get a new hard drive you fucking idol

Intel quadcores micro-stutter so often a lot of people get used to it and think that's how things are supposed to be.

Desu I just bought a new samsung ssd 1 month ago. It was worth it but it hasnt managed to fix the issue

Is there any way to alleviate the issue?

depends on the game and/or your Control Panel settings.

since we're at it, maybe turn off your browser's hardware acceleration if you have tabs open while playing, so the GPU doesn't split resources

buy a new CPU

I have this happen on my 1080ti/32gb/i9 setup. I've never been able to find 1 global cause or fix. The most frequent way to minimize the problem is to rollback drivers to some from a few years ago.

It's important to recognize the difference in stutters. If audio and video stutter, it's your OS or CPU. If video stutters/freezes but music keeps playing, it's your GPU. Start troubleshooting from their. If you're lucky, it's your GPU. There's much less troubleshooting to do with just the GPU and fixes are usually already found (check Steam forums).

Thanks will try the driver roll back just in case. I'm pretty sure its a CPU problem at this point since I've tried replacing my RAM sticks, GPU, SSD and PSU. At this point only thing that is left is CPU, MOBO or some other weird shit I dont know about.

go for the nuclear option immediately and reinstall windows

don't. play system shock.

Do a thorough google search. And if audio/music continues during your freeze, chances are it's something easy like drivers, SSAA being too high, v-sync being on/off, Nvidia PhysX, or something.

Just today I was having issues with Yakuza 0 and I was only able to eliminate about 80% of the stuttering. It involved editing a configuration file to change the audio mode plus turning off SSAO completely. And still didn't fix it completely. But lowered the occurrence to every 3-4 minutes instead of 30 seconds. Just the weirdest shit, man. It should never happen with a good port.

It's the CPU. I have the same GFX as you, but an i7, and so far i haven't had a problem with any game. I play on 1080p at max settings.

it's windows 10

bitcoin miners
your cpu is bottlenecking your GPU
update win 10 and turn off all non essential services
dont overheat your pc
turn on your room AC

Just be urself!

Tried a dozzen of things and all the stuff that you anons mentioned. V-Sync does seem to help a bit but doesnt get rid of the problem completely which makes games still unplayable. Will try doing more digging through forums and such.

I would if I could play it without stuttering making me want to guage my eyes out when looking at the screen.

Thanks for the tips will double check and run a few antivirus software. Surprisingly you anons offered more help than all other computer forums combined.

Usually these posts are made out of snark anti-win10 sentiment, but this is legit problem with recent windows update. The Creator's update and the big update they did in May of this year. Especially the one in May. It's caused nearly every game I play to have a stutter. Some every 30 minutes, some every 30 seconds. It usually takes me 2 hours of finding the right work-around.

Also, if you browse the Steam forums, you see this happening mostly on top-end PCs which makes it all the more infuriating.

Gat Out of Hell was a lot of fun. That one took me like 4 hours and I ended up having to do a clean re-install of all Nvidia software - in Safe Mode. Then installing an old version. If you didn't do a complete system-wipe of all traces of Nvidia then disabled Windows Update from automatically updating drivers, Win10 would either find the existing 'newer' drivers and re-install them, or completely download and install them. And it still didn't fix the problem entirely, but at least made the game playable. Such a shitshow.

Just want to say that I'm on Windows 10, obsessively update on Patch Tuesdays & big feature releases and am always on the latest Nvidia drivers. I've been doing similar on at least 4 PCs over the last decade and a half and I have never run into issues that I can notice. Am I just lucky or are other people just retarded with their PCs?
