Ok edgelord
Claws are almost always my favorite weapon type in all games. It's hard for me to choose between swords and claws whenever claws are available.
Someone post the cooking gif/webm
Kek I instantly thought of Jack as well
thats what I never choose, I pick both. 1 character on a huge great sword, and I reroll a different character with claws. Its the best way
This weapon always seemed stupid to me. How are you supposed to prevent it from pivoting in your hands when hitting an ennemy with a top down slash movement for instance ? Unless there is a way to strap it to you forearm as well as hold the handle this is a retarded weapon
Thanks for reading my blog.
Looks sick in vidya though.
Carbine doesn't get enough love.
Claws are p cool
Weapons like these and katars IRL generally have 2 bars for gripping instead of just 1, to prevent the spin as you mentioned. It's just a fuckup or ignorance on the part of the guy who did this model.
CHOOSE YOU'RE KATAR.
God I want to play this game again.
melee runs are fun
It just wasn't a satisfying weapon to shoot, for me it's the plasma rifle.
Is there any games with a satisfying mace hit?
It has such great potential but most games go RPG style or with a generic stun reaction.
Lasers in general
Especially big lasers
>not the brute variant
A bird dipping its beak into water.
Thanks, asshole.
My buddy loves halo and im going to ruin his day with this
What is a game with fun claws. I want to feel like the edgy anti-hero in a 90s shounen anime.
Any time.
I like punching shit, so although claws are cool, i prefer a heavy gauntlet and a shield. Maces are good too.
>you’re
>’
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Flicking it out to length stealthy then battering someone round the head with it was the best, actually only good, part of Watch Dogs.
I would love for this to appear in other games not just it being the equivalent of a club though.
Ninja Gaiden series has the best claw weapons.
GOD I just want to smash a Saracen's helmet into his skull with a mace!
what games actually have claws? I never see 'em.
From a physics standpoint claws and swords with claw like blades are fucking retarded
The force behind a sword is relative to the contact area, you increase the contact area by increasing the number of parallel blades and you'll only make the impact of the sword weaker
It's different in nature because a cat's claws aren't parallel, and the fact that a cat has multiple claws aids them in other tasks such as climbing and holding things
Claws are perfectly functional as punching weapons, I don’t think anyone ever intended on them going head to head with swords, or using them on a battlefield against armored opponents.
Physics is important ill agree with you but there are so many factors that go into combat that basing everything around one factor is guaranteed to short change you somewhere else. The only way to truly find both good weapons and shit weapons is to war and duel and skirmish with every weapon imaginable on every stage imaginable with every skill level imaginable. In the end though, i would argue the only weapon worth anything is your hand and an object to propel to the enemy and an object to keep the enemy away. An empty hand can also take an opponents weapon and turn it on them, so theres that singular unique quirk to battling unarmed.
I don't care how realistic they are
Claws are cool as shit in games and that's all that matters to me
They never did and I think they were originally used to help in climbing things.
Those are a single example, and they were used very differently compared to blades protruding from the knuckle. The ones you mention would come out from the palm.
Flail chads will have their day some time right?
T blacksmith
Never ever, flails are horribly inefficient
Gonna post some weapon porn to bump the thread. Courtesy of the Yea Forums blacksmith
I mostly have bladed weapons by the way, sorry blunt bros
>that dude on the right just beating the shit out of his enemy with a mace
I wish the vr dueling project never dropped. Think it was called clang or something.
I love how they look. To my knowledge only Mount & Blade and Battle Brothers both have them and properly classified as polearms.
Appreciate the info
There are underated bladed weapons.
>Stop!
>OW! Cut it out srs!
>I said stop!
>I'm gonna tel mom!
I dont care so much about the writing on this one although it is significant, but look at that fucking pattern
He's has the drive, but not the aim. Managed to get the guy down to his knees in the 2nd half of the gif though.
I never see greataxes done right. It's always "very slow, hard-hitting that slams a lot" like it's just another variation of a hammer. I feel like Nioh does it best with the axe weapons, they had heavy swings but wide cutting arcs and high damage.
Reccommend me some fast-paced action games with good greataxes anons. And yes, I've played Monster Hunter, CB and SA are fucking kino.
Thats a big kukri
exanima added a flail in a recent update
Most games just have fancy brass knuckles with spikes, unfortunately. Claws are rare.
Axes like that generally suck though because inevitably one half of it will be used much less, and the weight makes having double edges less a boon and more a liability. Also dark souls has some decent axes. Aside from that i remember gimli from the LoTR ps2 games being fun if a little underpowered compared to legolas’ twin daggers of infinite doom
Fuck off Lenny
Have another trick weapon
I never liked LOTR though, even if I did play them a bit. I know axes with double blades are impractical, but it's a game. Do you really need realism?
This one goes out to the blunt bro’s
I would love to see a pickaxe version of this with the middle finger extended
i'm pretty sure that exists somewhere but not in the form you want
Not really, but giving up entirely on realism is how we end up with pizza cutter swords and other abominations. Also look at this glorious fucking thing
You didn't play Gimli enough, he was a literal lawnmower which was why he could never get decent exp since he would kill shit so fast you could never get a decent combo going.
I want to replay it now. Good times
I do agree that realism should here and there for a few sections, like having double-bladed axes be clearly heavier than a standard longsword, but eh. I just wanna have fun, but I do agree that we shouldn't give up on it.
Besides, the sword looks fucking beautiful.
That is the kind of best weapon godsblade you'd get in a Final Fantasy game.
Fuckin' gorgeous.
Swords with cool shit inscribed on them is my jam
And with that im just about out of RL weapon images. I could dump some videogame concept art weapons though but its up to you dudes
My fucking GS buddy, let's gooooo.
Jesus the Epitaph Sword was so good. Didn't exactly have high raw, sharp and it had more Dragon than it needed, but it was so fucking cool. Still to this day my most favorite GS is the fucking Halberd. Something about a giant greataxe inplace of a GS makes me appreciate GS like I just picked it up again.
His lower range on his melee kind works against him as a melee-focused guy though, compared to Aragorn where you parry counter, get the super mode instantly, then start mowing down crowds with his long ass sword, just mashing the light attack combo.
More games need to have these fancy but otherwise normal-shaped custom masterworks as their endgame selections instead of the usual parade of glowing spiky hellswords of doom.
As far as videogame swords go this guy here is my favorite
>weapon model contradicts the weapon class
That shit is my other (equally appreciated) jam. I adored the Nomura designed "long sword" in 4U so much for that
Axes in Greatsword
Scythes, pole-arms and european swords in Longsword/Tachi
Axes and clubs in Sword and Shield
Gauntlets and axes in Dual Blades
Axes in Hammer
Not sure what Hunting Horn could contradict with
Spears and polearms in Lance
Same with Gunlance
Greatswords, maces and hammers in Switch Axe
Don't remember what Charge Blade and Insect Glaive have.
God, why do weapons like this have either be shit (Halberd GS has piss poor sharpness) or not existing? I had so much fun using Wild Axe, Heavy Divider and Peco Slasher.
Heres another masterwork for you guys
Kid Icarus: Uprising had great claws.
This one is for you axe bro
Part of what makes it such a trawlable topic is that it largely comes down to a preference for styles
I fucking loved using that in Curse of Darkness. Was such a good starting axe too.
Yeah you're right...
Honestly, I'm more of a mage/rangerfag, so what gets my dick MAXIMUM HARD is characters who do blade summoning bullshit like Vergil.
I always thought this was pretty good despite being from WoW.
I fucking remember playing a game where the main character was like Vergil. I fucking forgot the name of it, but most of his charged attacks just threw out air-slices or made him charge while unsheathe attacking.
>Carbine
>not satisfying
Pick one.
Thats because those types of blades existed as well, though with less ridiculous handles.
>tfw you were the only one in your SK guild to use this weapon effectively
I coveted that wind, I suppose.
Im all out of masterworks now
>Blue blade
My fucking jam
>More games need to have these fancy but otherwise normal-shaped custom masterworks as their endgame selections instead of the usual parade of glowing spiky hellswords of doom.
Holy fucking this. Since i was just a boy, this was my main thought. Fuck games that go full retard with final tier or late game weapons, jesus christ dark cloud was the worst at this, specifically dark cloud 2 with the fucking surfboard as the ultimate “sword” pic related
That's a mask.
Diablo 2
Disgraceful, not only are they unwieldy as fuck but the user doesn’t even use them competently
Even Dark Souls has claws. They suck though, never use them.
I think Outward did it right. But Outward is also a janky game.
Essentially Axes are the only class of weapons where the heavy attack is a fast multihit combo. Everything else is slow.
NINJA GAIDEN BLACK ON PC FUCKING WHEN REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
ye the hand holding a spike
looks dope
>TABG
>Land in an area completely filled with people
>Panicking as a couple of them get guns
>Find a double-handed axe
>I FEEL THE WARP OVERTAKING ME.mp4
>Kill about 7 people in under a minute
name ONE game with good nunchaku combat
please
?
Rocket hammers
Piledrivers
Rocket-powered fists
PILEDRIVER FISTS
Anything that's got some kind of unnecessarily powerful booster to hit things harder
>Not really, but giving up entirely on realism is how we end up with pizza cutter swords and other abominations.
I know how you feel.
On the otherhand, I love me some Switch Axes.
you know swords don't spin around on an axis in the person's hand as they swing it right?
Kingdom Come.
Unironically.
Yes, the game sucks, and yes it's highly impractical, but this design is cool.
No it's not
When I was a dumb kid I thought it was literally a gunblade, as in, bullet comes out the end
In fact the whole gun portion of the sword is just plain useless outside of fantasy
>I thought it was literally a gunblade, as in, bullet comes out the end
It IS a gunblade. A bullet DOES come out at the end. One of his limit breaks does just that.
The gun portion is supposed to turn it into a vibroweapon, which is a fairly common thing in fiction. It's just a sword with an armor-piercing mode that looks rad as hell.
What you don't see is the gutter that runs along the back of the blade that guides the bullet
That's not true
Fool 12 year old me, sure, fool almost 30 me, fuck off
Dildo "sword" in saints row.
My fucking niggers.
Truth is stranger than fiction. It is also much more well-crafted.
Diablo 2 and Path of Exile
After playing game after game where the MCs weapon class is a sword or they're clearly favored with the most items available, I can't stand them anymore. I've become a weapon hipster of sorts and will probably choose the weirdest I can
Just choose spear, fag
I do if it's available, 2h of course, 1h +shield is for faggets
To be fair weapons in PoE aren't really unique playstyle wise.
Chivalry, but it's dead
No
What are they called/what are their purpose?
Butt scratchers
Not that user but the two on the left are Kris and were pretty much used like any other similar weapon.
I'm still mad that dark souls doesn't have these cuties.
>chivalry is dead
Like pottery.
Nah, they're still counted as axes in Battle Brothers. But they have the reach to be used like a polearm.
I fucking love them for their shield shattering ability from the backline.
No love for falx and sicass?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, 3 Nes
TIS A SHAME REALLY
I'm no chef but isn't it supposed to thoroughly cooked?
Pork and Chicken, yes
Correct. That's why proper claws are supposed to have a bit more to them where you also have them strapped to your forearm.
not nearly enough pile bunkers in games
should i buy mordhau or just keep playing for honor
i mean one ive been activley part of the community and the other i feel like it would have been the most fun at its release/when everyone was learning
that kind of works for both games desu
IG has staves, i remember one piece DLC in 4U where you have Nami's weather staff and a little cloud as your kinsect
A fellow battle brother, you are using the Legends mod, right?
Both have appeal for completely different reasons.
Drills.
I wish more games had them.
>what games actually have claws?
Ninja Gaiden
well i already play for honor so tell me why i should dump 1.2k hours into mordhau
i just want to know if its dead in oceanic or not
Not him, just watched a video of them all, did you mean the blasting zone one?
I don't think that's him shooting, he creates a bigass beam of energy then brings it down like a sword, he isn't actually shooting
Mordhau, 1-handed mace two shots everyone as long as you hit the body and you can get a skin to it that looks like
N-no? I haven't looked into mods, yet.
I see lots of people here with fantastic taste who appreciate a good flamberge. Stay classy, gents.
ToME has these giant fucking steam-powered sawblades that your strap to your arms like that pic and use to rip through enemies.
Doesn't look all that impressive in a simple tiles roguelike, though.
>Clone Drone in the Danger Zone
>Bow is great until the enemies can block arrows (i.e. all sword users past a point in the game)
>As in, unlike you when you have the upgrade, will literally be unable to take an arrow hit from any angle
>Plus shield enemies need precision hits to the spear arm or dangerous baiting to lower their guard for a split second
>Hammer is great for up close and personal
>But can't block arrows or enemy sword attacks
>Spear is mediocre without fire upgrade
>And also can't block until shield, which will disable the kick in favour of bash which only attacks forwards and uses energy
>Sword required for arrow blocking, sword blocking, fire upgrade makes it amazing, attacks way faster
Multiclassing is obviously the best option, but it still hurts a bit
That said, sword dueling is fun as hell in that game anyway
>Oceanic
No idea
The game is pretty varied in playstyles though, there's a guy on youtube I watch who has a couple of videos showing dumb things you can do like focusing entirely on trap-laying (beartraps, spikes that instakill if someone touches them etc.), catapults, literally shield-walling people by carrying two and sticking one in the ground etc.
I should start playing it honestly it looks fun
Katars.
Specially the slashing ones.
>flail
>"buying a sword" watermarked behind it
wut
fair enough
im probably gonna buy it
maybe sometime this week after work
but fuck trying to get into a game on a monday
They're best when linked to an actual unarmed/fist-fighting/martial-arts skill that also has your character animation using kicks, shoulder shoves, etc.
What games even have these?
Not enough.
Diablo 2 is the first that springs to mind, thanks to the sexy assassin.
Ragnarok Online's Assassins used them as well.
Soul Calibur
spears
this
honestly astounds me there arent more games with "martial arts" skill but it just gets a multiplier when using martial weapons
bo staff n claws n shit
actually that doesnt really make sense
maybe
idk
im drunk fuck me dead
i just want ninja gaiden back
is that too much to ask
i just want the fun
Funnily enough Diablo 2 is one of the few ARPGs I didn't play.
The big one's just a cleaver, basically.
Ragnarok Online is the only game I know that features them heavily. The Assassin class wears double slashing katars that he uses proficiantly.
Sadly, later katar designs are incredibly over the top and the original idea of the weapon is lost.
Kiros, from FFVIII, is another character who uses slashing katars to great effect.
EverQuest, Final Fantasy 8, one of the Summoner games I think.
FFXI Online's monk job is provided with katars for slashing damage and cesti for blunt.
Can't go back, fren. We can never go back.
bloodborne. pso. diablo 2-3
What does this have to do with fist weap- oh, oohhh.
I don't get it
Some Final Fantasy games have claws/knuckles based on them.
