Oh shit, it's the trifecta! But to answer the questions in this thread. Sakurai was playing an SnK fighting game in the arcades which inspired him to make Smash. Other fighting games were too complex and didn't let the losing players had much fun. (Forgot which interview this was, but you can google it) Terry's moveset is not at all like Ryu or Ken's. Also, Terry is more iconic than Bayonetta, K.Rool, Palutena, Shulk, Robin, Corrin, Joker.

The more air focused combat as KOF is known for very strong air normals that often beat grounded offense.
Smash took much inspiration from SNK but most devs had so it isn't a big deal.
