Metroid Prime

Why is this game such a masterpiece?

Fantastic music+art design, unique gameplay, and a dash of that gen6 magic

Because Retro were really good at making video games.

That looks really good compared to the trilogy version i got on the wii u. Is that upscaled, or does gamecube just look better?

I liked fusion more

Switch port when?

>UI had real geometry
The fuck?

Every Direct I keep getting disappointed about no Trilogy HD

Where do I get the wireframe visor?

Will prime 4 be good? I really hope so

Everything you see from the first-person perspective are 3D objects. Even the fucking visor frame is.
If you break the camera, you can see the entire thing floating. It's really bizarre, but cool as hell.

I hope they sell prime 1 separately; it's the only prime game I've finished

I played this and got bored in the first open area

>we will never get a VR port because Nintendo lives in 2007 technology-wise

>were
Their DK was great, and it was the last game they made

>VR
gross

Gamecube version has some really specific hardware hacks that even the slight changes the Wii brought meant they had to be removed from trilogy. That and wii mote free aim broke the beam charge effects so they had to remove them.

HD port of Prime that can be hacked into VR when?

Inb4 that one autist comes in screeching about his Thief meme image.

b-but every game on the gamecube can be played on the Wii perfectly fine right? except ones that use the Ethernet adaptor. I might need to find my copy of metroid prime, gamecube and wii to check this for myself

Yes, it's just those specific effects won't work.

he's pulling that out of his ass

ok, I'll look for the beam charging effects. is there anything else in particular to look for?
that's what I'm thinking... but I need to check this for myself

Googled it

Play ReCore Definitive Edition

It's ok to have that opinion when your only VR experience has been with a Labo.

I dunno if there's a way to play the original game in VR, but there's a patch where you can hack the UI and patch a Widescreen version of it. It's flawless

I wonder if Mark Pacini will be able to enjoy Prime 4? He said he think's the Trilogy is shit because A)Can't exist creator mode when playing it so he just bitches about what went wrong
B)He just gets reminded of the ungodly amount of hours he had to put in.

Oh the effects were changed, it simply wasn't because of hardware differences.
The Wii and Gamecube are astonishingly similar under the hood. Nintendont, the homebrew utility for pirating Gamecube games on Wii, technically works under Wii mode (rather than the older Dios MIOS and the official backward compatibility mode which really is in Gamecube mode). The patches you need to get GC games running in Wii mode are minimal.
Prime Trilogy has graphical changes which aren't necessarily downgrades too, like better textures and bloom lighting.

I just recently played through most of the game and really enjoyed it, but finding out that after exploring everywhere I had 5 of the 12 Artefacts really destroyed my enthusiasm. I know I can just look up a guide but that feels so cheap.

I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't already gone through each area like 6 times just to figure out where the plasma beam was, my own fault for not noticing specific doors until after I'd left the area.

The artifact temple gives you hints as to where the artifacts are. They hint tells you the name of the room where the artifact is.

If I remember correctly, Retro had its own engine for the first two Metroid games, and, when 3 was in development, they changed it heavily to use the Wii's hardware. Assuming that the trilogy was made using the modified engine, I guess they couldn't port all the features the original had

I haven't enjoyed the Oculus or Vive, actually

I want to believe, but I'm worried it will go further in the direction of corruption over MP1. It's not like corruption was terrible, but plot and characters don't belong in metroid. I just wanna be shipwrecked and alone again.

It's probably like you said, then. But that's an engine change, not a hardware limitation.

If you can source this somewhere I'd be very interested to read it.

In 2015 when asking about plans for a future Prime game. Tanabe said he'd focus on Slyux and make it one planet again like Prime 1.

The only source I have is the recreation of the engine's code that some people are doing: github.com/AxioDL/urde
They were the ones that dismissed the rumor of MP using a heavily modified Unreal Engine 2 for MP.
Sorry for not finding nothing more substancial. I'm just assuming they changed the engine for Wii

Tallon lV, home...

Can you fucking stop? I'm starting to feel like playing it again and I already have like 4 or 5 games halfway through.

Cool.
Unless that's what they scrapped and we get a segmented rushjob because that's easier to do. There's no way we're in that timeline, r-right?

Game informer editor said as far as he could dig up, the issue with it was that Bamco was developing it Ubisoft style, it felt like a bunch of disconnect systems sloppily patched together (think Assassin's Creed 3 on PS3 launch) and various studios were falling behind so Nintendo said fuck this, we're making it under one roof.

Its okay user, I feel your pain too

It takes less than 10 hours to go through a 100% run. You can put that aside for a replay, user.

If I recall correctly the wii literally has gamecube hardware inside it for backwards compatibility. They did the same trick with the DS for GBA backwards compatibility.

Dolphin VR emulator literally has hacks for Prime compatibility

I need to finish prime. ahhhh

Reminder that you can now play the Prime trilogy with flawless kb+m control. No more stupid camera settings or fuckery with beam/visor switching either, it works like any other fps weapon switch.
