I miss when regions made sense like this
now every region has to have lava zone, ice zone, desert zone, metropolis zone, ocean zone, forest zone, abandoned mine zone, etc.
No soul is put into the world design any more.

user, it's literally just Kyushu. Hoenn is based on a real place that has similar geographical features, including a volcano and a subtropical climate.

If you notice on the cycling road there's a gap to show water underneath. Cycling road is actually a raised road with space underneath for ships to sail through. The map art is just shit and puts rocks around everything.
