The combat might be clunkier in 1 but I prefer its weightier feel, difficulty and how it doesn't rely on flashy animations
Enemy design, art, music, atmosphere, and story are also all superior

I thought it was amazing. All the worlds I was excited to visit were as good as I hoped, all the ones I wasn't expecting to like I ended up thoroughly enjoying. The game was visually amazing and the gameplay was a lot of fun compared to other entries in the series. The entire ending stretch was absolutely perfect. My only real issue with the game is that it ditched the FF aspect completely.

As someone who's played the series since KH1 release, it was one of my fav games of this gen and well worth the wait.

I don't get how someone who likes KH2 can complain about the pacing of 3 though.

I'd agree that a lot of 3s story doesn't really twine in with most of the worlds but I wouldn't say 2 does it any better. In 2 you get stopped for a really obvious pointless cutscene after every other room and nothing actually gets rolling story wise until the midway point, and then you need to visit all the worlds again. The pacing alone is so bad it ruins that game for me

Compare this to, for example, Eraqus' death scene, where everyone involved - Terra, Ven and Eraqus - all act like complete idiots, with Terra just literally drop-diving guns blazing one of the most important persons on his life with little more than two full sentences shared, while Eraqus does the same to his own disciple because darkness and Ven just stares dumbfounded (which he shouldn't do considered he just is actually FINE with the fact that he should die), only for Xehanort to randomly appear and gloat his keikaku and announce the final stretch of the game. THIS NOT ONLY HAS SERIOUS IMPLICATIONS TO THE STORY OF BBS, BUT THIS SHITSTAIN OF A SCENE IS CRUCIAL TO THE ENTIRETY OF THE SAGA.

The hint of an actual TWEWY world with the current focus on world-building was much better than the rattling about we've gotten since 2FM to be fair. Situation Commands are pure, unadulterated cancer that remove deliberateness from the system with nonsensical or random proccing conditions and 0 resource restrictions.

The cinematic attacks are distracting, poorly balanced and boring.

Keyblade transformations are too fucking basic, samey and the palette swapping of magic is disgusting.

Magic is terribly bland with three fucking homing projectiles and transformation variants make it even worse.

Humanoid boss fights: neutered movesets is the biggest problem, followed by party members doing fuckhuge damage. The latter is a tuning issue, the former is never going to be fixed. Not even 2FM gave the Data Org new moves, just changed existing strings and upped their aggressiveness.

Base Sora: his physical attacks are all dogshit and fail at singlr target bursting and have no crowd control or elemental effects. They cannot be canceled out of except by triangle command, they have no iframe utility a la Aerial Finish/Guard Break. They will.never add new physical attacks because they want you to cheese fights with formchanges. also Base Sora never learns Hidden Potential so his damage will always be shit.

Formchanges: theyre the only way to do respectable damage at lv1

Grandmagic, Attractions: both of these are almost literally free damage. there is never a reason to not use them - grandmagic is free in terms of additional resource usage, gives a few iframes, and does fuckhuge damage. Attractions give you a ton of damage Control while in use, and you can never die while using an attraction
