I've seen better and more cohesive lighting at a community college film school film festival

yes

>cinematography
Belongs in videogames are about games.

lolno

ludography then

By that logic, you can't discuss game music because Yea Forums exists.

Yes. It's a shame that the cutscenes (and gameplay for that matter) of TPP felt like a totally different, worse game

>when the trailers story was legitimately better than the game
I mean theres def some shit that was blatantly cut and marginally replaced, like the car ride with skullface was intended to be a tunnel from the silo to the power plant, showing a massive assembly facility with dozens of sahelanthropus under construction; and without the song stuck in.
but God, DAMN I wanted him to kill the kids in the mine

>We will become demons
>Venom starts an animal conservatory and a daycare for misguided African children
There were definitely some rewrites between the trailers and release.

the animal shit was fine, they were being paid fat stacks for it, the daycare wasn't
"The world calls for wetwork, and we answer. No greater good. No just cause."

I really hope it was Konami interfering

There weren't any rewrites, at least not after the trailers. The whole point of the trailers was to paint the story as Big Boss's descent into villainy to reflect how the US scapegoated him:
>He continues: “But in MGSV, it’s actually America that’s the overarching Moby Dick. Big Boss is Ahab in the sense that he’s been maimed by America in the past. Big Boss turns his yearning for revenge into bonds that bind him together with comrades who share his wish to retaliate against America (or its self-righteous justifications). However, from America’s point of view it’s Big Boss that’s Moby Dick. So what we can see in MGSV is actually an attempt to depict battle between Ahab and Ahab, or perhaps Moby Dick and Moby Dick.” This, according to Yano, explains why Kojima chose to switch the role of Ahab from Huey to Big Boss. “To be more precise, the aim is to reveal that the system the world runs on defines Big Boss’s existence as “evil.” That’s why MGSV tells you distinctly that Ahab is you, the player. It says, now you have to experience first-hand the absurdity of being branded a villain by the manipulating ways of the global status quo. […]For that message to be put across, it can’t be Huey telling it, since he’s on the American side. It has to be Big Boss himself that delivers the message.”
You were played like a fiddle.

and yet I would've 100% liked it better if Big Boss DID become the villain, if we saw his transformation into a man who fields child soldiers, manipulates those around him, builds nukes to hold the world hostage, and sends his own clone to die

But you did see literally all of that. And more's the point, why would a man who raises children to be soldiers murder them? Even then he didn't even really use child soldiers in the original games, he just kept them in Outer Heaven to train as the next generation of soldiers. He wasn't fielding them as children.

I'm so fucking mad that kojima teased some really dark stuff with the child rape and torture in gitmo and then completely wussed out
I don't care if konami made him he left anyway, I wanted something really shocking

That's not legal you dipshit.

Basically peace walker, minus the clone part, which is TPP. I don't understand what you're saying when that's literally been the last 2 games.

The whole opening with Cipher and Skull Face on that Cuban island prison with Here's to You or whatever it's called playing while it's pouring rain
I think about this intro a lot. What could have been....

Oh don't worry. People will bitch using that logic too.

You know I think it's pretty funny how MGS has always been about shades of gray, how there are no clear-cut heroes and villains in war, how conflict usually boils down to differences in ideology, how even your enemies can be sympathetic and might become allies or friends (and vice versa); and yet people were surprised and upset that MGSV didn't make Big Boss a saturday morning cartoon that murders children for literally no reason.

>not The Phantom Pain
still love Ground Zeroes, though

but venom does nothing wrong in the whole game outside of the question of how moral are mercs to begin with
he even lets h*ey live ffs

huey was innocent and venom still does heinous shit like abduct random soldiers then brainwash them into joining his mercenary death cult

The torture is pretty questionable I'd say. You also have control over Quiet's fate and how you approach the gameplay in terms of lethality. What kind of things did you want him to do?

He's kidnapping people, indoctrinating them to love him, and forcing them to fight in his wars. He's perpetuating a war in Soviet ((((controlled))) territory and basically playing any and all sides to achieve his goal. He's not a demon, but he's not a good person either.

There was definitely some Konami interference, you'd have to be blind to think otherwise. How else do you explain that every MGS game has been good to amazing and then all of a sudden 5 is mediocre as fuck?

I hate that this game will always exist as a separate thing in my mind. Why couldn't it have just been part of MGSV?

The trailers for GZ and V are some of the best of all time, especially the launch one where it shows all the previous games. Fuck me I wish V was good.

*woaaaaaaah hoooooooo intensifies*

For anyone who hasn't seen them all yet, or want to relieve them, here's all the Kojima trailers for MGSV in order. The Ground Zeroes trailer is slightly different than the in game cutscene, notable for Snake's facial capture where he seems more...happy.

Cosmic forces demanded Huey live. Otherwise we'll get a time paradox like when Raiden killed Big Boss.

One one hand
>Kaz, I'm already a demon

One the other
>A weapon to surpass Metal Gear.

God I love these trailers.
