Unarmed

Bow build

Mutual destruction.
Next stupid question.

>who wins
>big sheild
>or a boot

>shield that could defend from all spear attacks
>can't defend from anything else

pyromancy

Hit him with the other side of the spear.

Just swipe the spear from the sides or above to stab the cunt behind the shield you stupid tittyheaded wanker.

I want ds2 people to leave

DS2 had the pimp slap

I hate it. Kick is better.

A shield that can block any spear seems oddly specific.

I personally would choose spear

The spear will clearly pierce the shield yet get stuck in there, making both statements true.

>player weapons get caught in walls
>enemy sweeps noclip through just fine
Is this what you call artificial difficulty? Is Dark Souls 3 just a retarded meme game?

Attached: 1566154924164.jpg (488x513, 48K)

this
a spear can pierce your shield yet still fail to hit you

Isn't it the same in all games?

Enemy AI is fucking retarded and can't tell when they're in a narrow hallway. You can. Why are you too stupid to use thrusting or vertical moves in tight spaces?

Havel > Orenstein

That's a sword, not a spear

>enemy is too retarded to tell if on hallway
So how about using that mechanic where if they do dumb fucking loop-de-loops their weapon gets caught on the wall too? Oh I forget any sembiance of critical thinking and balance is met with LE GIT GUUUD weeb retard responses.

Pyro

The Slap was infinitely more useful and hard punished turtles. That, and it could be combo'd into from weapon swings to trip people up, and landing it even without hitting a shield opened them up to damage anyway.

>tfw mindlessly spamming against someone and slap by accident
>tfw it gets them

>is superior to every other shield in the game

Attached: grass-crest-shield.png (102x120, 7K)

That's a zweihandler you dumbass.
This is what a spear looks like.

Attached: spear.jpg (425x425, 7K)

I like the regular crest shield because of the 80 or fucking 90% magic damage resist

just roll lmao

>Dragonslayer Spear

I ripped the fucking circle button out
I ate it

A good developer works around dumbshit enemy AI by composing the level around the strengths and weaknesses of the enemies. Level design and enemy design go hand in hand. You don't have to resort to cheap shit to make an enemy seem competent though a lot of devs do because its the easiest way.

Half the spear phases out of this dimension and does not physically hit the shield as it goes through but the tip phases back once past the shield. Retracting reverses the process again. The shield defends from all spear attacks but in this scenario it has no actual attack to defend against. Both conditions remain true.

Shield.
It is stated that the shield can defend from all spear attacks, but it is not specified how exactly it can do that, which means it should defend from all spear attacks even it gets pierced by one.

Attack always wins. Defense only works when an attack is taking place. Attack works with no requirements.

>Good attack: win
>Fail attack: nothing happens

>Good defense: nothing happens
>Fail defense: you die

It also looks nice.

>Fail attack: Riposte

>invaded by dark spirit Knight Slayer Tsorig

>Fail riposte: Riposte
:^)

ye that's true

I wish you could hide this thing. Ruins your aesthetics carrying a piece of metal you never use on your back.

not with that shield.

They would both break.

that's the tax for using the bullshit item.

>Good defense: your opponent weapon is blocked/parried while yours is free to counterattack
Offence only works if you have an advantage, such as spear vs sword. In equal dual with equal skill the first to attack is the most likely one to lose

Depends on which one was made first

>Defense works for the attack
yeah, attack wins

it will defend you but itll still get pierced, probably just getting pierced by like an inch

In a perfect game, there would be no way for the two to interact.

In most cases, the devs will just pick one over the other.

gun

>gets hit by a lightning spear through a fatass enemy blocking your view

The first attack is easy to read.
Attacking only works if there are openings, when the battle starts there are no oppenings, your opponent will always be on guard

Spear because you can still hit other people and the shield can only block spear attacks

Attach spear to wooden club
Problem solved

>In equal dual with equal skill the first to attack is the most likely one to lose
This is just false
There are two possibilities. The shield can take the blow or it doesn't. We don't know, so it's 50/50 for now. Let's assume both opponents have the same spear and shield.

50% the spear breaks the shield: this one is a given, attack wins
50% the shield doesn't break: well, assuming they're both equally skilled, the one who loses is the one who misses the defense. We can't calculate the probabilities of missing the defense, but it doesn't matter. In any case, even if it's something like 0.0000001%, the one who attacks first has the advantage.

This makes 50+x% in favor of attack over defense

>when the battle starts there are no oppenings, your opponent will always be on guard
This is also false. The "attacker" can easily wait for an opening with feints and all sorts of movements.

Remember that one DLC shield that was also a catalyst in DS2? I remember casting great magic shield on it and it was OP as fuck. It would block everything while you attacked with it.

Who said you can't hit someone with a shield? The utter state of spearfags

Here's what we do, we take a polearm and we make the shield the head of the spear
You get 2 in one

>so it's 50/50 for now
The chance to win a lotery is 50/50" either you win, or either you dont. That logic is just stupid.
There is only ONE possibility to win the fight in first strike - spear pierces the shield without any problem and kills your opponent. There are countles other possibities such as: nothing happens, spear breaks, shield breaks but spear didnt penetrated it, spear gets stuck in shield etc.
If you attack first you not only risk losing your spear but also you giving your opponent information what will happen.
What do you think is easier, to siege the castle or defend it?

We're talking about two guys with a spear and a shield, with equal skill, and just attacking and defending.
>but you can dodge or your spear can break too
how much of an autist you have to be to bring that into consideration to judge if a spear could penetrate a fucking shield. Want to play on that level? then none of those work, and a fucking grenade is better.

You could also use Fume Knight ugs as a great shield. It had only about 80 physical block but a lot of enemies' attacks bounced off of it.

That is the only weapon I blocked with in ds2 and ds3. In fact, my favourite pvp build was rapier/estoc in right hand and FUGS in left

>spear that could pierce any shield
>can't pierce skin, much less armor

the games are great but the fanbases are the fucking worst. Mention any issue with the games outside of the accepted ones (Izalith, Demon Ruins) and you're met with "git gud." I've never understood it.

git gud
