So, why do people hate the Epic Games Store again?
People claim to love competition and that competition is good because it pushes everyone to be better etc. but the moment a competitor appears they deem them the devil. Same with Netflix. Now that there are multiple competitors they seem upset that they have to pay for 2-3 subscriptions, while still parroting how competition is good despite not understanding how it works.
Yeah, I always took it at the Americans on the internet being upset another country is now getting data. If Google invested in the Epic Games Store they probably wouldn't care. As someone whose country isn't particularly involved with either China or the USA I can only see the positive benefits it can have for developers.

>inb4 seething steam drones killing themselves after 500 replies
Watching streamdrones seeth makes my dick hard. I unironically love seeing GOG and Epic start biting at Gabes heels, Valve is fucking garbage and has been getting worse by the year, yet still has defenders because of Half Life. They treat Valve like its their best friend. Its not only a business but a shitty one, or a great one if you're looking at it with jew vision. They stopped making games the second they could sit comfortably on their 30% and income from the marketplace.
Valve is a joke, Gabe pushes whatever he can without a care about you, paid mods, shitty sales that are a joke compared to what they used to be, trash skinnerbox games like Artifact only made to sell shit on the marketplace, no creative goal behind it what so ever.
Steam is a stagnated piece of trash that has endless problems in both its design and the sheer amount of shit on the store, shit that is let through because Valve don't give a shit about quality control. 30% of an asset flip unity shitter is still 30%, and its all about the money.
When does steam improve? Only when someone bites at it. The community upgrade would have never happened without Discord, the library upgrade would have never happened the other launchers starting to make steam look like out dated trash.
Fuck Valve, and fuck the drones. I'm smiling ear to ear seeing them ironically not get to play the one game they were born for, a drone simulator.
Because there is a proper way to compete that benefits the end user and doesn't hamper their enjoyment.
It sucks I need to maintain a shit ton of accounts just to download and play games, but that has been alleviated because most platforms offer something worthwhile. Epic does not. Epic does nothing the other platforms do any better, in fact it does everything worse. Does it even have a shopping cart yet? I mean it even fails as a store.
If companies want my money they need to do everything short of getting on their knees and sucking my micropenis. Epic does the equivalent of stomp on my balls and make fun of my penis. Why would I give it money?
Ethan Hall
for the same reason I hate EA, Ubisoft and Blizzard and Rockstar Games They offer nothing but shit games bundled in a shitty client full of holes Steam at least comes with tits
because it's incomplete and lacking in features; and a select number of games were advertised as being on steam before being poached by tim the first part is easily fixable given time and development on the platform, but they just don't really seem to be making much progress in that regard
Ayden Gutierrez
Thanks Tim, got Observation and Satisfactory! Absolutely free!
EA invented lootboxes with FIFA and their rehashes Valve doesn't dictate sale discount prices Since you are talking about paid mods and a certain thread on Steam is orbiting around that discussion Hello there Mr Source my Ass Eisberg or forumposter2
I don't think any valve fanboy would ever claim that source is a better to use engine than unreal
Luke Price
>competition is good not in every market, if you have too much choice people ultimately won't buy anything at all
Gavin Martin
Competition is good and all that, but the platform itself is shit for the consumer. Sure the deals they have with developers may be really good, especially when compared to Steam, but people don't care about that
>>this thread with same text and pics again Well, it's the same shill OP after all.
Aaron Barnes
I wonder if there's some connection between making a thread discussing something and using a logo of that something. Maybe next time I want to discuss Steam I'll use an image of the walmart logo
William Wood
Thanks you creepy wanker, got control and metro for free.
Benjamin Thomas
because they're hooked nose jews trying to buy themselves a place on the market and they're more interested in pandering to devs than consumers i will never ever install their shitty launcher
Chase Hughes
Stop shilling your shitty twitter account talking out of your ass while asking for patreon money for your garbage art
>no arguments anymore >your big daddy sold out to china >f-fuck it lets pretend nothing happened >tim i-is selling out data to china >in reality he is investing shitton of money for forrest protection in murica >praise gaben als perfect shitworld so gayben can invest more money in china You guys are delusional
Honestly, my biggest complaint is their strong arm tactics. If they were just opening a secondary story I would give -7 fucks.
However, they're not. They're actively sniping high visibility games (a good chunk from steam wish list numbers) to be exclusives on their platform and force people onto it if they want to play it within (what is it, a year(?)) of its release.
That is my largest complaint with Epic. The China angle is basically just icing.
Competition is good if it benefits the consumer. These exclusive deals only restrict the consumer's options for some time.
Christian Wright
Kill yourself subhuman, he said that in 2011 there is an interview, triggered much by the truth ?
Levi Reed
I never buy games day 1 so it doesn't affect me anyway. I do pirate some epic exclusives. But don't worry devs, I'll buy the goty version in 4 years for 5 bucks on steam.
Brody Jones
>If they were just opening a secondary story I would give -7 fucks That's the point. giving -7 fucks means, in other words, not downloading their store.

I post here once a week. But I suppose that every time a thread is made discussing a specific subject it's the same person making it. You can either try and contribute to the discussion or stay a retard parroting the same shitty insults as half the other posters in here.

>I never buy games day 1 so it doesn't affect me anyway. I do pirate some epic exclusives. But don't worry devs, I'll buy the goty version in 4 years for 5 bucks on steam. Based piratebro. He even buys the games if they're worth it afterward.
because competition is providing same/better services for lower/same prices, not throwing money at developers to include 'exclusivity' which has no place on PC platform and your constant shilling when you already know the answer
Austin Miller
I don't hate it, I would buy Control but I'm not paying $60 for a single player game. If it were like $10 I'd buy it.
Nathaniel Gomez
Because chinkoid insects should not crawl out of their hole. Ideally they should not even exist.
5 bucks max though. Randy is a massive faggot, but selling all the memelands games+dlc for 5 bucks was tempting.
Parker Russell
Don't get salty sweaty I'm not judging since I like a good shitpost too, just saying this is a dead horse you're beating.

Steam is better than epic store
Caleb Rodriguez
it doesn't matter how many people are doing it, if you REALLY wanted answer you would open up archive and search through hundreds of epic store shill threads but nope, you will get btfo today and make same shit thread tomorrow
Eli Scott
>because competition is providing same/better services for lower/same prices
Weird, I can't find that definition anywhere, it's almost like you pulled it out of your ass and are presenting it as fact.
Yes, that's why I haven't and probably never will download their storefront. There's really only one game they've sniped that I want on day one and I'll just pirate it a couple days after release since I already paid for it.
Brayden Watson
>Competition is good if it benefits the consumer Consumers are only one part of the equation. This is a very selfish meme.
James Hughes
They employ paid shills, the launcher is chink spyware and they are genuinely a monopoly. Thankfully I can pirate their exclusives with no sense of guilt since they pay off the devs and they are literally made of money, so no one is hurt in any way whatsoever.
>competition is providing same/better services for lower/same prices, not throwing money at developers to include 'exclusivity' Gatekeeping the definition of competition, now THAT's epic!
Henry Ward
Yes, and? I was talking about the consumer in my post. Limiting the options of the common man is not what I'd say is a good development. The only nice thing about this would be that the extra money the publisher makes would go towards those who worked hard to make the product a reality, but I think the reality is that the extra is gonna just line corporate or shareholders' pockets.
Benjamin Sanchez
True, but for one of you that is drawn off from downloading it there will be another who will download it due to their tactics. Whereas previously, the majority of people would've given -7 fucks and the store would've inevitably died.
Ethan Smith
Why should I care about devs? Timmy gave them a better cut and money upfront. But they still persist with their quantum kikery.
Ayden Wright
>it's only a monopoly when it's not Steam Ew, Steamcels
Matthew Brown
They can't manage to add the most basic features in a remotely timely fashion.
Websites selling shoe laces and wolf piss have shopping carts. What's epic's issue?
Zachary Johnson
Most people defending epic are console gamers who think exclusives are a good thing.
Noah Lee
I'm not saying you have to care about devs, but you're making a blanket statement about what competition should be with only your own interest as the focus. It's very simple-minded.
Nicholas Martinez
>Steam made Mirco-transaction. Fuck off with your horse armor Todd.
The more money the devs earn, the more likely the game is profitable and the more likely they can continue making games. If it would've been already profitable on steam, earning a bigger cut means they can invest more money and time into their next product.
Caleb Evans
Epic is a monopoly. Steam is not. I know it's difficult to understand since you can count your brain cells on one hand, but that's simply fact.
Jayden Jenkins
False
Kevin Reed
It'd have a much easier job of not inevitably dying off if it actually developed its store front to a level that is acceptable in this day and age instead of just pissing off a lot of people by hilariously limiting their legal purchasing options.
Tyler Sullivan
Competition is good when it serves the consumer. With a more generous revenue split EGS could easily have undercut Steam prices and delivered a tangible benefit to gamers. But no amount of Tencent bankrolling has given us any benefit really.
>means they can invest more money and time into their next product. Sure, they could. Or they could give themselves fat raises, take multiple vacations, buy 9k dollar coffee machines for the Tea & Noms room and then crowdfund the game citing a lack of money.
I wasn't the guy you were responding to, but the fact is that no matter how much publishers make they will never be satisfied. It will never be enough no matter how much money Tim or anyone else gives them. They will never drop prices despite getting a better cut. Hell Tims super sale even took the $10 discount from their part and the publishers still got pissy.
Austin Nguyen
How many games have you bought on ebin store? Rebel galaxy, satisfactory and world war z look pretty fun.
Bentley Rodriguez
none of that applies to EGS, and if it does then it applies to Steam as well
Evan Collins
Or they could do what I said. I'm not saying developers won't do what you said, but without a bigger cut for the developers the first option wouldn't even be there.
Brody Jenkins
I really hope this is just a retarded zoomer fishing for (you)'s from other retards using somebody else copypasta, because if it isn't and you're changing images this is clearly a case of mental illness. Anyway, sage and 5.
Robert Cruz
True
Xavier Gomez
Bullshit and you know it. The devs won't see any of that money. It will either go to the select few so they can buy yachts made out of cocaine and ivory or marketing their next game.
Robert Martinez
Yes, but I'd argue that the consumer, at least in this case, is always the biggest group in numbers and the leverage they have against scummy business practices seems to diminish over time. People always say to vote with your wallet, but if a game is good and you'd gladly support the devs, the options you have is not to play and miss out on the game, pirate the game if it is even available that way and screw over the devs a little, wait a year so you can buy the game on the platform of your choice or buy it during exclusivity to get it on a lesser quality ecosystem and have your digital game library split to yet another launcher.
Caleb Price
what do you don't understand? >by defeating or establishing superiority over others epic didn't defeat anyone and neither is superior, therefore isn't part of the competition but wet shill's dreams
0. I've pirated a fair few though. All of them have been disappointing.
David Green
Splendid argument, Steamcel
Henry Taylor
>earning a bigger cut means they can invest more money and time into their next product. Or it just means getting a bigger cut. There is no guarantee what you, or Tim, are claiming will come to pass.
I'd say you are a strong believer in trickle down economics if you weren't a shill.

Ayden Stewart

Samuel Wood
Pirated metro and control. Definitely not worth full price. Was interested in hades since I like supergiant games, but apperently it isn't leaving early access before hitting steam so there's no point getting that either.
>Its opening up the o- No, fuck right off. If that option mattered in the first place, devs wouldnt need to be paid to become exclusive to egs, they would be doing so on their own
Christopher Hernandez
You can't please everyone. Maybe if epic didn't focus on fortnite so much and used some manpower to finish ut4 or make unrral 3/jazz jackrabbit 3 they wouldn't be so hated.
I'm making this game called Eisberg is an ass I approach Steam: Can I publish my game here, and also use my own webshop, resellers, Humble Bundle and GOG. Sure you can, our split 30% of your earnings, everything else it's yours Triad approaches me cause my game is on wishlist's top ten: We offer you this Fortnite money for exclusivity Tell them I would like to sell on any given platform We can't afford that cause Steam, GOG, whatever are a monopoly and we are not, I swear!
