The christian imagery is mainly there to look cool yes, but it's not completely meaningless

The actual point of the show is good though. You can't wall yourself off and expect people to like you. And our own view of ourselves can in turn affect the way we think others view the world.

It's all pretty basic philosophy stuff, but it's still good.

ironically a lot of people who do this just started thinking they're special because "shinji is just like me!"

The philosophy goes a lot deeper into the whole design. There's the surface, obvious philosophy stuff, and then there's the final two orbs that 9S and A2 fight separately that are both named after two philosophers who had conflicted views on the true way for man to live; essentially being yin-yang to each other as where one saw a more hedonistic approach the other saw the release from worldly wants. This is also shown when the two orbs come together at the top to create the full gameplay symbolism that is the end of the android story.

And that's not even talking about the actual purposeful fourth wall breaking ludo narrative shit of the finale.
