>Having once made the statement above, I have declined all opportunities to enlarge upon it or defend it. That seemed to be a fool's errand, especially given the volume of messages I receive urging me to play this game or that and recant the error of my ways. Nevertheless, I remain convinced that in principle, video games cannot be art. Perhaps it is foolish of me to say "never," because never, as Carl Sagan informed us, is a long, long time. Let me just say that no video gamer now living will survive long enough to experience the medium as an art form.
>the volume of messages I receive urging me to play this game or that and recant the error of my ways Sounds like his problem is being harassed by "THE CAEK IS A LIE!@!1" gaymer shitheads 24/7

Ayden Russell
Art is anything that humans create in order to make other humans feels specific emotions. For example, The Last Guardian was created in order to make you feel attached to the catbird and the ending of the game makes you basically want to fuck the catbird, that's how much you love it by the end. Now if that's not art, I don't want art.
Leo Torres
>there are more stolen bikes in my garage than there are stars in the universe
Benjamin Phillips
>I remain convinced that in principle, video games cannot be art okay, but why? >I've never played a video game in my life but I know for a fact they can never be art Why do people do this?
What the fuck is your problem? Why give Tyson any merit, when the diversity and depth of video game experiences are clearly a topic he is uninformed of, and he clearly has no intention to become informed on this topic either.
It's just not his thing, and he doesn't care enough about it to learn more. Like, if someone pressed any random video game developer about their opinions on different screw head shapes (philips/robertson/etc.), insisting on a personal response, they would probably say something like "Fuck it, why can't they just settle on one design that won't strip/slip and transfers a perfect 50/50 split between torsion and impaction? All the different kinds are redundant to me and I really don't care to learn more because it just doesn't matter to me and I'm more interested in spending my time on other things right now."
So fuck it, who cares what Tyson has to say about that. He probably has real informed opinions on other topics.

>guy who just quotes shit from a random section of wikipedia and exposes himself to not know what the fuck he's talking about he's what happens when the average redditor lives long enough to become an "adult" people like him are why anyone would rather be stupid than "smart" making being smart a meme is one of the worst things to happen to mankind since the plague if this fuck was around the 60's like this, we'd never get to put a man in the moon fuck the big bang theory
Lincoln Cooper
Fucking thank you. Being smart =/= being well-informed.

Anons, I...
Ian Ward
Thats fake, right?
Carson Cruz
It's fake, you morons. Neil Degrasse Tyson loves cidya and even helped make some.
The only notable person who calimed vidya wasn't art was that faggot critic from fatistan, and he changed his mind before dying of diabeetus.
I think he's trying to make a hidden point, by stating the obvious: That science is an objective truth, and can't be misinterpreted or lost in translation by different cultures or viewpoints (barring weird difficult-to-translate languages). A world of science is a world of agreement on evidence, or providing better evidence. The only war that could come from a world of science is from anyone attempting to hide or misrepresent the truth.
But honestly, I'm hesitant to even give him that much credit. He probably did just think that "ideological conflict results in armed conflict" was brodeep.

Thats Roger Ebert you dumb double niggers
Robert Sanders
Thank you kanye, very cool

> wrongly attributing ebert-sama's words to kneel the grass tie son so you have an excuse to talk about him on a Hong Kong semaphore forum
>"Video Games will never be an artistic medium" That's literally not a quote from him you fucknig retard.
Liam Long
You really like your screw heads huh?
Sebastian Diaz
I was actually using that as an example of me not knowing shit about screw heads. That is literally almost everything I know about screw heads, and it's also my opinion on their different shaped slots; I get told off by anyone who knows half their shit about hardware all the time. To my shame, like Tyson, I just don't care enough to learn more about them either.
Wyatt Richardson
WHO FUCKING CARES WHAT SOME FUCKING BOOMER SAID! Fucking Ebert couldn't even be trusted to DECIDE what is the absolute definition of art nor can his peers, I shit you not. So why should anybody care? He died along with his old ways, no one will remember him for hating new things, neither should we.
Carson Gonzalez
He’s right. This is the worst of all “artistic” mediums.
Bentley Jackson
It literally doesn't matter. Games are games, wheter or not they can be considered an art form doesn't change anything
Tyler Kelly
He never said that. Although this is a very good thread, it shows that people will immediately believe random shit they read on Yea Forums.
Noah Cruz
The only smart thing black science man ever said was that people should use facts over feelings after the two semirecent mass shootings.
Dominic Thompson
>Underage faggots getting trolled
So this is why Yea Forums is shit now. It's full of soft-headed dumbasses who get baited into fucking anything
Carter Myers
thanks for all the you's :)
Isaac Martinez
this isn't even true. There has been many wars where both parties had the same belief
