Explore around the map to find useful items. Don't just go straight into your objective. At the start of the game, when you're in liberty island, you can grab a baton off a dead soldiers body and use it for nonlethal stealth knockouts. Other than that, the game isn't all that difficult. You shouldn't have too much difficulty learning and adapting.
