Can we get a grand strategy thread going? What game do you play?
Also, what are other GS games that aren't made by Paradox?
Can we get a grand strategy thread going? What game do you play?
The only one worth playing is CK2.
>look up IR to see how it is doing
oof
I got CK2 for free and haven't played it yet, seems like too big a time commitment.
It's not, you can pace yourself.
They mixed the worst shit about their previous games and ramped up the jewing to 12.
It should get better after the remove mana patch.
what the fuck happened here?
1.2 beta is currently the least mana focus of all the GSG. The only problem is the lack of content on certain regions/cultures such as Tibet, Arabs and anyone below Egypt.
Imagine going to a restaurant you loved 15 years ago, to find out that it now serves garbage.
You talk to the owner and tell him to get his shit straight, he tells you not to worry he's gonna fix it.
6 months later you go back, order the special, he punches you in the face, takes of his pants, squat over your face and literally shits down your throat, then asks for a tip.
Johan ignored the feedback he was getting in the dev diaries.
>least mana focus of all the GSG
Literally the only mana in CK2 is gold, which doesn't really count anyway since it doesn't limit your expansion or technology.
Just start playing Madyas, plan to become pirate republic but I don't know what should I do after unify Philippines, any idea?
Take exploration and go west to do the Sun Invasion chivo
bump
I play Vicky II, Stellaris, Hegemony 1 and 3, and own Mount & Blade.
How's Stellaris these days?
>piety
>prestige
>not mana
Are you genuinely retarded?
Never played a grand strategy, I play Dota, total war, and football manager so never really interested in committing the time to learning one
it's not that bad. it's a comfy, funny and fun game.
i like it over 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning.
>and football manager
If you're any good at this shit, GS's, especially paradox ones minus HoI3, don't even have the 50% complexity of manager
This coming from someone who has played and mastered every single paradox GS game (even the oldies like CK1, Vicky 1 and EU3)
Who the fuck plays with achievements? You have just play a infinitely more boring game without mods for jack shit
>This coming from someone who has played and mastered every single paradox GS game (even the oldies like CK1, Vicky 1 and EU3)
This of course, I did before I picked up manager a couple of years back
Piety and prestige aren't just a flat number that goes up depending on your ruler, it's a hole intricate system where traits, actions, or circumstances can increase or decrease them. Besides it's more akin to a score system since both have very little in game purposes.
This shit is like saying money is mana, fuck off
Haven't played it since they changed everything. I had 150 hours in it.
I guess I should redownload and try to get used to it.
Been playing Fm for past 12 years, which one is the one to start with so? Crusader Kings? Should I get it on torrent with all dlcs to save money
money in Ck2 is the "i win" button in the late game because there's really no challenge unless you're fighting china.
I only wouldn't recommend Victoria 2 or Hearts of Iron. EU or CK boils down to your preference of history period and sim/single char/dynasty management vs country/state management
As a manager player, I reckon you'd find CK2 far better to your liking. I also advise torrenting it totally. Fun fact btw, if you buy the original game on steam, you can pirate the DLC's and activate them on your steam, and Valve will be none the wiser.
You spend the whole game getting to that point though, and by the point you get so OP it's no longer fun, you can start a new game, or play another game
The only challenge for the game for me now is getting the empire tier achievements. Only ones I don't have are outremer and sassania.
(persian empire)
>Also, what are other GS games that aren't made by Paradox?
Risk
>buy euiv base game because I'm curious about the genre and I like the time period
>have fun for a few hundred hours, eventually drop off
>boot it up again a couple months ago
>paradox has made the game unplayable without more shekels
just make it subscription based you greedy sweedy scum
I have a blast with stellaris but never really got into the other games despite repeated attempts to try. I'm a brainlet though so that might explain things.
It's been over a decade since Paradox got 'famous' for its grand strats
What the hell have they had for competition all this time? Did they even technically invent the genre? It's not really analogous to 4X
Mughals or Mewar?
I'm waiting for MEIOU to reach 3.0 and Kaiserreich to get that China update
Can't play Vicky 2 anymore
CK2 HiP is good but i'm not feeling it right now
They bought out all the competition
How's HoI4 now?
Are there any good games about the 1492-1776 period?
CK2 is the only fun one because it's character-based and far more personal. The rest are just boring map painters or economy sims.
What are some fun countries/lords?
Its acceptable with mods
Europa Universalis
RPing is for faggots
Mod name of the nation and UI please.
>Europa Universalis
I said good ones.
MEIOU,the UI is the one included with it
Lead developer is essentially puling a pic related
Mewar for infinite discipline
>MEIOU&T
When your main argument involves a buzzword like mana that you have to explain to everyone who hasn't played the games, it makes that argument a whole hell of a lot weaker.
Looks like I have made a huge mistake not playing with that mod. I will go download it right now.
Thanks.
