I actually like this game and its fun to figure the mechancis but I'm stuck. I'm on year 2 and monkeys are only getting spawned on top of trees on branches and I can't do shit to get them on my side and I no longer have males on the clan.
Also when should I move on generations? I also read that you lose every neuron you don't lock and I can't decide what to keep

>start game, baby ape escapes big bird
>think the game starts after he's grown
>actually you were supposed to find the baby
guess my lil' nigga is long dead but I never found the body like you can find others

I'm unironically too much of a brainlet for this game.

Is it actually good? Will it be worth buying whenever it fucks off EGS?

Going back and forth regarding buying this game.
Should I? Bored out of my god damn mind, the premise seems cool but I'm worried there's too little unique content outside of HIT ROCK HIT STICK UNGA DUNGA
Also, I don't want to give Sweeney my money.

>Also when should I move on generations? I also read that you lose every neuron you don't lock and I can't decide what to keep
I guess move on when the number of neurons you have reaches the max you can lock in.

>Epic bad

Pirate it nigga

I am an upstanding, law-abiding citizen who does not engage in illicit activity.

This but unironically.

What if I bought it and just lent you my EGS copy

>game doesn't come with a with how to make fire tutorial
>fire can appear at random in the world map due to natural causes
>first person to randomly get fire gets an advantage over the others by a mile

thats some bullshit artificial difficulty

>Why isn't the game holding my hand
Absolute state of nu-Yea Forums.

It has rained a couple times in my game but I haven't heard or seen lightning yet. I wonder if that will be a big event like the meteor I missed during year 1 transition

Wait so if I can only lock in two I should have moved on? I have unlocked a fuck ton of neurons. So after the first time they are locked they no longer need to be right?

>Wait so if I can only lock in two I should have moved on?
You should make more babies to increase the locks. You lose everything not locked on a generation jump. You can get them back buy rebuying next generation. Once secured across one generation leap they are secured for all generations.

I see. Since I know what what leads to what I won't lose much, thanks user

this game is fun, only issue I have so far is that I have no fucking idea how to conquer my fear in unexplored zones so I can go further away from my camp

Same. I have figured that maybe I should go out with like 3 or 4 apes but I fear losing everyone to some fucking tiger or crocodile

don't be afraid, I can easily hunt them alone. It's just about figuring out the combat which is just a QTE

I usually bring 2 elders with my as glorified backpacks for extra spears and go out hunting with a spear and a basalt cutter to make the spears quicker

and if you run out of spears you can just use whatever to hit them with, any stick or rock picked off the ground will do

Also you can later get a gene that makes it so your clan member can actually defend themselves. I have a story about that and why I give a spear to every one of my clan members now

Can you attack by default? I don't know if my clan figured fighting with tools yet

Should you actually play this game with a controller like they say or is mouse and keyboard just as good?

>be ape
>just evolved for the first time
>it sends you in a new camp
>new camp is on ground level not on a cliff like the old one
>decide to explore the new region a bit
>find out that you aren't too far from the first camp but can't go back there because can't conquer fear
>decide to go on a quest for basalt because it makes the best cutter basalt chopped makes pointy stick in 3 hits, obsidian cutter in 6 and any normal rock in 15
>get attacked by a tiger
>already have pointy stick just in case
>successful counterattack
>tiger runs away
>decide to tempt fate and keep looking for basalt
>no basalt near me still
>tiger comes back
>pick up regular dead branch and hit him
>tiger runs away
>Decide to go back to base
>getting sleepy on my way to base
>go to sleep as soon as I get back
>get woken up in the middle of the night
>tiger I speared earlier followed me to camp
>proceeds to rape an elder ape
>proceeds to rape me
>new ape
>immediately get raped
>new ape
>run across water
>see tiger hunting more clan members
>make pointy stick with obsidian cutter I had lying at base
>spear his ass again
>he survives and run away
>make pointy sticks for my clan members
>had the time to make 2 before the tiger came back
>other clan member proceeds to spear his ass on first try and kills it

and that's why all my clan members gets a pointy stick now

it's default, just have a rock or a stick in your hand and when you get attacked during the QTE aim toward the beast and when it dings release space or A, whatever you're using

mouse and keyboard is fine but I do think it plays best with a controller

Does the combat get better because whoever thought that was a good idea is fucking retarded

>press intimidate and then hold A to stab or club them

this is just retarded for the sake of being retarded.

also, you don't get anything for hunting until one of your kids mutates the omnivore gene

Until then you can only really eat plants and slugs.
Any meat, fish or eggs will make you sick.

So it's the same way as dodging but you aim towards the thing, got it, i'll test it next time. Thanks
Yeah I figured about eggs trying to get rid of the bird that killed my 2nd ape by taking them

An evolutionary biologist/paleotologist was probably the lead designer.

And yeah did that npc ape kill the tiger because of the gene? You fucked up not giving them all sticky ends when the tiger started rampaging if they already had it

don't mess with the bird, that thing will one shot you, even panthers and tigers aren't that bad compared to the bird, leave the bird alone

also make sure you have something in hand, can't counterattack without something in hand

What does the end game look like, chasing boars around with stone spears and chilling by the fire at night?

You don't make fire. End game is cutscene showing modern humans. Either expansion or another game will let you play as a proper caveman.

I didn't know animals would track me down to camp, the first one was a safe haven, I figured this new camp would be too. And I thought that once you left their aggro range the predators would just leave you alone.

Now I live in a world where I have to grind out 8 spears all the time to arm my fellow apes.

Shit. Fucking bastard bird, thank fuck it didn't come after my ass again, I hadn't figured out dodging completely when I was stealing its nest. I wasn't even that far up looking for other apes when it killed my main guy

I didn't know this came out already. Tim is a swell guy for paying these developers to release the game early.

Here's a QoL cheat, immediate focus, no more hold to focus bullshit.

Why does the club suck ass as a weapon? Do Sabertooths and Hyenas have iron skulls? Because getting clubbed by a Chimp would break bone because I'm pretty sure they'd have full tard strength and not the pathetic 40% muscle usage we have.

Attached: 1566154924164.jpg (488x513, 48K)

if anything the boar should be highly resistant to blunt attacks, those faggots have skulls so thick it can deflect bullets

Because those animals have thick as fuck skulls.
And damage to internal organs > blunt force trauma
I'd say that a tiger taking 5 spears to the chest and still being on the offensive is a bit more dumbdumb grug

That's another thing that annoys me. You'd shove four or five spears into an animal turning them into a fucking porcupine and they still trudge along like nothing happened. You'd have to have pierced a lung or something from the way those spears are sticking out especially on the Sabertooth so it should be having physical difficulty breathing to the point it collapses with the option to finish it off.

I'm divided on this game.
It's a fucking amazing premise and the ooga booging around is fun.
But it feels incomplete or lacking, like little bits and bobs here and there to enhance the experience are missing.

If I'm remembering right, supposedly even at this point Human ancestors didn't quite have the tard strength of actual Chimpanzees, and they were closer to what we are now. So that might be why.

That or it's just poor game design.

i dont get the anti-epic argument
it seems like literal steam-corporate loyalists crying about having to buy from another corporation that isn't their favorite boot-lick flavour
like what the actual fuck

when you get into an unexplored zone and your ape starts freaking the fuck out, use your senses to look at familiar shit, fruit, rocks, whatever, when the little white ball is full on the lower left corner, look for it around the game world and follow it - be careful not to follow the blueish orb since that'll just fuck you in the ass.

Chimps aren't that much stronger than Humans.
They're only like 1.5x stronger, not this this 5x bullshit.
They have way better upper body than us thanks to muscle distribution which feeds into this whole big strong thing because they can swing their arms like motherfuckers but our legs and core are better developed because lmao walk 2 legs

I wish you could set up some automated tasks to tribe members. Like tell one ape to stockpile shit or another to go about making tools. And then I can go off exploring and discovering shit and come back with the busywork and supplies taken care of.

yeah, i dont get it either. its not like they are forcing you to own either steam or EGS.
i have both installed and nothing has changed.

people are just retarded.
i still ended up pirating this game though

Oh fuck off, I don't want to split my library. I like having all my games in one place. Tim can pay me money if he wants me to use his store, fuck publishers and devs.

I'm happy to use Origin and Uplay.
I'm not a fan of Epic because I think their whole paying people to be exclusive to be a fucking dog act.
