Baldur's Gate III

If it's turn-based it might be the best RPG of all time 2bh. Larian is that good.

Nah I think they'll gear it towards people who were fans of the first games.

Larian le quirky and funny writing though.

Yep, active pause was a mistake. ToEE had the best combat (but quite ugly ui).

Many who were fans of the first two games also want it to be turn-based though.

Redpill me on d&d5 and available playable races.

>Larian
>better than Beamdog and Obsidian
nice try Larianigger

These faggot cant write serious or engaging to save their lives.

Anyone know what it is supposed to be about? What's with the mind flayers?

Everyone is better than Obsidian.

Fuck off

Original sin 2 was incredible, I doubt they'll top it.

Give ME sequel Jaheira!

How many trannies will be in it?

If it's turn-based I'm pirating it

They said they're handling BG3 differently. Especially the tone.

>Beamdog
Fucking kys you absolute nigger

5. Gay FTM, gay MTF, straight FTM, straight MTF, and muh third gender Vivec elf.

I'm out of the loop. Is Beamdog still doing this or is there another company? I don't want more SJW tranny shit ruining it.

Larian, creator of Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 (very highly rated RPGs), is doing it.

Do NOT worry user it is NOT from Beamdog user it IS from Larian AND Larian DOES give CUTE wifes user!

Attached: Lohse.jpg (639x1000, 245K)

Wives ARE stupid and ugly. Especially Jaheira AND Aerie.

...how were the first two games NOT le quirky and funny writing though?

No!

>turn-based
>best

Better not have female warrior companions.

Dont want a tea party simulator like P:K

What! Valerie IS the CUTEST wife user! (She is! She is!)

Attached: Valerie.jpg (702x700, 123K)

Did anyone save the user writefag's Aerie/Imoen lewds?

This is a valid point.

Minsc is iconic to BG series. Come to think of it, in both games I got rid of him asap

>calling it III over twenty years after II
you can't do that

everyone who buys this needs to burn
kill them all

Go away.

What!

D:OS2 has terrible writing and terrible gameplay, that people only pretend is good because it has multiplayer. It's a great example of why turn-based combat isn't automatically good or inherently better than RTwP.

this

That kind of buffoon is a fantasy staple though. Reminds me a lot of Kruppe from the Malazan series. Nothing wrong with comedy characters in fantasy so long as they fit in universe. It's when they are a modern, quirky, spork holding meme it doesn't work.

Plus Jim Cummings puts in a great performance which helps a lot.

>Larian is that good.
kys pleb and don't come here anymore.

The new races are kinda meh. Dragonborn seem like they'd be godlike paladins but as with the other races, the higher level feats make the 'classic' races superior.

Active Pause is fine as it makes trivial enemies less of a pain.

It just needs to fix kiting.

objectively wrong

Oh I got nothing against Minsc, really. And in fact I'd trust Larian to not go to any silly lengths beyond that threshold.

What! She IS the CUTEST wife user! I DO have MANY wife user BUT Valerie IS my CUTEST wife user!

Obsidianigs SEETHING

What, and kept one more whiny brat with you instead?

BG2 is full of great characters though.

That much is true.

Mindflayers' invasion.

Fuck I wanted to post this. CRPGs were always for cucked basedfags

>16 cha

TB combat?
Is it a rule good RPGs have to be shitty games?

It appears to be a rule that TB haters are insufferable snobs at least.

Assuming they'd make all PHB races playable we'd have

>Human
>Elf
>Dwarf
>Halfling
>Half-Elf
>Half-Orc
>Gnome
>Tiefling
>Dragonborn

and a couple different sub-races for each(things like dark elves or stout halflings) if they want to include races from other 5e materials then they could almost double that list. Same goes for classes and sub-classes. This new game has the potential for alot more character builds than the old games depending on how many of 5e's options they include.

It's a shame it will be based on 5e when 4e would have been the best game adaption.

Yeah, I also only like games where I mash left click for combat. Sometimes I'll even right click to block. It's thrilling

Did 4e get any game adaptations?

>best RPG of all time 2bh
Considering the writers it's already deader than a foreskin in Israel.

this

underrated

It should be Baldur's Gate 5 honestly

Wut

>BG1
>The Critically Acclaimed Siege of Dragonspear
>BG2
>Throne of Bhaal
>This game

Why even call it Baldur's Gate at this point?
Just call it Baldur's Quest or Baldur's Journey or Baldur's Adventure

Baldurs gate is the name of the city

>cute
That looks like a tranny though

Not really. The main reason IWD is the superior series is that the characters shut the fuck up.

I missed you Valerie user

The MMO "Neverwinter", not to be confused with Neverwinter Nights.

Neverwinter is a nice, little game.

Ja

I can only thank Gorion's ghost that Obsidian didn't get this. Each attempt Obsidian makes to create their own universe rather than simply deconstruct a setting made by others, has been more disastrous than the last. Aside from the outdated gameplay and lifeless cities, Pillars of Eternity's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of combat mechanics, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Sawyer vetoed the idea of making anything at all innovative or original; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable nostalgia pandering to ageing Baldur's Gate fans. Pillars of Eternity might be anti-casual(or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Divinity series in its refusal of spontaneity, fun and excitement.

>a-at least the writing was good though

"No!"

The writing is dreadful; the narrative was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I engaged in dialogue with an NPC the game presented me with a Wiki-page style infodump instead of anything resembling actual human conversation.

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time this was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sawyer's mind is so governed by obsession with pointless minutiae of the lore that he has no other style of writing.

Later I read a lavish, loving review of Pillars of Eternity by the same David Gaider. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kiddies are playing Obsidian games at 17 or 18, then when they get older they will go on to enjoy Dragon Age II." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Pillars of Eternity" you are, in fact, trained to shill for Bioware.

Beamdog is a guilty of a number of different crimes. Here are the major ones.

1. The Enhanced Editions are essentially a collection of free mods that had existed for nearly twenty years. Beamdog gathered them all up, slapped "Enhanced Edition" on it and resold it as a new product. There's very very little in the Enhanced Editions that wasn't already out there, and most of it is stuff you don't want (like obnoxious character outlines).

2. The games didn't sell so well and the originals were still far outselling them, even twenty years after their release, so Beamdog had EVERY digital distributor stop selling the originals and ONLY sell the Enhanced Edition. If you want to buy a digital copy of the originals now, they're "bundled" into the Enhanced Edition. Now these scumbags can claim sales from people just wanting to buy the originals as their own.

3. The infamous 600+ bugs on launch. The game is still riddled with bugs (as even a perfunctory glance over their forums show) but the fact that it took nearly two years for them to get a game that had been working fine for 20 years to reach playability after launch is telling of their wild incompetence.

4. This is where we get to the ones that really piss people off. Beamdog couldn't just remaster the game, they had to fuck with the content too. New dialogue for existing NPCs like Jaheira, Viconia, Safana, Kivan, et cetera was written in to make the characters more progressive and leftist friendly. Beamdog shills will argue that "adding content isn't changing content XDDD" but it is when the new content changes the core personalities of the existing characters. This is in addition to adding a slew of their own LGBT (hitherto there were none in Baldur's Gate) NPCs, all flooded with OP attributes and magic items to encourage people to play them despite their cancer.

5. Siege of motherfucking Dragonspear.

baldur's gate 2 (doesn't actually take place in baldur's gate)
i still crack up at that one

There is an alternative (and better) fighter to Minsc. If you wanted a thief in your party you had to play one yourself, pick that useless chink or this wacky fellow.

Attached: Jan_Jansen_NJAN_Portrait_BG2.png (210x330, 127K)

>If you wanted a thief in your party you had to play one yourself, pick that useless chink or this wacky fellow.
Imoen can open every lock and pick every trap in the series and Nalia can do the same with every lock in SoA, and by ToB there's enough thief boosting gear that you never need a full thief. Which is good; straight, single-classed Thief sucks.

Thief must be better in tabletop or something.

Needs a buff

Thieves (well, Rogues) tend to excel at utility skills or scouting/espionage, which don't translate well to party-based video games since there are no skill checks and you generally don't want to send one of your characters on a solo mission

It is -- they get a lot of stuff that doesn't relate to Baldur's Gate mechanics, such as climbing walls -- but then again, so do bards, who are infinitely superior but require a pretty high stat total.

Single-classed Thieves are okay when kitted in Baldur's Gate, each has some pretty good ability (poison applies to ranged attacks including Arrow of Detonation in an AoE, bounty hunter traps can be very strong, Swashbucklers are basically fighters-lite with Use Any Item, and one of the few characters that can actually use Armor Class), but the best Thief is usually a hybrid or something that duals out early.

The creme de la creme of tabletop optimization in AD&D 2e was to roll a human fighter (7) dual to any class of your choice, particularly mage.

Multiclasses were harder to justify because in tabletop you actually felt the lag, but in BG2, they're also strong.

Ergo, just run:
>Fighter/Thief multiclass
>Fighter (Kensai or Berserker) 9 or 13->Thief
>Swashbuckler (10) -> Fighter
or similar
and you're good to go, all the thief skills you really need. The caps are rather low on everything.

Imagine getting raped by a mindflayer tranny.
Makes you hard, isn't?

This. Should just make a new IP

Beamdog are the ones who made the remakes and the new content? Their writing is horrible.

But Divinity is boring, repetitive, unengaging, and railroaded. The only thing it has going for it is nice visuals.

BG1 characters haven't very much going about them, but their voice lines and banter were good and memorable, and voice acting was great, although so little.
Branwen is the best wife btw, would eat ass any day.

I like the BG1 NPC Project mod for those who want a BG2-style banter. You have to, of course, keep in mind that it's a fanfic, but it's still written okay, no worries about any Saerileth-style red flags.

Are you actually autistic
