Every fucking Gears plays the exact same, the only game that tried something different was Judgment and it was punished accordingly.
4 was a straight copy from 3, ditched weapon loadouts, re-balanced shit and upped the framerate to 60fps and 5 is a copy of 3/4 as well.

The character focus kills the story for me but if the multiplayer has gears 3 like unlocks with characters from 1 and 2 I won't care.

Gears 1-3 all had great story, the build up and character development for everyone made me very invested in each character and when they died it was actually a shocking/saddening moment. Like when RAAM kills Kim in Gears 1 you just watch hoping he turns around or Gears 2 when Benjamin Carmine gets his guts eaten out and Marcus is next to him as he dies you feel bad because Carmine was such a wholesome character. Then you have Gears 3 with one of the most impactful deaths in the series and I gotta say even if I was disappointed he died they did it right.

Gears 4 then passes the mantle to Marcus' son and friend. We never knew anything about them before hand, we don't care about who they are, none of them are interesting and I spent more of the campaign being annoyed that the focus still wasn't on Marcus' group.

Back when E3 happened I posted some shit in a thread about some series "passing down the mantle" like God of War with Kratos training his son where you know somewhere down the line Kratos is gonna die or some shit then his son carries the series. A lot of people probably don't want Kratos to die but the son is being built up so people will at least have an idea of who he is when he takes over and that is the right way to do it. Gears 4 kind of just threw you into a new group and hoped they would stick but really I wouldn't care if any of them died especially the new girl who is some kind of traitor with the locust or some shit.

Now we have Gears 5 where it seems the focus won't even be on JD anymore but instead on the girl and she has some edgy story with inner conflict or some bullshit based on the trailor we saw at E3. It just looks like such a shitty story and I am going into it hoping we at least get a lot of Marcus, Cole Train, Baird, Anya, anyone that isn't from this new generation bullshit. Still gonna get it though.

Because gears was always average and better play couch coop .online is a mess the story was over 4 felt like a fanfiction and its gona 20 buks in a year.

The campaign is probably going to be terrible so I am just gonna do one playthrough on the hardest difficulty they have then just grind the other game modes for fun. I hope they bring back the mode where you play as locust vs COG and the Ribbon/Medal system from gears 3 where challenges let you unlock cool characters in multiplayer or characters from older games.

Did you play 4? The MP is almost identical except slightly polishing it in favor of core tuning. Compared to 3 though, it's slower in general, but shots land more consistently. It's more "balanced" in favor of E sports kiddies.

You may or may not get the Reach stuff, they have been incredibly vague how the gamepass works for that. But you can just buy the reach stuff straight up so you can use the cash you WERE going to spend on the game for that (as Im willing to do). And yeah also getting it on PC since it runs really well on PC.

I would be more willing to pay up if Epic started selling micro-expansions. 1 or 2 new campaign levels bundled with MP maps and skins. The maps then should become free for the rest of the poorfag community so I don't end up playing alone with 3 other guys. I do not mind funding map packs if they come bundled with extra campaign levels, think of something like doom wads that are not part of the story but rather cool things epic can do with unreal tech.
