I did this with Metal Gear. Played them in chronological order based on the story, starting with MGS3

Beat the first Witcher game twice. Tried playing 2 like 4 times and could never get into it out of boredom of the gameplay and horrible UI and always ended up quitting sometime in the 2nd chapter. never played 3.

Anyone else get into Megami Tensei by playing Persona 5 first? If this series didn't have P5 as the perfect entry point for players like my I might have never played it and started posting in every single SMT thread on Yea Forums

Reminder if it's not in the same universe and timeline continuing a previous story then it's by definition not a sequel.

gameplay wise it's the best in the series, it feels like it's the only one designed with actual rpg mechanics in mind
sure the combat is simplistic dogshit, but every game in the series has shit combat and I'd honestly rather play that pseudo rhythm game than the clunky dark souls clones with terrible hitboxes that are witcher 2 and 3

Started Etrian Odyssey at 4. Loved it so much I bought the first 3 on DS and played through them almost nonstop.

3 is still the best and I swear to god they better do an 3 Untold for Switch.
