Popuri is a decent modernization, if a little overly cutesy. She reminds me of a My Little Pony for some reason.
They destroyed Karen.
Mary is a straight upgrade.
Elli's dress looks way too extravagant and busy, but at least her design is in the same spirit.
I like Ann's new look but it's a radical departure from her original.
New Girl's design is nice in a vacuum, but it definitely doesn't fit the style of the original game, and still looks somewhat out of place even with the redesigns.

I kind of like the designs to be honest even if the originals will always have a special place in my heart unlike these.
That said, it's mostly just frustrating that the Doraemon spin-off looks absolutely amazing while this does not.

Trio is the superior game by far but I liked the marriage candidates in SoS more. It shouldn't be too bad going backwards.

I tried playing Trio when it came out, but it felt like each of the three towns was really underdeveloped and kind of parody-like. Does it get better later in the game? Think I made it to the fall.

I thought the gameplay was great and I liked a lot of the characters but if that's your complaint I don't necessarily seeing it get any better for you. The towns definitely feel disconnected, I remember one review saying it felt like going to different "lands" in an amusement park and I can see that comparison. It would have been nice if there was a central town where everyone interacted more.

This. I get that FoMT was the introduction to the series for a lot of people, but the base of BtN has been rehashed twice now (at least). I guess this makes sense from a business perspective (and by the look of things it definitely feels like a cash grab to fuel the next original SoS game), but a 64 remake would be way better.

Any game with the name "Harvest Moon" released post-2015 is probably going to be practically mobile-shit. There was a change in localizers which led to some legal issues, games by the original HM devs are now called Story of Seasons (which this is).

From the trailer, the item shop doesn't seem to have furigana, but dialogue seems to have furigana for everything, even very simple kanji. I'm sure it's manageable with basic Japanese
