I remember kids and I used to wear these around their neck in school and they actually got banned from being worn inside the classroom
Yes, but like many other kids I had the "woken up by a fucking toy to take care of it" realization and stopped pretty much immediately.
Had a dinky dino and it kept resetting itself so I said fuck it.
never got a tamagotchi.
for some reason, i always got the knockoffs.
also, digimon digivices are currently on sale on amazon.
>Video game
I saw it as more than a mere "game" this thing had a life of its own and was always with me. I was FACINATED with them in 97. The three best ones ever made in my opinion were Raku-Raku Dino-kun, Tamagotchi Angel and Digimon.
Weird how so many of us had that one but now they are rarer than rocking horse shit.
I was on the news buying one. don't find me
The knockoffs were much better for some reason.
Check chink sites. Also I think there's a new series but they are so expensive it's not really worth it.
I had tamagotchis, a few of those licensed virtual pets (like Mickey Mouse and shit) and a bunch of those bootleg ones with like 30 different generic creatures. Actually I think I still have one of those, bought it and never actually used it, maybe I'll give it a go for a laugh. I always wanted a Digimon one too but never got one of those. I also had that I Love My Tamagotchi book, read it a bunch of times.
I hate actually playing with my Tamagotchis but I love collecting the different models and shells. They remind me of when I was young and happy, plus they have a cool 90s vibe. The 2000s ones are pretty great too, but the modern ones became too gendered.
There's a ton of weird models in Japan. Some where you raise an entire class of kids, some with weird daytime talk show hosts, one-hit wonder boy bands, comedy radio DJs. I really want the Mothra one.

Link?
Had a red Dinky Dino and a blue Digimon DigiVice. Preferred the latter one

Never released in the west. I've never actually played mine because I haven't had time to fully understand it.
I imagine the V5 (and V5 celebrity) might be a similar experience. You raise a family of 3 Tamas. I had that one as a kid but it was when I was getting out of Tamagotchis so I barely remember it. They're pricey though.
I had the Pikachu one and none of you can get close to my level of Chadness.
Why would you keep some dumb bird looking thing in your pocket when you could have a cute girl instead?
I played the superior version
Mametchi was the defining element of my zoomer sexual experiences.
No man can live up to his broad, pixelated shoulders and soft sensitive eyes.
I remember my little sister had a v4.
I bought a 4U this year, actually. Played for about three whole months. Then it drove me crazy and I ended up taking out the batteries and never looked back.
Neenetchi is best girl.
I've bought my sister a lot of them over the years. She's 22 now and I still got her the latest one, bought myself a Digimon while I was at it.
They're real fancy now. Color and internet and all. I don't even get fucking back lighting or more than 16x16 sprites on my Digimon.
Took such good care of my tamagotchi the fucking think evolved into a bicycle
i had one and was kept interested in it for over a week. it blew my mind that raising it differently made it evolve into different forms.
Not technically a virtual pet
