None of these are good excuses to not pirate. If you didnt care about the game in the first place, why did you buy? Do not get me started on.
>HURR It's immoral! Because it is, the amount of men hours that people put into there games only to have pirate bros steal there product for a thousand hours of hard work, fuck the law thats enforced because you are better than greedy corporations and indie kickstarter devs. You simply can't justify buying games.
Instead of having stupid threads like this talking about whether or not you should pirate, can't we just have threads talking about the games themselves? In the end, it doesn't matter how you got the game, it only matters if the game is good and if you enjoyed it. For example, I was just playing a bit of modded Slay the Spire and it's really nice, they made a mod for Hollow Knight and it feels really good to play with it. (see how I didn't say if I bought or pirated the game? It's because that's irrelevant information).

I'm too much of a brainlet and I'm scared of virus, miners and all of that. I also have a big-as-fuck backlog.

I pirate all media. All artistic expression should be free of consumerism. Making art for money does nothing but dilute the art
But user you entered a thread specifically about pirating, not about pirating one game in general. Piracy is 100% relevant to this discussion. You should think a little before you post next time

If I want another game like the one I'm playing or another one from that studio I buy it, discounted obviously I ain't spending full price. Otherwise I pirate.

Art is made for money at least since the Middle Ages.

Should artists eat your admiration? Not everyone can live by huffing their own farts as you do.

this except i only pay for multiplayer-focused games last vidya i ever bought before deep rock galactic this week was Killing floor 2 in 2016

>being scared of ooga booga malware just rub the two brain cells you have together and you'll muster up enough iq to not get malware
Eli Green
Yeah common sense is not downloading pirated shit.

Its quite fucking simple actually. Time is a limited resource not money. If you don't feel like a video game is worth your money then why the fuck would you ever play it. We only have so much time on this planet so don't fucking waste it playing mediocre games you don't care about, or shitposting on an anonymous Vietnamese basket weaving forum. Go out and live your best life, spend time with your friends and family. Meet a nice girl. Get a productive hobby. Make something out of your life that you can actually be proud of and stop fucking wasting it away.
what about the idea that competition breeds creativity, driving artists to make better or more distinct work to stand out. imagine if people didn't push to be actually good at an art to make money and were just content with babbys first deviant art
VPNs don't 100% guarentee you not getting caught. And even then, they still cost money, thus defeating the whole purpose of piracy.
Jonathan Powell
I'm saying we shouldn't even be arguing about pirating anything ever. You don't see this kind of shit when talking about other stuff that everyone pirates like music or movies.
Anthony Gutierrez
>what about the idea that competition breeds creativity Creativity in the optimal and least risk averse way to make as much money as possible from your work
Ryan Perez
They do if you get a proper one. And a full years subscription to a VPN costs the same as a single game, hell not even.
Nolan Torres
yes i would like one non limited money please. you're acting like no game has ever been overpriced or people can't be poor enough to want a game but not afford it

Convenience really. Particularly when it comes to recent consoles, even with the especially unprotected ones like the Switch, pirating requires a fair number of hoops to go through, some of which people don't feel like bothering with. Much like paying for a cab when you don't want to bother driving your own car, eating at a restaurant when you don't want to bother cooking your own food, or hiring an accountant when you don't want to file your own taxes, buying a game is a valid course of action when you don't want to bother going through the steps to pirate it. Time itself is a commodity, which is why it and effort are used to obtain money. People who have an abundance of money but not of time may appreciate the convenience of purchasing games as a selling point rather than spend a lot of the commodity they have to save on the one they lack.

You're talking as if the incels on this board would understand anything about owning a car, eating out, or having a job.

The answer is socialism, of course. Piracy is socialism.

I Enjoy physical copies of games thar are single player so I will continue to support fun single player games because many of you will just pirate them anyway.
Honestly video games are the only hobby I spend money on so I might as well just support fun games.
Somebody has to buy the single player games otherwise they wouldn't be making them. I just don't play online games that much anymore I work 40 hours a week and so I like a nice game I can enjoy by myself to relax at my own pace.
>finally muster the courage to pirate a game >computers fans randomly go haywhire >screen flashes once in a while >CMD.EXE pops up for a split second sometimes
pirating is fun

>buy game >pirate it and play the superior pirated version i can play offline, don't need logins and launchers, has no intrusive DRM, can be backed up and wont be fucked up, made unplayable with forced updates, or lose compatibility with mods from said arbitrary updates. >if any of the above come to pass, skip step 1 for the devs next title if its even worth bothering with (maybe give a new chance if they switched publishers)
Its amazing: i have shelves full of old games, which i HAVE to pirate since the original copies don't work due to drm incompatibilites, login servers offline, having to download basicaly the entire game again for no reason after installation, having to make a new account on their recently introduced launcher. And its no longer a PC only issue. this was the sole bonus i chalked up to console games: you buy it you have it till you have the console as well. not anymore.
i'd rather mine for mother russia than contribute to googles portfolio about me and setting up a backdoor for them for future use in case they whatever im doing is undesirable for them.
