Smash should have stayed first party only, the intrigue of new characters that weren't very recognisable were always far more appealing than adding all these third parties that don't usually don't fit in with the rest of the characters, like Joker and Snake and whatever SNK will add.

I'm still waiting for that one third party that actually makes sense in the sense of a collaboration with Nintendo or having worked with them previously to make a game that was a success in the most recent years that doesn't feel like marketing push and more like authentic genuine care over a character rather than just for either nostalgia points, fanservice or pushing a game yet to be released.
no luck asides from Banjo and even Banjo was something like twenty years ago. Dragon Quest should have been in years ago, not now when the composer has gone asinine proprietary of his own compositions enough to only give MIDIs just because he was afraid to lose sales on his orchestral CDs

I feel like a lot of the third party characters have been REALLY cool to see, but we're getting to a point that the impact is lessened.
They could stop with third parties forever at Banjo and I wouldn't be heartbroken

Technically Saki isn't, but the character next to Lip is Saki's son. Same reason why Karate Joe is missing with the Chorus Kids present. Also, is OP missing an ARMS character?

I don't mind whatever Sin and Punishment rep we'd get, I generally love that series and I hate that Saki got removed as an Assist Trophy. Also, can't believe I forgot an ARMS character, I must be high.
You say that like Ice Climbers, Pit and Wii Fit Trainer weren't all "scraping the bottom of the barrel". Fuck off, all these characters are far more interesting than some of the third party stuff we've gotten.
