It's ok. I wish the game had more interesting characters or actual mysteries to solve if so much of it was going to be detective work. Instead most of the detective stuff is just fetch quests, the best ones are the unique minigames. Too much mediocre platforming in the boring red world too.
I wish it was as tight and well paced as other platinum games.
Combat is great though.

I just beat Homunculus B but I'm very confused. What the fuck was I supposed to do in that fight? I ran out of billboards to throw at him and he wouldn't stop fucking climbing on the walls like an asshole. Eventually I just had to shoot down like a third of his lifebar. Good lord the camera in that fight is unbelievably garbage.
Somehow ended up with an S+ though. Was it possible to chain counter his charge somehow?

It's fine to play on journalist mode if you're rushing to get a review out.
Here I'll give you some pointers for when you start typing: female characters are all brainless big boobed sex objects, combat is shallow and nothing but repetitive mashing, dialogue and story are shallow which is no surprise for a Japanese game that are stuck in the past, and there's no score grading system.
Hope this helps you out on your hour and a half playthrough on journalist difficulty

where are you in the game? after file 3 getting s+ ranks is simply a matter of using all your tools in a fight
this means things like sync attacks, switching between legions and weapons, releasing your legion, perfect calls, chain binding, L special attacks etc
start filling up the skill tree of your legions and use everything in the combat system and even if you take damage you'll get S/S+ ranks

At chaper 6 and I really wish there wasn't such a huge downtime between combat. Also the sections in the red world or whatever the fuck it's called are already starting to wear thin.

Just started and I found the combat to be boring in the intro mission, but once I saw the shit you could do in the training, plus all the legions it seems pretty fuckin awesome

You go at your pc in HQ. You lose all your progress in your current file though, so do only do it at the beginning of a file.
Though you are in the HQ only at the beginning of the file mostly
