can you even consider it combat in retail? you click on an enemy and they die. its as effortless as right click on something in Diablo 3.

I've ran an experiment recently whewre I would level up with 3 people, and once they all log out I log in with a solo character and follow their trail.
The solo character is leveling way, way faster.

yeah other mmos actually give like 10% extra exp per party members so that the effective exp is actually better in a group rather than worse.

On the general WoW subreddit, that's filled with turbo-casual retail lifers who want their MOGS, MOUNTS AND CHEEVOS.

Except you kill stuff far faster in a group. That group has less downtime, and can handle quests that would be extremely difficult or impossible to solo.
I'm a Warrior levelling with a Paladin and having near zero downtime between pulls is a huge difference maker.

the group has MORE downtime because you need to wait for respawns for items longer.

Are they right about what? The game being slow? Yeah it is, but with that you actually get significance from leveling and optimizing your build so you can do things as quick as possible. The enemies are all very well balanced for difficulty so it's actually worth paying attention to what's going on and the world around instead of just running through everything for another level up that makes 0 difference.
