Problem is, for every positive, there's a possibly larger negative in this game.
+Feels great to play
-It's repetitive as fuck
+The lore is good
-The story missions are terrible and cringy
+PVP is fun
-There isn't a lot of reasons to play pvp
+Armor design is great
-The best looking armor is through eververse
+Environmental design and artwork is amazing
-It's almost always used in the wrong way. Feels like a rich world but is full of nothing.
And so on...
I can say this as someone who has spent a ton of time in both games and all expansions so far.

The game would have honestly been better as an MMO with the ways its been handling expansions and releases. There's a lot of content I earned in the first game and I just don't feel like starting from scratch in the second. Not only that but we're so late in the game that is it even worth putting the effort in to? May as well wait for a third entry

honestly bungie would probably hop back into peoples good graces if they ported D1 to PC and did a spanking re-release, update some shaders, give it free to legacy owners, and let people port some items along to D2

The Books of Sorrow, The Sword Logic and The Hive in general. The Vex are also pretty interesting. Then again some of the mystery has definitely disappeared.

Sure, it was great in D1 but there's been some good sets in D2 as well. I guess it's up to personal taste but the last Eververse set was really nice.
With that said, i'm not apologizing all the terrible decisions Bungie has made over the years.
