Banjo is the main character of a game that was popular during the N64 days. He should have been added in Melee but circumstances delayed his inclusion to 2019. It's a bit meaningless now, but it's done.
K. Rool, the main protagonist of four DKC games, should also have been added in Melee, but better late than never I suppose.
Ridley, though? It's 100% a meme ala Waluigi. He doesn't have any personality in the games and is just a common boss.
