How hard is it to make hair look like this?

as hard as my fucking dick currently

Very hard. Hair is one of the most difficult things to model and implement the right physics.

no one wants to read about your penis, mate..

Chew bubblegum every single day for 20 hours a day (leaving yourself 4 hours to sleep)
Purposely break your jaw
Make some kind of head brace that forces the jaw to go forward kinda like teeth braces but for the entire head
uhhhh
Suck 100 dicks a day
Get a huge truck and a metal wire and tie your chin to the truck and get your friend to floor it
Take up boxing and get your sparring partner to punch the fuck out of your nose and forhead so everything goes backwards and aligns with the chin

So many things out there if you're creative

hard as fuck, it's either a bunch of layers or an actual 3D model with excellent textures
someone posted the model of one of the girls' hair in Blue Reflection and it was a 3D model with a shitload of tris, but Gust hair is super pretty

very hard desu

The perfect female imoho

Strand rendering and dynamics in real time is expensive as fuck which is most modern games still make bald dudes.

I love nu Lara

too bad her games are awful

Ignoring your opinion on the look of the character, is this good hair (on a technical level)?

No.
I generally HATE how RE-Engine does hair and transperency. It's all literal 1-bit dithering, masked with obligatory Temporal AA, also known as "grandma's old glasses filter".

But that hair doesn't look like normal pixellated dithered RE engine hair, which is why I noticed it. And hair looked 10 times worse in RE7 than it did in RE2R and DMC5, so maybe they are just improving the tech by a lot each game

Probably not that hard since there's tons of skyrim hair mods that look like it.

do those mods have bouncy hair physics that make them seem like real hair in motion, though?

There's one with physics for Skyrim and FO4 also has hair physics that various hair mods use, but the engine is so shit it doesn't seem real.

You know you do. Don't lie to yourself.

i would like an game re style when she go on expedition with a team and things go wrong . no open worlds this dont work just an open emi big locations and give her a proper wardrobe like the expedition uniform or something give her reading glasses . give this game riddles to solve on your own and not get this get that some mini games representing her mind thinking don't make her a detective but an archeologist with athletic skills starts the game with some lara free time when she actually trains . She is te perfect character for video game but now we get a generic open world with rpg elements that don't work for her she is already smart and she dont need to get new skills through out the game she could get new equipment . lose the hunting to minimum like bose fights or some things and add exploration and finding stuffs ad museum mission where she connecting the dots of the stuff she is searching or form where something is from give her a younger sidekick that will do if research when she is on expedition . don't make another mary sue that can do everything on her own even ethan had a sidekick/chick i don't want another batman in the jungle i want an athletic archaeologist on an expeditions that lead to some great conclusion / discovery let the 1 game have impact to another like she would almost drown in 1 game and in 2 she would try to improve her swimming abilities is not that hard
SRY LONG POST

How hard is it to let her use dual pistols for fucks sake? God I fucking hate nuLara except for when she's fucking dogs in porn

I think that Ubisoft makes the most hit or miss hair of any studio.

It is not hard it is just task intensive. But I believe some companies are getting around it with some tricks. Capcom RE Engine shows that very well in Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5.

Closest youre going to get. Its like making a wig, but instead of with your hands, a mouse and keyboard. Might as well use chopsticks.

...

Yes. Do you have eyes?

I remember something about there being a technique in making hair that most of the Japs use for whatever reason but I don't remember much else of it aside from that.

This is by using basic tools, there are tons of add-ons that let you transform a 3d model into hair, make it grow, curl etc. Then make it go back as a model with proper strands and you apply the hair texture with alpha transparency.

I think it looks quite good in motion. You can fix the temporal AA by disabling all AA and using downsampling instead. But yeah the dithering is shit, I don't know why Japanese devs love dithering so much
