That it used to be incredible and since the director is changing I have to at least see if P6 turns things around.

P5 killed my interest in it, mainly because the characters lacked the vibrance the ones from previous titles had.

4>3>5

P1 was trash

4>5>3. i wouldve agreed if tartarus weren't the literal fucking worst

Nah, it's more people going to fight over what game is better thread, take your shit forced meme else where

Characters>gameplay, user. Persona is a VN, remember?

Tartarus isn’t much worse than the braindead dungeons of 4 and 5

Aigis never really grew on me. I liked her existentialist questioning in January, where she had no idea why she continued to live, but reaffirming it with the EXACT SAME THING she did before still felt forced. It felt like she had no identity beyond that of being Door-kun's personal guardian robot, and there was no buildup or incentive for me to think that was believable beyond the forgotten reason of "I need to monitor Arcana Death that I sealed in this child whose parents I killed".

persona would work so much better as a vn. the characters arent fleshed out enough for me to care, the dating sim aspects are non existent, and the combat is just generic. the lack of focus ruins these games

I love these PlayStation exclusive videogames

Whose butt is smellier?

Why Yu is so lucky, lads?

Attached: 2c89256715c393b6fafde1f8dba3a3bf937e53aa.jpg (800x800, 526K)

I agree. It makes no sense why these games aren’t more like VNs when there are long stretches of nothing due to the calendar system.

Probably Aigis, who likely smells like oil and gunpowder. Mitsuru had a habit of taking showers and then lounging around her room naked.

it could also take the alternate route and double down on the gameplay to be something like etryian odyssey. either way the product that we have now strives to be two things and achieves neither

Is that supposed to be Naoto or Door-kun?

You tell me

There is Persona Q for that

You have a jewtube channel

He is the ultimate chad and the anime made it even more obvious

You're confusing me with someone else user

Yukari deserves to die alone

Its better then anything else the SMT series can dish out and even the other spinoffs combined.

let me play as a girl.

asians*
you low iq monstrosity

low effort anime shit

Anyone that goes into alleys at night, provokes the criminals there and hides behind you deserves to get raped and killed in said alley

>Characters can't make mistakes and learn from them

Maybe its the way I play these games but I always try to finish a section of tartersauce/tv dungeons in day one since i dont wanna waste precious days.
This kinda forces me to gind for a long time in a single dungeon run, earning exp to defeat the boss and earn money to heal and stuff.
Im stuck with killing the same type of shadows while constantly going back and forth and the combat isnt exactly anything spectacular so the whole dungeon becomes so fucking boring.
Any of u fag also do something like this?

Attached: 1553239314025m.jpg (938x1024, 136K)

Now post the Aigis one

I do that too. Eventually I just prioritize encounters based on size and shadows within. Large shadows are nice for lots of experience, but if they're a pain to kill quickly I'll just run.

Im a beginner but how the fuck do you trigger shuffle time? Is there a way to trigger them more often?

GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING Yea Forums! Just wanted to stop by and let you know that I, Nyarlathotep, am going to be in Persona 5: Royal!
Hahahahahahaha!

Attached: nyarly.jpg (210x240, 20K)

It will always happen if you personally finish off the last shadow, or if you end it with an All Out Attack, regardless of turn. If one of your party members ends it, there's only a small chance it'll happen.

So aim for knockdowns.

I enjoyed Persona 3 but Fuuka really didnt need to be in it. She's probably the second worst character in the series (first being Futaba) and her SL is all about muh cooking! Her hair is gross looking and she lets herself get bullied. She then proceeds to befriend the bully. Fuuka's job as a navigator was also poor, telling me to run away in the midst of battle. Im suprised Fuukafag hasnt made a 3 page paper on why Fuuka is a good character with her redeeming qualites. Her "looking pretty" is not a good reason for her being a good character. To me, she has less personality then Kenji. KENJI!

Attached: fuuka.png (338x438, 63K)

Is he supposed to look like Shinji from Eva?

>Persona
The core concept is okay, but it's been taken in such a bullshit direction with all the wannabe niggershit, that it's unbearably obnoxious, all the way down the UI now.

Shinji is the building block of which you create any perfect faggot you want to drown in in a tub while double teaming. So probably

Thanks user kun.

Yeah its a shame because Im playing through P4G and I love everything about the game except the dungeons.
Its so cozy until you have to do the dungeons.

I can see Shinji ending up like Adachi as he got older to be honest.

Lmao she didn't learn shit, she didn't even fucking apologuze for it to Junpei or you.
It's imcredible to me how she gets away with so much fucking bullshit without suffering any consequences herself, I dream of the day she gets what's coming to her

It's not.

>neonazi
what

Better than any fight from 5.

I'm pretty sure she teased Junpei for being scared of dying when they found out about Nyx, If I'm remembering correctly. That's a pretty shitty thing to do.

She also hates Aigis because she was with door-kun when he died

She's also an all-around bitch desu and very unlikeable

When's the next SMT announcement?

based

2 weeks

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Nazism

>I'm pretty sure she teased Junpei for being scared of dying when they found out about Nyx, If I'm remembering correctly. That's a pretty shitty thing to do.
Yes, she teased him and then he immediately told her off for it. Junpei in the same scene also blamed Door-kun for harboring Death within him for ten years and not doing anything about it, which Yukari then told him off for. Everyone was freaking out in that scene.

>She also hates Aigis because she was with door-kun when he died
This is the entire point of The Answer, coming to terms with his death. Yukari goes through all five stages of grief in painful agony, and at the end apologizes for her insanity throughout and asks Aigis to be her roommate so they can work out any residual issues left between them.

>She's also an all-around bitch desu and very unlikeable
Not really. She's pretty likable.

And 4

Sorry Junpei, I can't do All Out Attacks here. They'll actively get me killed.

Attached: 789846546561.png (1439x1079, 1.46M)

speaking of Royal, i'm kinda bummed out they aren't gonna offer like a few gig download update and price cut for those who already own the game. I understand you gotta make money and all but damn, I feel like i'm getting fucked hardcore by atlus

...

She forces herself on the party on the full moon love hotel mission, which if she's underleveled you're basically forced to 3 man the bosses.
She then slaps you for no reason and threatens to never talk to you again (Which would be a blessing)

In the Answer she is even worse and instigates infighting and calls both Aki and Junpei cowards for not wanting to fuck with the timeline

She's an agressive cunt that fucks up constantly and never makes up for her mistakes, and then she still doesn't lose anything at all while everyone around her keeps having to put up with stuborness

Not really, surprising, cast Personas were always redesigned from their former appearances in both Persona and other Megaten games. Look at Kanji's Take-Mikazuchi or pancake boy's Loki, if they are important, they are getting new shit more in line with general aesthetics of the game.

Racist

What on earth does that have to do with the topic at hand?

I can see now that the persona games are a time a place sort of deal. With 3 and 4 I was sympathizing with the main cast and their personal goals, but with 5 I found more and more often that I empathized with the villains rather than the main cast who just repeatedly yelled 'but that's wrong' over and over again while beating their asses.

Ask

>She forces herself on the party on the full moon love hotel mission, which if she's underleveled you're basically forced to 3 man the bosses.
You can always reload a save and your party will never tire on the day before a full moon. Also, why is Yukari underleveled? You should be leveling all your party members equally in anticipation of these bosses. And it's not like the Full Moon Shadows are difficult, the guardians in Tartarus are stronger.

>She then slaps you for no reason and threatens to never talk to you again
She slaps you because you saw her naked, then gets dressed, and then apologizes to you. The game hints that the same thing happened to Mitsuru and Akihiko if they're in your party too when you reunite.

>In the Answer she is even worse and instigates infighting and calls both Aki and Junpei cowards for not wanting to fuck with the timeline
And she gets punished hard for this by having all rights to the keys be denied her, as she works through her bargaining phase into the depression phase.

>She's an agressive cunt that fucks up constantly and never makes up for her mistakes, and then she still doesn't lose anything at all while everyone around her keeps having to put up with stuborness
Yukari CONSTANTLY makes up for her all the mistakes she makes. She knows she's got lots of issues and fucks up, but also tries to make amends for when she truly does something wrong. She's not an angel.

Yeah right. Its dead kid, its being reused for the next persona game.

T. Retard
Pessimistic shitposters love to act retarded. The director, Yamai, said the development was going smoothly. Long development cycles for Atlus titles are nothing new, especially after the whole "Coming Winter 2014" fiasco with P5.
>SMT IV surpassed 600k sales during the middle of the 3DS's lifetime
>Switch user base is massive, and JRPG's have been rather successful on it, meaning it could easily surpass a million sales and let Atlus know that SMT is still sailing smoothly
Truthfully, all Atlus has to do is market the series more, and properly. There's no doubt in my mind that it could blow up if given enough focus. I'm hoping we start seeing actual trailers, or gameplay around next year though, since they're probably waiting for a shitty game like P5R to dwindle down before doing anything. It'd be dumb for them to focus on SMTV right now since the spotlight is on P5.

>Yukari CONSTANTLY makes up for her all the mistakes she makes
How? Her apologies are rare. The one time she makes up for her mistakes is with MItsuru and only because her dad dies.
Tell me one time that Yukari did something to make amends with people she wronged , where she didn't just go "oops my bad" and redeemed herself as a person.

Cope

right is unironically better

They didn't abandon spinoffs. That gacha game, #FE, and Persona all came out. In addition to the game being developed as you shitpost. Cope

We won't find that out until it comes out or if it ever does. I wouldn't be surprised if they abandon the series all together just like they did with the other spinoffs. They found their pot of gold so why bother?

Anyone have a picture of Aigis with feet?

Guess will find out if we ever get any news on it.

>The one time she makes up for her mistakes is with MItsuru and only because her dad dies.
There isn't really even a mistake here. Yukari did not trust Mitsuru because she thought Mitsuru was withholding crucial information from the rest of SEES, and she was right. She made an effort to build a friendship between them after Mitsuru's father died and get her to open up, because she sympathized with her.

>>Tell me one time that Yukari did something to make amends with people she wronged
>Yelled at Door-kun for trying to make her feel better during the beach vacation, then apologized for it immediately afterwards as she was too upset to think straight
>Yelled at her mother while on a date for her mother's promiscuity and parental abandonment, then later wanted to try and meet her to make amends, with Door's help to give her the courage to rebuild the relationship
>Admitted she was too consumed by grief and jealousy over Aigis being there for Door in his final moments and inheriting the Wild Card, and so she didn't consider that other people would be suffering as much as her. She then apologized and resolved to make amends by living as best as she could, with Door watching over her, and asked Aigis to be her roommate

The alley fight is like the only thing she gets away with, and that's just to show Shinji being a badass headbutting punks. Junpei even forgets he got punched in the gut after Shinji scares everyone off.

Oh shit it's the two best girls, nice

That would be sick but it's not gonna' happen. The most amount of reference you get to the older persona games is a butterfly like with lavenza in persona 5, or the saving in persona 4.

Attached: persona3_aigis.png (900x900, 315K)

God i love Yukari. I consider the manga being canon.

The butterfly is in all the Persona games. He directly gives Aigis her wild card.

i wouldnt know about that one, Yea Forums told me years ago to not bother with fes' expansion because apparently it sucks

Fuuka brought a nice contrast to a team full of orphans and dead parents.
SEES was mainly focused on their own individual goals (becoming stronger, being a hero, finding more about the past etc.) Fuuka's only interest was keeping the team safe and helping them complete the mission.
This adds a good variety to the cast and helps make them feel like a well organized team.

Her S.link is also not just cooking, cooking is like 3 ranks at most out of 10. Anyone that says it was just cooking is clearly someone that never paid attention to her at all and was just fastforwarding to get it over with.
Fuuka's link is about her getting over her impulsive need to be helpful to others, learning that friendship isn't based on being useful, and that she doesn't need to change or hide who she is to make friends.

I love all the qualities that make Fuuka, her selflessness, her honest heart, her brilliant mind. All that composes Fuuka is amazing to me.
She needs to be supported, loved and appreciated, because those qualities are rare, and when nurtured, given strength and support they can do so much good to the world.
I want to see Fuuka happy, because if she's happy, then I am very sure I'm 100% certain that everyone around her will also be happy.

Attached: My Angel Fuuka.png (902x511, 332K)

Kinda does. It was really unnecessary.

wtf why does it look like persona 3 portable? i can see every pixel

Anyone else think Persona should go back to bittersweet endings like the ones in P2 and P3?

Blame PCSX2. I'm playing FES.

I blame you for not knowing how to use a fucking emulator or having a shit PC

Then blame printscreen, as the game looks fine to me while I'm playing it. I'm not having any issues.

Attached: 8decf75c2b9fa42f42171c8283fad32126d06fba.jpg (1500x1000, 221K)

You forgot Innocent Sin MMO in P3 and fact that Mitsuru's father company is connected with Nate's corporation

Who designs a robot with a fat ass?

Do you really expect there to be a P6? And if so, in your lifetime?

It took 10 years for P5.

Good people.

She doesn't even have one. Its just fucking fanart and porn art the gives her one. How can anyone still want to tap that?

>How can anyone still want to tap that?

Unironically personality. Back in the day characters weren't predesigned as waifus, they just became waifus as a result of their characters.

So you'd fuck a bug humanoid with a good personality? Head and everything.

>Back in the day characters weren't predesigned as waifus, they just became waifus as a result of their characters.

Bullshit. This site was built on waifufaggotry over characters like Rei, Asuka, Faye, etc.

Yes.

And this disproves my point how?

Attached: hollow-knight-hornet-dlc-666x374[1].jpg (666x374, 22K)

What if it was something with no sex appeal at all like a talking tree?

>How do you feel about the Persona series?
Apparently Wada is working on his Re Fantasy title, so I don't know who the director for P6 will be. Hopefully someone who can craft a better plot, and characters. That aside though, my only gripes at the moment are
>We need better dungeons and gameplay mechanics
>More innovation to the school system so you're actively doing something there, like maybe picking your classes and doing specific tasks to boost stats and unlock stuff for your Personas, etc
>Less development cycles for games
The last point is the biggest issue, though. I don't necessarily mind long development cycles if the final product is based, but Atlus takes ages.

I think out of all the characters in Persona 3 Fuuka was the most unrealistic and realistic at the same time.

She's so incredibly inoffensive and unassuming you forget she has problems just like the rest of the cast, problems made worse when you realize nothing can help her escape them. She forgives her bullies in a way that makes you wonder if the only reason she didn't care is because she was hurt worse in the past. She learns to be more assertive in her SL but she ends the game in the same place she started -- still crushed under the yoke of her parents and without friends.

>Without friends
Did SEES stop existing or something? That aside though, her character could have used more depth.

With how many?

>no sex appeal at all
No PHYSICAL sex appeal you mean
>not wanting to embarrass your unconventional tree waifu with pdas like watering her in front of others

Nah. Keep in mind that I actually like Persona.

Persona 3 did it's story right when it was happening but I could never recommend or replay it because of everything else in between. Persona 4 Golden has the best pacing even if the new girl sucked. Persona 5 was the best persona up until part way through the second palace.

No one had an ass in P3, it was a charcter model limit

Well, even if he never shows up himself, we at least know that he is in fact there. He is the one who created Shadows, after all. As long as humans exist, so too does he.
or has that been retconned? i don't remember.
In Persona 3 Shadows are fragments of Nyx's psyche mixed in with human psyches, taking physical form.

Gross get a better waifu

Fuuka forgives Natsuki because Natsuki literally got on her knees and begged for forgiveness. She saw how legitimately remorseful she was and Fuuka could never hold a grudge to someone that looked so devastated for what they had done.
Even if because of Natsuki Fuuka ahd to spend more than 10 hours alone in a tower full of monsters, she knew Natsuki didn't mean to do that to her.
Fuuka is a compassionate girl because no one has shown compassion to her, no one has forgiven her, she hates how cold and strict people have been with her, and so she doesn't want to be like that to anyone else.

Oh, for the actual game it's alright. Fun school life sim mixed with neat TBS action.

Yosuke, Rise and Akihiko voiced half of the Mojave.

Is the Persona 3 anime a good way to supplement the games for someone who's burnt out on 100 hours video games but wants to experience the story/music?

>Me: No, she's a robot. The servos and gears would rip you to shreads
>Dick: Shut up, human!

P3 Movies only cover the main plot shit and none of the social links/side stuff other than a brief slideshow of MC doing them. Its alright and by far the best anime adaption of the modern persona games but you miss out on the Journey

3 > 5 > 4
Seething 4farts need not apply.

Kinda sorta. It heavily favors Aigis over a lot of the other stuff and changes some characterization around.

I like it, and I'm working my way through the series before I check out SMT. I finished all the nu-personas, so I'm currently playing through P1.

Underrated girl desu

she's a virginstacy

Yuko, Ai, and Hifumi are the most underrated girls in their respective games IMO

It's kind of challenging to get into the head space of a high-schooler as someone in their mid twenties. Especially since it's pretty un-realistic wish fulfillment anime high-school. That and some typical complaints I have with how VNs handle agency in general for the not JRPG stuff.

Combat and dungeons is pretty cool. Can get a little repetitive, but that kind of comes with the territory so I'm not sure if I would say that's a con or a neutral for me.

Aesthetically I tend to like Shin Megami Tensei in general. Visually and audibly.

You should beat it to Mitsuru, because Yukari a shit.

Mitsuru is OBJECTIVELY the best Persona girl

>rich
>huge tits
>red hair
>stockings
>owns a private island
>genius
>hard worker
>dominatrix

>virgin despite being seen as a mature woman

The best girls in modern Persona.

The lips and hair always make me think she's black, but, yeah, it's pretty ovbious that she's supposed to be the tanned athletic type. Or Okinawan.

Probably Okinawan

Why is P3 MC afraid?

He just remembered he left the oven on and the pastries he's cooking will burn.

Each of those dudes is very good at killing.

Ya, but the P3 MC stop death itself and all of them are kinda failures.

Same

>I want to fuck Makoto.
Same! Yes! Yes! I love filling her tight little baby hole with my dick while molesting her precious little mouth with my tongue! I'm going to wrestle her lips into submission and suck out her sweet saliva while pouring my seed into the depths of her soil! Let me drink the nectar from her mouth as our toungues violently lash against one another; as our mouths become one I will squirt my milk into her baby hole and fill you with my children! I WILL MAKE YOU MINE MAKOTO!!!

I like how she was extremely unsure of what she wanted to do, in contrast with so many others who instantly knew what they wanted to do. She just wanted to hang out and eventually her mind wandered to the prospect of having kids with you, before she realized it.

They've killed beings stronger than Nyx

Not really and honestly they for the most part are all failures that couldn't truly kill the being that was really fucking with. Demi Fiend even become Lucifers Bitch

Didn't one dude kill YHVH?

Only partly

I like the club book's backstory for Nyx.

>Aigis: Could you tell me what Nyx really is, bluntly and unpoetically?

>Ikutsuki: In order to speak about this, we need to take a step back and look at our planet’s prehistory first. In ancient times, there existed a gigantic living being, the size of a celestial body, drifting through outer space in a dormant state. We call such a being a “Star Eater”. At a certain point in time, this being collided with a planet which had only just begun to develop its first forms of life - earth. The chance of this happening was merely one in several Million - no, Billion. In any case, this event can be seen as the first contact between Nyx and earth’s lifeforms.

>Aigis: So, Nyx was born in extraterrestrial space? It seems miraculous that the planet was not destroyed by this kind of impact.

>Ikutsuki: Of course, you are correct. The matter Nyx was composed of existed under physical laws which defy those of earth. Even the mere collision alone brought tremendous results with itself. In any case, the debris broken off in the shock of the collision entered earth’s orbit and became our moon. As Nyx’ psyche, which exists in a wave-like state, was left behind on earth, her physical body was enclosed in the moon alongside the debris. However, you see, the psyche was the far more problematic part of this being to begin with.

>Ikutsuki: The waves of Nyx’s psyche, which spread across the planet, stood in harsh contradiction with the life already existing on it and threatened to eliminate said life entirely. Of course, the still very primitive, survival-instinct driven lifeforms of earth made attempts to resist these 'Waves of Death’. As a result of this, the lifeforms of earth entered a period of explosive evolution, and developed coping-strategies to resist Nyx, weapons against her. The crown of this development was a plane of shared information between all living beings on earth, the so-called “Collective Unconscious”.

>Aigis: A plane of information…? How exactly could such a thing act as a weapon? Does it contain a form of tremendous power, strong enough to eliminate Nyx?

>Ikutsuki: No, no, you misunderstand. You see, the life existing on earth had sealed the energy of Nyx’ psyche within this Collective Unconscious. What acted as the source of power needed to seal this energy were opposing thoughts, such as the desire not to die or the fear of death itself, which suppressed deadly effects of Nyx’ spirit. It is quite the irony of fate that Nyx, who was meant to embody the demise of all life on earth, ended up becoming the catalyst that allowed for earth’s living beings to evolve into lifeforms with complex, sentient psyches. It should be mentioned that the greek goddess “Nyx”, who our Nyx takes her name from, is portrayed as a maternal goddess, embodying a powerful Mother-Archetype. So you see, the knowledge of the truth that in a way we are all Nyx’ children has probably been with people since old times.

>Aigis: It seems very profound.

>Ikutsuki: If you consider it this way, my ability to make such clever jokes and puns, too, is something we must thank Nyx for.

>Aigis: How unforgivable of Nyx.

>Ikutsuki: Aigis, must you hurt me so…? Well, leaving this all aside, the fact of things was that as long as living beings - especially humans, who hold the most powerful, complex psyches - kept living in fear of death, Nyx should have remained sealed. In our story, however, unfortunately— Ahhh, I mean 'fortunately’, the leader of our S.E.E.S. managed to just barely avoid the worst-case scenario of a revival of Nyx and resealed her by making use of his acquired “Universe”-Arcana. What a waste…

>Aigis: There do appear to be people who do not mind their own death… May I also ask, what did become of this so-called 'physical body’ of Nyx?

>Ikutsuki: After it had become one with the Moon, the body, which had been wounded in the collision, proceeded to gradually heal itself. I am not entirely sure, but it is very possible that by the time of our story the healing process was already just about completed. However, in its current state the body is but a mere shell. Until its psyche is freed from its seal, it will remain in idle waiting. After the battle against the Nyx Avatar, Nyx’ body began to descend onto the planet, called by its psyche. But after the seal was placed, it has once more returned to being our non-threatening, friendly, smiling moon.

>Aigis: What exactly is this “Fall” that Nyx was going to bring?

>Ikutsuki: As I have stated before, it is the event of Nyx’ Psyche, which is sealed in our Collective Unconscious, being liberated of its binds and becoming free. Moreover, if this were to happen, the moon, which is merged with Nyx’s physical body, would unite with Nyx’s psyche, returning her to her original form. This would be this planet’s doom and thus the end of the world as we know it - The Fall. In reality, this event has already almost occurred many times in world history.

>Aigis: Is that so?

>Ikutsuki: Imagine, for example, a large-scale war or the break-out of an epidemic. In such cases, many people begin to think of and consider the possible end of the world. They begin to hate life, the mere thought of continuing to live. If this happens, the powers that repress Nyx are weakened, as people no longer fear death, thus bringing the world closer to The Fall.

>Ikutsuki: The “Prophecy” I spoke about in our story was a recording of many such occurrences from many points in human history. Using the hints in this document, I was able to find a method to free Nyx! Isn’t this amazing?

>Aigis: As amazing as it may be, it cannot be permitted or even encouraged.

>Ikutsuki: *sob*

>Aigis: However… How were people in ancient times, when S.E.E.S. did not yet exist, able to avert The Fall?

>Ikutsuki: Ah, a very good question. You see, when it originally only were hundreds or thousands of people wishing for death, the negative effect this had on the seal were only very small. After all, there are many more people than just that in the world, aren’t there? The combined death-wish of these few thousand people did not suffice to break Nyx’ binds. Moreover, people continued to give birth to abstract existences within the Collective Unconscious, which furthered the human evolution even more.

>Aigis: This is all rather complicated.

>Ikutsuki: To make it simple, this is what gave birth to mythology and religion. Certainly, you know many stories of malevolent deities or demons being defeated by benevolent deities of virtues, which protect our world? These existences we call “gods” protect the balance in the suppressed, unconscious parts of our psyche. Their providence plays an important role in strengthening the seal against Nyx. However, in an age of scientific revolutions, where such religious believes in people fade, the effect of this providence, too, weakens, and then there are also people who desire the End of the World precisely because of their faith. Especially in societies which have entered the information age, local negative developments which further the coming of the fall just a little bit, can end up spreading across the entire world in the blink of an eye, exponentially worsening an effect that was originally only supposed to be limited to a small portion of people. The Fall, as it occurred in our story, may have been initiated by the experiments of the Kirijo Group, however, even if this had not happened, it is very possible that The Fall might already have been coming in the near future…

>Ikutsuki: Or you may also say that sooner or later, things just 'Fall’ into place! Wouldn’t you agree?

>Aigis: If you are referring to the sound of me loading new bullets into my right hand’s “Kiss of Athena”, then, yes. These will be *shot* into place very well.

>Ikutsuki: *sniffle* It’s so hard to find a receptive audience these days. Do you want my soul to call for Nyx again?

>Aigis: What are Shadows?

>Ikutsuki: A good reason to use a flashlight.

>Aigis: The “S” was capitalized.

>*bang!*

>Ikutsuki: OUCH! Aigis, that hurt! Umm… well, then. To answer seriously, Shadows are parts of Nyx.

>Aigis: Does that mean that they are, in fact, not to be seen as her underlings or children?

>Ikutsuki: On the previous page, I explained how Nyx was suppressed in the depths of the Collective Unconscious of all living beings, correct? In other words, Nyx is located in the deepest depths of the unconscious of the psyche of every single living being.

>Aigis: That appears to be the case, yes.

>Ikutsuki: Now, I want you to picture the following: Assume that a certain living being, let us say, Junpei Iori-kun, for example, ends up thinking the following: “Oh man, I totally screwed up that test again~! How am I 'spossed to keep on living as such a loser?” The moment he has such thoughts on his mind, his unconscious would momentarily cease to resist Nyx. Now, what do you suppose would happen in such a case?

>Aigis: If this were to happen, then the “Nyx” in Junpei-san’s heart would surely emerge, even if just for a moment.

>Ikutsuki: Exactly. The part of him that is “Nyx” would emerge from his unconscious into his conscious mind. These fragments of Nyx’ psyche resting in our own are what Shadows truly are.

>Aigis: However, for being parts of something like Nyx, the Shadows surely don’t seem to be particularly well-organized or skilled.

>Ikutsuki: Because they are only very small fragments. They may be petty, however, they hold some special abilities and as they are beings existing in a state of pure thought and emotion, they cannot be destroyed by conventional means alone. Aside from that, however, they are not an especially impressive force on their own. Still, the information and energy contained in these existences we call “Shadows” is essential to the beings they dwell in.

>Aigis: Which means…?

>Ikutsuki: First of all, in order to make the Shadows, which were originally fragments of Nyx, part of their own psyches, the lifeforms of our current earth were required to greatly limit their individual lifespans.

>Aigis: However, I was under the impression that it was perfectly normal for a living being to have a limited lifespan…?

>Ikutsuki: This is the common knowledge about life in its current form, yes. However, the lifeforms in most ancient times were primitive. Unicellular organisms, such as amoebas, could split thir cells and multiply for limitless times, and as long as they were not devoured by other organisms, they also would not die. Earlier, I explained how contact with Nyx triggered explosive evolution in the lifeforms on our planet, however, it seems that this evolution demanded to be repaid by placing a limit on our lifespans.

>Ikutsuki: Aside from this, there is also another important point. The Shadows we hold in our psyches themselves are not just mere prisoners, but have become an essential part of the inner structure of our minds. Without a Shadow, a mind - especially one as highly complex as that of a human being - cannot function properly and ceases to work, as if it had been lost entirely.

>Aigis: Wait… Could this possibly mean…?

>Ikutsuki: Why, yes. The poor fools who have been struck with Apathy Syndrome and become but shadows of their former selves have in actuality all lost the parts of their psyches that contained fragments of Nyx - their Shadows.

>Aigis: I see…

That explain why they need to shoot themselves.

>This Doujin still not on Sadpanda

worst timeline

>Aigis: What does it concretely mean “To be eaten by Shadows”?

>Ikutsuki: I believe the answer should now be obvious. Shadows have never actually been devouring people. Shadows are born of humans and, if that happens, said people become empty shells - “Shadow Men”, if you so will. The illusion that Shadows “eat” people is created because this phenomenon occurs when people are pulled into the Dark Hour. To a mere observe, the Shadows they give birth to appear to be following or attacking the host, and since these people always become victims of Apathy Syndrome, this falsely creates the impression that the Shadows must have devoured the psyches of these people.

>Ikutsuki: In our story, Fuuka-kun’s friend, Natsuki-kun, was said to have heard a Shadow’s voice calling for her when she was dragged into the Dark Hour, but in reality, what she heard was her own voice - The voice of her Shadow, that is. People who hide their fears deep in their hearts and try to forget about death, living without goal or guide, end up following the wishes of the Shadows in their hearts and wander into the Dark Hour, where they become empty shells… Quite a frightening thought, isn’t it? However, Natsuki-kun’s case is a special exception. She found new determination to live and oppose death due to her experiences in the Dark Hour, and was thus able to leave without becoming a Shadow Man. This is an incredibly rare occurrence, but people who manage to do this do exist as well! Aren’t humans fascinating?

>Aigis: …I am beginning to wish I was able to leave as well. May we proceed to the next question?

>Ikutsuki: Much rather, I would like to have you returned to the lab, so they can take a good look at you. I do not like the way you have been talking to me… *sob*

Yep. Akihiko explains it in Persona Q as well, they use the gun-shaped Evokers to evoke the fear of death within themselves, which calls upon their inner psyches to start the fight-or-flight response, awakening their Shadows, or as they knew it then, their Personas, to defend themselves from the cognitive horrors they were experiencing. Which makes me wonder if the method of calling upon their Personas would awaken a different one from a different method. The Investigation Team breaks tarot cards to use theirs. If they instead experienced the fear of death that results from shooting yourself in the head with a gun like SEES does, would their summoned Personas be different?

Anyway, continuing on.

>Aigis: What is the Shadows’ goal?

>Aigis: This is a question I, too, am able to answer. Shadows are aiming to bring about Nyx’s revival. Oh? But, did Ikutsuki-san not explain earlier that the Shadows themselves are Nyx?

>Ikutsuki: You are not wrong. Precisely speaking, their primary goal is to return to their existence as Nyx as she existed originally. They are but tiny fragments of energy as they exist in their current form, so first of all, these fragments are constantly striving to unite and merge with other fragments, which means that Shadows always strive to try and fuse with other Shadows. When enough Shadows have fused and the resulting Shadow has reached a certain level of energy, this Shadows will attract even more Shadows, and thus gradually cause Nyx’ soul to be united and returned to its full power.

>Aigis: The large, powerful Shadows which appeared during full moons were created in the experiments of the Kirijo Group by gathering a large number of Shadows, weren’t they? If so, that would mean…

>Ikutsuki: Exactly. It isn’t even necessary to forcibly fuse them together. As insecurities and doubts spread the wish for the end in the world, sooner or later, this will give birth to gigantic Shadows, even if it may take a certain amount of time. If these gigantic Shadows, too, merge, their power suffices to unite all of Nyx’s psyche and revive her. This is the whole purpose of the Shadows’ existence.

>Aigis: And the whole purpose of our existence is to destroy these Shadows before that can happen! Ahem…

>Ikutsuki: And that is precisely why to the Shadows you are flies in their ointment. I explained earlier that Shadows do not actually ‘devour’ people. However, they do make an exception for Persona Users and will attack them without any sense of mercy. Shadows possess a certain level intelligence and are able to understand that Persona Users pose a hindrance to Nyx’ revival. Likewise, they will also sometimes attack people who have managed to adapt to the Dark Hour after wandering into it, in order to forcibly remove the Shadows suppressed in their psyches and merge with them.

>Aigis: They appear to be clever little beasts.

>Ikutsuki: Aren’t they? Seen from this perspective, wouldn’t you agree that Shadows are actually quite adorable?

>Aigis: The look in your eyes is unsettling, Ikutsuki-san.

>Aigis: What is the meaning of the Shadows’ different Arcana?

>Aigis: I understand that the Shadows are classified in Tarot Cards, beginning with Number 0, “The Fool” and ranging to Number 12, “The Hanged Man”.

>Ikutsuki: If I remember right, you were taught in class that the Tarot Cards can be used to represent the spiritual growth of an individual, correct? It is similar with the classification of Shadows; their Arcana indicates the tendencies and content of the psychological complexes they entail.

>Aigis: And the higher the number of their Arcana, the stronger their power?

>Ikutsuki: Hm, no, not exactly. The Arcana’s number indicates the grade of maturity the Shadow has reached, but all grades are quite necessary to compose Nyx. You need Shadows which tend to all different Arcana meanings, from 0 to 12. When you fuse all of these Shadows, they will mutate into the 13th Arcana, Death. This Arcana is special and, accordingly with its role as the “Appraiser of the Fall”, indicates that the preparations for Nyx’s revival have been completed.

>Aigis: And that was Ryoji-san. It is sad… He may have been a 'lech’, but that he had to meet such an end…

>Ryoji: You called for me?

>Aigis: Target Located! FIRE!

>Ryoji: Ouch-Ouch-OUCH! That hurt!

>Ryoji: Ah… What a temperament! I generally prefer my ladies without heavy firearms, though.

>Aigis: Be silent and die.

>Ryoji: Hey, hey, calm down. I was just going to try and explain a few things myself.

>Ryoji: The “Death” Arcana is special in that I am capable of carrying the true weight of Nyx’s psyche, allowing her consciousness and power to be transferred into me. This turns me into her incarnation - The Nyx Avatar. In this state, I am a bringer of death, comparable to the grim reaper. The Nyx Avatar will then call to its body in the moon and proceed to become one with it. Nyx would then return to being an existence capable of destroying whole planets, only befitting the name “Star Eater”. It’s making me sad just to think of it.

>Ryoji: But my friend was able to use a trick called the “Universe” Arcana and let me sink into the depths of the Collective Unconscious once more. He’s amazing, isn’t he?

>Aigis: You seem surprisingly happy that The Fall was averted.

>Ryoji: Well, you see- Ah, on the other hand, some things are better left unsaid. I will be taking my leave now. Farewell!

>Aigis: …!

>Aigis: …He’s gone… I have to admit, he is actually a surprisingly kind person.

>Aigis: What are you doing, Ikutsuki-san?

>Ikutsuki: *sob* *sniffle* He explained all the best parts before I could.

I believe Yuko is a dark skinned Japanese.
Although she's athletic and probably spends a lot of time outdoors, I don't think she's simply got a tan. There are plenty of sporty characters in the series such as Chie, Daisuke, and Kou that aren't anywhere close to looking dark.
Since P3 seemed to be going for an urban vibe with a soundtrack featuring hip hop, thugs in alleyways, and graffiti, I think Soejima felt like Tatsumi Port Island should have a few brown characters to sell the idea a little more.
In addition, Gekkoukan is a prestigious school with transfer students from all over the world and likely has some from around the country. Some of these students (including Yuko) could be Okinawan, who generally have a darker tone even without a tan.

I'm also leaning towards Natsuki being naturally dark as well, although there may be the possibility she gets spray tans.

>???: Tartarus, The Dark Hour, The Potential, Transmogrification… I just don’t get any of this!! Just gimme a clue what all of this even means!

>Ikutsuki: Oh my, what an aggressive question. I wonder if we can’t figure out the identity of the person who asked this question, based on the amount of intellect put into it…

>??? (Junpei): Hey, I’m sorry, I’m just not that smart, OK!? And anyway, ’s not like you’re the one to talk, always coming at us with those lousy puns. Who do you think you are anyway, Dave Spector!?

>Ikutsuki: What horrible words from you too, Junpei-kun… You could at least humor me! Won’t you allow a poor man plagued by Nihilism his few pleasures in this world?

>Aigis: Indeed, Junpei-san. You are horrible.

>Ikutsuki: A…Aigis…!

>(Ikutsuki is moved to tears.)

>Aigis: Punishing Ikutsuki-san for his horrible puns is my favorite duty. Your attempt to rob me of said duty is simply to be described as 'horrible’.

>Ikutsuki: W-Wait, that’s what you disagree with!?

>Junpei: Oh well, let’s just leave it at that. Now, gimme a good answer already, pleaaaase!

>Ikutsuki: Alright, now, first of all, let’s all calm down, good? Good, then… ahem. Incidentally, all the subjects mentions in the question addressed earlier are strongly connected to a certain ability of Shadows. So it is actually very convenient to address them all at once.

>Junpei: A certain ability?

>Ikutsuki: Yes. Once a certain amount of Shadows has fused into a sufficiently powerful Shadow, it becomes able to access this potential. This power allows Shadows to manipulate space-time. As I have already explained to you earlier, Shadows gather in order to unite and return Nyx to power. However, unlike living beings, Shadows are existences of pure thought and emotion and do not possess a physical body. Thus, they usually cannot move or act freely in our world. In accordance with this, they need to create a sort of space outside of time, independent of the usual laws of space-time, in which, instead of human beings, Shadows can move freely. This can be accomplished with their ability to manipulate space-time.

>Junpei: And that’s the Dark Hour, huh?

>Ikutsuki: Exactly! Created by the Shadow’s latent abilities, the Dark Hour is a special state of space and time, that can not be interfered with by the usual laws of time and space. In return, this also means that the Shadows are unable to interfere with the living beings existing within normal space-time. Now, to explain Transmogrification, this phenomenon occurs in order to make sure people who are not located within the Dark Hour are not affected by it. Due to this, they only appear as symbols without identity, featureless coffins, while the Dark Hour is in effect. The hard, metal exterior of the coffins symbolizes protection from the Shadows, a shell to avert harm from them.

>Junpei: Ugh… I still don’t get it at all. I mean… what about the people we’ve seen walk into the Dark Hour? What’s different about them?

>Ikutsuki: Ah, you mean those who are able to adapt. Normal people suppress the Shadows in their hearts, however, to suppress one’s Shadow always also means to avert your eyes from the truth. This is only natural, after all, who wishes to be constantly reminded of their own mortality? However, there are also those who are able to face the truth of death bravely, without succumbing to a desire for death. And there is a yet smaller portion among these people, who are able to tame the Shadows in their hearts and use their abilities for themselves.

>Aigis: In other words, the one ones who adapt, the ones with the “Potential”, are those who are able to use the Shadow’s power to time-space-manipulation for themselves?

>Junpei: Um, well, OK, then what about Tartarus!? That’s the thing I understand the least!

>Ikutsuki: Hm, let’s see… You could consider it a sort of antenna. It is a landmark, which Nyx’ spirit uses to call to its body in the moon. That is why the Shadows that have escaped the people in the city are drawn to Tartarus. They gather there in order to fuse and grow stronger, until they are able to return to their full power as Nyx’s psyche. The more Shadows gather in Tartarus and the stronger they grow, the higher Tartarus itself, too, grows. Once it has become tall enough, the physical body the Shadows are calling to descends, along with the moon, in order to merge with it’s sufficiently restored psyche.

It alright.

>Aigis: Why are certain electronic devices, such as Mitsuru’s bike or Aigis able to move during the Dark Hour?

>Ikutsuki: There is a certain material, which plays a crucial role in this answer to this question. It is a material which did not original exist on earth - The Plume of Dusk.

>Aigis: It is the same as the Continue-Item you receive if you play our game on Easy Mode, correct?

>Ikutsuki: Indeed. In reality, these “Plumes” were shed by Nyx when her body fused with the moon, and then fell down onto earth. In other words, they are shards of Nyx’ body. They received the name “Plume of Dusk” for their shape, which resembles the plumage of a bird. These Plumes seem to exist in a state between mass and information, having properties of both. Though they are parts of Nyx, the embodiment of death, they send out a wave very close to the readings of a living being. Further, they carry the potential to the same power of space-time manipulation as Shadows. This is why machines which have a Plume of Dusk inserted into their core can work and be used, even during the Dark Hour. Mitsuru-kun’s bike as well as the Evokers all carry Plumes of Dusk inside.

>Aigis: Then I, most likely, too…

>Ikutsuki: Of course there is a Plume of Dusk at work in your core as well, Aigis. But in your case, this material takes an even greater role. In your Personality Module, there are two equally-sized Plumes of Dusk, crossed in the shape of a Butterfly. We call this special Personality Module “Papillon Heart” and it is one of the greatest results of our research. While it acts as your energy source, it simultaneously also grants you the ability to carry a psyche within you, just like a human.

Brrapp brap braqappp

>Ikutsuki: Unfortunately, it also acts as a Blackbox of your psyche, since we are not able to exactly discern the inner workings and principles of a Plume of Dusk.

>Aigis: This seems like a problematic sort of technology.

>Ikutsuki: Well, you do know what they say: Desperate situations call for desperate measures. And likewise, sometimes it is a good idea to attack the enemy with their own weapons, even if doing so poses a certain risk.

Why is love between two consenting people illegal just because of their age?

>Aigis: Did the experiments the Kirijo Group financed 10 years ago have an actual goal? Also, tell us about Strega!

>Ikutsuki: The Kirijo Group’s Shadow Research began when Kouetsu Kirijo coincidentally came into the possession of one of the Plumes of Dusk I mentioned earlier.

>Aigis: And this was how it began?

>Ikutsuki: At first he was merely hoping to find out more about the mysterious powers of the Plume and to find a way to put these same powers to a good use, however, as the research progressed, Kouetsu learned of the existence of Nyx. What happened afterwards was explained sufficiently in our story. Kouetsu Kirijo soon became obsessed with the idea of The Fall and worked towards facilitating her advent. This is how it came to the experiment which was conducted 10 years ago. Concretely speaking, this experiment was meant to artificially facilitate the Fall by forcibly fusing together gathered Shadows and thus giving birth to Death, without the need for the necessary number of people to give in to demise first.

>Aigis: This was a fate I managed to avert through my reluctant sealing of Death into our Leader…

>Ikutsuki: Indeed. And though my role in the Kirijo Group had only be trivial up to that point, this was when I decided to take things into my own hands. By taking care of all important matters and errands that came up as a result of the failed experiment and absolving them to the superiors’ satisfaction, I was able to ascend in rank within the firm, until I was able to talk to Takeharu Kirijo as an equal. At the same time, I founded S.E.E.S. in order to discern the location of the lost Death Arcana Shadow, and managed to become the Chairman of the Gekkoukan Schools. And then I found the boy who would go on to become your “Leader”.

>Aigis: You are a despicable, ruthless man, Ikutsuki-san. Now, what exactly where the closer circumstances of the births of the members of Strega?

>Ikutsuki: N-No, that didn’t happen. I also definitely don’t know any Takaya…. Ah… Excuse me…

>Jin: Seriously!? At least stand by the fact that you screwed up, instead of just letting your knees shake over there!

>Ikutsuki: Gh… You two…

>Takaya: I believe we should be taking care of the explanations from here on out. During the pursuit of their Shadow Research, the Kirijo Group had already managed to ascertain the existence of Persona Users, people who are able to oppose Shadows with their powers. Still, they did not fully understand the conditions to acquire such potential. This is why Ikutsuki began gathering children and he attempted to bring forth Persona Abilities within them by subjecting them to inhumane experiments. It seems that of the many dozens of test-subjects Ikutsuki had gathered, only we survived… apparently, at least…

>Aigis: Why did they require the test-subjects to be children?

>Jin: Probably because the first person the Kirijo Group was able to prove actually having Persona Potential was that Mitsuru-girl. Anyway, even after all was over, there was no way for us to just relax and live in peace. After all, even if they got us to get out Personas, we were still failures. Then again, even among naturally awakened Persona Users, there’s some who are unstable. I mean, look at that Aragaki-guy.

>Takaya: In any case, we decided to separate from Kirijo. So we took hold of a large quantity of Persona Suppressor Medication and made our escape. As for those of us test-subjects who did not succeed in escaping that day… I believe they were all sent into Tartarus on a first attempt to explore it, and joined the Lost… They were filed as 'missing’ when Kirijo failed to recover the bodies. Following these events, all evidence of the existence of the project to create artificial Persona Users was destroyed or sealed away.

>Takaya: …However, my grudge against the Kirijo Group has long since faded. After all, they did achieve to bring the coming of the Fall so much closer.

>Aigis: It is horrible, that all this had to happen. I believe it would only be correct to give the final word to Ikutsuki-san, in order for him to deliver an appropriate apology.

>Ikutsuki: I will not apologize, Aigis…

>Aigis: ...

Supposedly there's a part 3 to this, but I can't find a translation.

But yeah so from all this it looks like that Nyx is an "outer god" -type existence alien, yet fundamental to life on Earth, while other cognitive beings such as Philemon, Nyarlathotep, Erebus, Izanami, Chronos, and Yaldabaoth were forged from the Colletive Unconsciousness, using the power of Nyx's repressed psyche and collected human psyches to draw power into form.

Philemon represents humanity's collective "potential", acting in opposition to Nyarlathotep's representation of humanity's "wickedness". Erebus is the collective form of humanity's desire for "death", and as its form is gathered from all of humanity, its voice holds much more weight to Nyx than any one individual human's. Likewise, because Erebus is borne from all of mankind it can never die unless all of humanity gives up on desiring death.

Izanami represents humanity's sinful "desires", and Yaldabaoth represents the population of Tokyo's desire for "harmony" above all else, creating a collective mental deity not unlike that of YHVH.

Neat stuff.

What was this from?

The Persona 3 club book, released back in 2006 shortly after Persona 3 was released. I stole the translation off a tumblr that translated the first two sections of the Q&A section.

Oh, that explains why I don't remember reading any of this

Ai is an iffy girl.

I'm gonna import a copy of the club book myself. Translating the rest is as good a reason as any to learn Japanese. And honestly I already liked Persona 3 a lot, but all this info just makes me like the game even more. It's cool shit.

is there a name for this pose?

"ass pose"

3: Yukari
4: Chie
5: Tae
Don't try to change my mind, it won't work.

i mean a searchable name

I like how the very first thing she does when she arrives at his room is look for his porn

Presenting?

I wish the latter Personas had the party member Persona evolution happen during the story instead of just in their social links. Persona 3 did that right, that way the story could have the characters grow into it instead of everything relegated into the ((optional)) links.

Not enough porn of her.

She's the best

Boring and retarded games that I don't care about.

same way as you, it seems

based

This. 5 was the biggest disappointment of the century.

It was okay

tried persona 5, not a fan of dating sims

It wasn’t absolutely awful, but it was boring, bland and pretentious in its use of style and attitude. Definitely a disappointment after all those years spent waiting for it.

>tfw no vita to play P4G

Buy it, play it, resell it.

I want to lovingly hold Aigis' hand as I cum inside her after I install an artificial womb. I want to put a ring on her finger and raise a family with her. I love her.
