They're what we would call, "True Undead", reanimated dead flesh, but even living organisms can become necromorphs, but are ultimately killed off by the necromorph disease, their main purpose is to kill, harvest, assimilate, spread and create more necromorph biomass from all organic life to create a convergence event, which what the Markers are used for, to create Brethren Moons, the real, true Necromorphs, and yes, these moons are actually planet sized masses of living flesh, the rest is inorganic to act as a way to defend themselves, and oddly, can alter their density to manipulate their gravitational pulls to move in the universe.

Its not fully explicitly stated how conscious someone is once they're biomass is a necromorph. Though only the guardians seem to be at all in pain or verbalize anything resembling their past selves.

My guess is the initial transformation would be obscenely painful and then death. Nothing in the game pushes the horror that there are still aware humans inside the necromorph. The opening scene in 2 shows a living man being transformed. It shows him being killed instantly and then transformed. If he was in pain. It was very brief.

The weird thing about The Thing is it's kind of just been accepted you can burn The Thing to kill it but they explicitly say in the film that doesn't work. One of the scientist says of the burnt body they bring back from the Norwegian camp "There's still cellular activity in these bodies. They're not dead yet." and then that body kills someone later.

No, they don't. The Norwegians thought they'd killed one of the things with fire and that was shown to not be true in the film. At best, it incapacitates them temporarily. It's kind of a major point of the film that they have no idea what the fuck do. They don't know what The Thing is. They don't know how to kill it. The end of the movie is the "hero" just giving up.

Like most Eldritch horror stories, you cannot physically kill the final boss directly. In fact, the moment you enter the final stage, you get disarmed by hypnoslug inside your safehouse and must submit to being raped by it to fight the final boss. The final stage then takes place inside your womb and you need to fight to regain control. Each time you fail, you get a scene of the slug raping you until you bear its brood forever.

The ending doesn't say exactly what happenes after the final boss goes poof but it's assumes that there is no way to avoid having its jizz in you when you win.

There are other mind control scenarios but this is easily the best I've seen in a porn game.

Any kind of transformation thing where the person is fully conscious of the change freaks me out. Like imagine your body painfull, and quickly mutating into something, and you cant do anything about it. Bones snapping and growing. Skin and flesh stretching and tearing. Ugh, fuck. or one of those things where even after the transformation is completed you are still 100% conscious and have no control over your body at all. I remember reading a few zombie stories like that, where some people where having fun in the apocolypse killing zombies, but once they got infected they found out they were still awake the entire time. They could never sleep, and felt their body decaying. They slowly went insane as their body wandered around starving and rotting, hoping they would run into armed humans so they could finally die.

They werent in Fallout 4 because Centaurs are a west coast mutant. They were failed experiments from the Master. They were dipping all kinds of shit into FEV to see what happens, not just people. People that didnt turn into super mutants, as well as failed animal experiments were basically dumped into the trash. But they kept mutating and started fusing together to create various centaur monsters. The Masters forces discovered that some of them could even be trained, so they used them as freakshow mutant attack dogs.

The centaurs wandering around in Fallout 3 were created the same way as the Masters centaurs. Tons of failed FEV experiments that were dumped into piles and fused into mutants. Its really too bad that they didnt make a bunch of different models for centaurs to show some mutated variations between all the different people and animals they are supposed to be made up of.

Institute on the east coast was way more advanced in their testing, and wasnt just dipping random shit into vats of FEV to see what happens and then disposing of the failed attempts, so they didnt end up with tons of "centaurs".

For all the sci-fi I've seen I only know of one series that specifically talked about what bases its life forms had and noted that a form of life was silicon-based, and that was Muv-Luv. Although Matthew Reilly's Contest might have had it too, it's been a long time since I read that.

the versions of centaurs from the earlier games were much closer to horrible assymentrical flesh blobs that writhed about on their mismatched shambled limbs, the results from just throwing a whole ton of things together into the FEV vats. there was concept art for something closer to that vision for fallout 4, but they ultimately were cut, if I had to guess probably because it would require a lot of extra work in terms of animation an design for a very niche enemy, one that doesn't really make sense to all look the same.
