Is there any point to playing this when you absolutely suck ass at it? No matter how times I try to fight Lunastra or other EDs solo I just get wiped off the face of the earth immediately. I play IG, SA, and GL mostly, but try a little bit of everything too.

I really can't give advice without seeing footage of you play, but keep trying and you'll get it eventually. Are you playing really aggressively and getting hit a lot?

Think your character just phases out of reality when you get too close with the camera. Would probably need to fuck around with ledges to get anything good.

Finally got Velkhana solo, did it with GS and won with 15 seconds left on the clock.

Had a really clean first 2 areas, 3rd area was a bit messy and sleeping area was a clusterfuck, ice walls and ledges everywhere.

Final verdict: I'm torn. I like the music, some of the ice attacks and the aesthetics when velk's fully armoured. But the ice aoes, walls and ledges can fuck right off, and I don't actually get what the ice armour itself does, other than let it use the big fuckoff aoe?

god damn I want to like this game so badly but what the fuck. every monster takes 30 minutes to kill and it's glitching out whenever I try to place a trap. I placed a trap, then walked away and after 45 minutes in the same zone it won't let me place another. what the fuck

1. Don't hunt monsters you can't kill within 5 minutes on expeditions. Do an investigation where it's the target. It won't run off the map and you get better rewards that way.
2. You can't place 2 of the same trap down simultaneously. Destroy the trap if it's not useful anymore or place a different kind of trap.

the trap doesn't appear on the map though, like it disappeared. do they last indefinitely until triggered or destroyed?

You can't place two traps at the same time, you have can only have one on the map at a time so you have destroy the other one

It has decent defense but you'll have to grind zorah to get it, you could just grind kulu or jagras for decent gear because HR anajanath will gear check you when you have to fight in wildspire

Back in my newbie days, HR Anja in the desert was piss easy compared to LR Anja in the forest. Fuck the forest. Fucking terrible map. Fighting Narga there is making me reconsider getting Iceborne.

Charge Blade is pretty fun. I like the mobility of the s&s mode and the big dick axe swinging feels nice to land.

There is no need to be rude.

Don’t worry, when you get a bit better weapons you’ll be able to kill pretty much anything without it being able to escape. Monsters during expeditions stay in the locale for about 20 min as long as you engage them anyways, so it’s not really a tight limit.

It is very much not worth it unless you are going for a build with a weapon with blast and high affinity.

You are way better off getting Legiana armor, which gives you extra rewards from completing quests or Odogaron armor, which straight up raises your DPS sifnificantly with any weapon. I beat low rank with a mix of Paolumu and Legiana so you don’t really have to worry too much about that in low rank.

For end game you’ll want to get yourself elder dragon armor. Which elder dragon depends on the kind of set you are making, but generally it’s just the best armor in the game.

Protip: get a thunder weapon for nergigante it really helps since a lot of other monsters are weak to it too.

Also if your weapon of choice has a weapon that can be made out of Diablos, odds are that it’s the strongest weapon in raw power of its class.

A lot of ED's a have susceptibility to thunder (except kirin ofc)

Don't play element bullets if you are playing HBG. Look into good spread guns or get the legiana one for the fringe monsters pierce ammo is good on. Sticky ammo is great too but you will need to bring mats to combine them to use them all hunt but are still good supplemental ammo regardless.

I was already kind of leaning towards more spread than elementals. And how useful is cluster in the big boy leagues? Right now I use it to set off a sleep bomb attack and it works really well, as well as shelling the monster while its occupied/trapped.

Cluster is memey but currently is a retarded 4 man cheese strat. Getting pretty nerfed in iceborne but its deserved. If you want to play it non cheesy use it on big knockdowns it's still really good that way but don't use it in multiplayer with melee users or they won't be having fun.

Cluster is stupid fucking good if you can get monster in a set-up where you just stun and stagger it over and over until it dies, but it's getting nerfed in IB so I would go hard into making a cluster set at this point

Snipe is better now but both are getting unique mods in iceborne so we will have to see that play out. Heart can still be serviceable but you're more likely just using whatever you get based on the other gun stats anyways, no point in choosing a gun with the better special to have worse loading/recoil/reload capabilities.

Check out the compendium, the two most common weaknesses are thunder and dragon are the most common weaknesses, followed by ice. Conversely, the most important elemental resistance to have is fire.

When it comes to HBG, do as says. If you want to use elemental ranged weapons, use LBG or Bow instead. Bow if you like high risk, high reward medium range shooting gameplay. And LBG if you like long range fast paced shooting and support. If HBG is mostly used as a shotgun with spread, you should think of LBG as an assault rifle kind of weapon.

Other than that, Jho and Anjanath’s HBGs make for excellent spread guns, but I’m no HBG main though.

You've just got to throw yourself at the wall until you break through it, I'm not great either, It took me 3 days playing 6 hours a day to get my first AT Nerg kill at 47 minutes, on the 5th day I had that fight down to 15 minutes no carts 75% of the time.
Same shit with Velk, Took 7 hours for me to get my first win, after that I was taking it down nearly every time at around 13 minutes.

Keep trying, as a Hammer and IG main, Velk is really exploitable. His head is really easy to hit just about every single time it attacks. If you just learn the fight, you’ll find yourself knocking it over several consecutive times and having it limping right after the second area.

This user speaks the truth. About 5 days ago I got back into World to prepare for IB after platinuming the game and "retiring" in March of last year. It took me a good 3 days to get back into the groove and even step up my game, but I did it. I even changed up my playstyle a bit and now I'm twice as deadly. Do it user, practice makes perfection.

In Velkhana's piece in particular is composed mostly of brass and the piano severs to break up the bass section which catches a lot of people's ears when they hear it thus making it stand out

Yes, but only because the Nippon GS player we were with was a Clutch Claw master and forced Velkhana to headbutt walls several times. There's no reason to separate sprinting and the "special" button for attacks imo. They should've kept them the same and used R1 for kicking with your weapon sheathed or sliding with your weapon out.

Slopes would never be a problem if you have a choice if rather you wanted to do a slop attack or not
