You fags would get mad if Kirby had his melee attacks replaced by sword attacks with the exact same functionality. Having a sword doesn't make a character generic or bland, it's about how they play from a gameplay perspective.
"Swordsman" isn't an archetype. It's a denotation for the type of weapon a character uses. Almost every sword character in the game plays differently aside from echoes. Yes, this includes Marth and Roy.
"Ninja" I feel edges closer to a specific archetype. Fast, nimble, light characters with good frame data, strong combos, fast projectiles, generally weak damage output, and a couple "trick" moves like Sheik's bomb or Greninja's shadow sneak. My only fear with Hayabusa is that he plays the same except he uses a sword instead of a fist for his normals. I want to see him use all sorts of weapons that facilitate unique gameplay elements.

Nah, for "complete" representation, they'd need to rep the FPS genre (Doomslayer or Master Chief, or even just both), the run 'n' gun genre (so pretty much just Bill Rizer), more Western representation with Rayman, survival horrors with Resident Evil, and Dante from DMC (gotta have the progenitor of the entire stylish action genre, plus it's odd seeing Bayonetta there but not him). You can throw Monster Hunter and Phoenix Wright in there as well. Also Chun-Li and Akuma. And that's not even going into first-party stuff, like a proper Ganondorf.

Yes, I believe so. So if any character on the 5chan leak was gonna be wrong it makes sense that it would be Steve. Minecraft content is probably still gonna be in somehow, though. A Mii costume is my best guess, which could also explain the confusion with leaks. A Steve Mii fighter would probably be almost indistinguishable from Steve as an actual fighter, going off of just screenshots.

Maybe a healing gimmick where you have to heal with herbs and shit, with the idea being that Jill/Leon/whoever is really light (like, one of the lightest in the game) and has to manage their resources to survive. Considering that Ryu has more than one counter, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him one. But then his moveset is so varied, that they could give him another move as well. But with the way Ryu's counters work, they could always make it more of a combo starter than an instant kill move too, which would be unique and even fun, so I'm hoping if it is a counter, they just do that instead.

Just because you've never seen it before doesn't mean they don't just use the optimal setups for either damage or a kill confirm. Focus attack allows for more creativity instead of their cancels.
