Nintendo said themselves that they didn't want to make money too much on their mobile games.

It is fucking AMAZING how fucked up how investors will zone in on DL and FEH because of the owners to payments ratio while Mario Run will be discarded as a "minor" success despite falling into the traditional home console market plan.

It's likely due to Mario Run just being the first one, probably got a number of people spending money just because there wasn't another Nintendo mobile game. Animal Crossing has a similar install base but hasn't made anywhere near the same amount of money. Either it was just initial spenders or all the people who would casually play latched onto Mario Run, either way later games don't seem to be performing nearly as well.

I'm not surprised they're focusing on FEH and Dragalia, given how successful they've been overall and compared to their user base.

To put these numbers in context the highest seller, fire emblem heroes is equivalent to only about 1.5 million normal game sales. Nintendo is not making shit off mobile.

Dr Mario was terrible as a gatcha.
I mean, puzzles are fine even if it would be better if it kept the match 4 format of the original Dr Mario instead of the Candy Crush match 3 but getting coins to roll for a character is a pain in the ass and even feels pointless when you can get Bowser for free and helpers barely ever are relevant or useful at all
