Why is there no good matrix games?

The entire matrix setting would make for a perfect cyberpunk/dystopian esque game.
Any kind of gameplay is perfect for that whether it is gta type game fighting game or anything else for the matter. Even a fucking dogfighting game in the underground tunnels irl with some hacking action in between or something like that.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be a letdown after all the hype cause they have no way to realize all that in the setting they choose. If they were to buy the license for matrix they could do anything they wanted and it would look good.
Perma night? justified. Perma rain? justified
Broken car physics in some sort of racing game? justified.

Matrix Online was fantastic.

Path of Neo is pretty much the perfect Matrix game, since it literally just lets you be Neo throughout all three movies. Asides from another Matrix Online (or something similar) letting you create your own character and play around in an openworld version of the setting, there's not much more you could ask for.

What about a modern matrix game thats sorta like The Specialists?

There was a good flash one that I haven't played in like 15 years. You're on a roof and there's a ledge you can do jumps off. You can also do bullet time to dodge bullets. I can't remember anything else about it.

Matrix 4 is in the works so here's to hoping for a good matrix game.

Matrix 1 was only decent from an action standpoint, and so are the other two movies. In terms of plot and story all three of them are pretty bad, the philosophy, analogies and metaphors are all so fucking self-contradicting that the Wachowskies can't make up their mind on what the theme of the story even is. Also fuck anyone that calls Matrix "Cyberpunk"

Hugo Weaving is brilliant in all three, also. Wish he was in more decent movies or in any at all.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith is probably the best part of the movies other than the great action sequences. He plays the role of the character fucking perfectly and I just wish Hugo Weaving was in better movies where he could have his charm work.

Stfu, wb ruined the Matrix not the brothers. They were literally making the prequel and the sequel at the same time, I.e. animatrix and the Matrix 2. Splitting the sequel and adding useless shit ruined it.

I also liked him in Cloud Atlas but he was kind of a gimmick character in its most prominent role, so...

The overall theme is pretty obvious. You're just looking too much into the nods to real life civilization and how it serves as perspective for the various Matrix programs.
