The thread is about games that only you remember, not "what was played back in the day". I'm sure that zoomers don't even know this game existed.

The David Bowie game

why dont you just suck on my big fat nuts bro

And you thought Super Noah's Ark 3D was bad enough...

>seething for free
I miss the days when I actually had to try when triggering faggots. But with the utter retards that dwell on this place today, effort isn't necessary

youre the one writing novels at me

My dad loved to play this, with cheats of course.

Attached: projectoverkill.jpg (800x819, 68K)

those were good shit, i dont' recall what gunman was about but i appreciated the weaponry

I still have Gunman on a disc somewhere.
Good shit. Space confederates should be a thing more often.

a.k.a. Battlefield Zero, DICE's first game

Attached: codenameeaglecover.jpg (800x1027, 159K)

Shitty game, but it was the first game I played that let me use a lightsaber, so played the shit out of it

Attached: starwarsmotk.jpg (319x312, 23K)

Attached: goldeneyerogueagent.jpg (538x680, 84K)

I played the shit out of those games.

>gunman
Space-T-Rexes, space cowboys and that intro mission where you're on the space ship and then shit explodes and everybody gets sucked out into space.

God I loved gunman. Also, that fucking machine gun with the spinning twin barrelwas awesome.

>G-Police
I don't know if I played more than 3 mission NOT cheating the fuck out of that game.

Bombarding everything with 1000lb nukes or using those green hyper fast laser missiles was awesome though.

The sequel was shit.

Omikron the nomad soul is on steam, but it's super buggy. There's a community guide about that somewhere though.

That's explains why I couldn't play when I brought it. I've also heard about a remastering project. A dude released some videos. He was porting it to another engine and made new animations and models, but I think the project is dead.

Attached: interstate76.png (420x489, 391K)

Sorry, i played this twice. I still remember everyone being super pissed off it wasnt another actual goldeneye game when they announced it.
Game was decent though, the x-ray vision was kinda game breaking.

This game was hype when I was playing it as a kid, too bad it stopped working and I couldn't have played it anymore :(

Attached: 220px-Battle_Engine_Aquila.jpg (220x310, 31K)

First game was better.

Attached: 300px-AIM_Cover.jpg (300x428, 33K)

Is there a way to make Gunman work on modern computers?

Never played it, I had the 2 pack but the first refused to run on my PC and I was like 6 years old and had no idea on how to make it work.

good shit
>yfw they referenced that on Solo

I really wanna emulate and replay it

Attached: WinBack.jpg (256x321, 29K)

And that's only the SECOND most obscure Fallout

Attached: fallouttactics.jpg (630x754, 67K)

This game was better than supernoah's ark though. Its biggest flaw was a technical issue and that was how playing at high framerates meant everything happened too fast.

This game runs well in pretty much any emulator

Is the PS2 version a straight upgrade over N64 or are they different?

Did you know that the STALKER franchise is much older than you think? The first game was released in 1994.

Attached: stalker.png (1280x799, 210K)

Attached: renegadex.png (600x397, 104K)

I really liked the soundtrack, but otherwise a pretty mediocre game

youtube.com/watch?v=1P4Hl9uJmp4

I had the demo for this game user and I thought it was fun as fuck. It felt like I was in a C&C map but got to blow everyone up

Attached: tigershark.jpg (600x600, 101K)

Better graphics, performance and controls, PS2 version is your best choice

Do they have to be old? I feel like this 2 year old game didn't get the attention it deserved, and the dev had to shut down recently. But damn if it didn't have some amazing potential.

You can get gunman chronicles on moddb, if you own half life then throw it in your source mods folder and restart steam.

Only the single player interested me and the Black Dawn campaign is so short...

Gunman was so fucking good.
Is there anyway to get a hold of it online? None of the torrents I've tried have worked, and I can't find anywhere to purchase it.

Xash3D

Very early on the PS1's lifetime, around 1995-96, before it established itself as a jrpg machine, devs were all about pushing the console's 3D capabilities the most as possible. During this time, a lot of weird futuristic first person shooters with polygonal graphics were made for it (mind that this is before Quake). Few people remember about these games today.

Attached: kileak.jpg (420x360, 111K)

This and a game called BHunter blew my mind as a kid.

Cool, will check it out

This game got a lot of flak for turning what was a purely historical franchise into fantasy, didn't it?

most likely yes, even though most reviews for it were on the positive side. now the only thing i hope for is that they make an extended edition of it like they did with rise of nations and add all the cut content and the cancelled expansion.

I bought this game after getting burnt out on Diablo 2, since it said it was a "Diablo Killer" on the box and the art style looked good. It was pretty fun.

Attached: 220px-Prince_of_Qin_Coverart.png (220x312, 125K)

This game made a huge impression on me as a kid but I very rarely find anyone who's played it. It's still one of my favorite PS1 games.

Attached: 31194_SilentBomber_Boxart_Pal.jpg (992x977, 747K)

>franchise
there was precisely one Rise of Nations game, not enough for anyone to give a flak about the devs taking their gameplay formula from history to fantasy.
All I remember about Legends is that it ran like dogshit, so I only played it once, despite loving RoN and still playing that once in a while

Wrath Unleashed, a turn-based strategy fighting game. They don't make games like this anymore.
Have it on Gamecube, it needed two discs (one for singleplayer, one for multiplayer). Story felt like someone's bad fanfiction following a stupid OC.
Played the shit out of Rise of Nations, but I never even heard of this.

That and the old aviator cap make me really want to try this game. It'll probably be disappointing but there's that small chance it's a gem.

Yet you're still using retarded reddit-tier words like 'zoomer', how mature

i'm old

Attached: file.png (285x342, 192K)

I saw it on shelves but i never endes uo playing it. This one and a game with a tiger holding a sword fighting a gorrilla.

It's a weird Half-Life total conversion turned retail release with some pretty neat gun customization, for example you an adjust the number shells a shotgun fires 1,2,3 or 4 at a time, and the range of the shotgun from riot to scatter to slug. There's a chemical thrower where you balance different amount of chemicals for different attack properties. It's not a masterpiece but it's easy to get for free, not difficult to get running if you know how to google, and very novel to play.

Stalker 1: Path of Fire

I watched a guy review these and other games from that studio. youtu.be/CGQd4l57u6A

Avgn started in 06. Go back to your fortnite stream the adults are talking

I have this somewhere on a disc with the first Hitman game

It's just a word used to define what the likes of you are. Nothing more.

Attached: HEDZ.jpg (800x1016, 256K)

There is an obvious negative connotation to it though.

>the zoomer thinks 2006 is "old"

It's like NFS Underground but shit

I have yet to meet anyone in real life who has actually llayed this game. You forget jist how niche Yea Forums is as a whole. It may seem like your entire world but in reality it is just a small corner of the internet.

my brother-in-law played the shit out of this one

Perhaps I grew up in a weird neighborhood then, it was well-known at my school. Thought it had good sales too.

Amen.

Z-z-zoomer. Stay mad. Die mad.

Have fun user, I only played it for the first time earlier this year and had a good time fwiw, no nostalgia on my part

Whatever you say, zoomer.

Now back on topic, this game is BASED. No matter how many years pass, Mortyr will still be here to be one of the worst games ever made.

Kino

Dilate

Who would ever buy this shit? Who would look at that cover and say "yes, this is totally what I would enjoy playing"

Had good times playing this game with my bro when we were kids. They never make unique games like this anymore.

Such a weird game. Basically a beat for beat half life retelling, but civil war soldiers in space with dinosaurs instead of aliens.

People with taste, zoomer.

A wasted opportunity, desu.
The fights and general mechanics in this game were top notch, I loved beating people up with my fists and throwing them out of windows. The shooting also was good.
Sadly, the car variation and mission variation leave a lot to be desired.

I wish I could find it for PC.

One of the latest Build engine games. A Duke3d Vietnam war reskin. Terrible level design and extremely frustrating. The "Vietnam experience" is a little too much realistic, expect to be ambushed and killed in one second by a VC hiding behind a tree hundreds of times. And then there's the impossible to see mines and booby traps, the random artillery strikes and airstrikes and gas attacks out of nowhere, and the enemy tanks.

Attached: nam.jpg (1920x1080, 465K)

Attached: xbox_yager-110214.jpg (300x300, 24K)

And this is the last Build game before Ion Fury. Made by the same developer as Nam, but a bit better, mostly because of the setting not being as frustrating (Germans on European landscapes are much easier to deal with than Vietcong guerrillas in the jungle). Had some pretty advanced features, like radio communication to order artillery strikes and call reinforcements, and controlling squads, but still, in the year it was released, it was grossly outdated, Medal of Honor was making the headlines.

Never seen anyone talk about Siege of Avalon on here. I played the first episode from some disc I had way back at the time; one of the earliest attempts at doing "episodic" games I can think of that I experienced. From what I remember it did some pretty neat things roleplaying-wise.

Attached: siege-of-avalon_8.jpg (800x600, 80K)

I played it. I specifically remember it because of the purple box art, and I feel like the desktop icon was the same. Always makes me think of Ultima Online: 2nd Age.

I feel like people don't even know there was an X game after 7

Attached: 59399-mega-man-x8-playstation-2-media.jpg (800x797, 143K)

Giants feels like some kind of fever dream. I can barely remember what it was like.

Why is that not on steam? I couldn't play it back then because my machine wasn't strong enough.

People also tend to lump it in with the bad games that came before it, and that's unfortunate. I bet most people skipped on it after how bad 6 and 7 were, and just assumed it was the same bucket.

Nice, I remember it from a friend who had problems beating a knight who was tanking in full plate. But then my friend dropped his armour and attacked multiple times faster than him and completely annihilated him. Too hilarious.
And yeah, that is also the oldest memory which tried to sell a story episodically.

Had a play through a month ago. Good game but the lighting is fucked up now.

I played it once on a demo disk when I was 10 and it took me years to find an actual copy of it. It's actually a really interesting game where your choice of weapons and tank matters.

I played the hell out of that game. Loved the idea that at least ONE chapter of the BoS got its shit together and went about rebuilding the USA instead of being retards in one way or another.

Does anyone knows an really old game(same age as Commandos, probably), where you entered into a cemitery and had to kill gargoyles and other monsters? I played a demo when I was a little kid. There was also a 3D fighing game(very low poly), that you fight on the top of some building, pretty similar to Vritua Fighter(if it isnt).

>where you entered into a cemitery and had to kill gargoyles and other monsters?
Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor?

That first one wasn't Blood was it? That's what comes to mind first, but I'm pretty sure you'd recognize it if it was.

Blood came to mind too. It seemed to be really popular for a while back then.

it was third person and 3D. The sky was complete dark. I don't recall it having guns.

Nightmare Creatures?

First one sounds like Nightmare Creatures. Second one is a complete guess but Star Gladiator?

Second one sounds like Battle Arena Toshinden

This one

Attached: 247587.jpg (800x1009, 129K)

I remember it being pretty fun, but it was really buggy.

Attached: yager.jpg (620x866, 96K)

>Nightmare Creatures
Holy shit! It IS the one! Thanks a lot! Im not sure about the second one tho. Btw, if someone also remembers a game, 3D and third person, where you could play with 3 characters with different set of weapons and skills, inside some sort of castle. I recall one of them being very muscular and pale. There was a woman too. It had something with..Dark or Revenge on the name.

I own that game

My uncle actually worked on that game.

Probably should replay it. Also RIP Adventure Company.

Can you at least remember the system or any other detail about the game?

I finally played this for the first time weeks ago. I don't want to knock an almost 2 decade old mod, but damn, this shit was a snoozefest. Didn't help the second level is literally a brown-rust shit color map after being in the first level jungle

Nevermind. It is Dark Vengeance.

This was my childhood rts game, I borrowed it from a friend when I was 7. One of the best rts games I've ever played for sure, completely underrated gem imo

Holy shit I haven't thought about this game in nearly two decades

it's on torrents. runs badly on modern hardware though.

>OH NO YOU DIDN'T

Man its sad seeing Double A games not be as big as it used to. It feels like most games these days especially on the playstation is trying to be big narrative story games when back in the day it was just about fun.

youtube anthem and disaster and pick the video length you desire. unironically that simple, was such a high profile shitshow and all gaming youtubers pounced on it.

unironically an underappreciated gem

I enjoyed it

A true gentleman of taste
Too bad A.I.M. 2 clan wars constantly crashes, it could have been one of the best games ever made

>Unlockable Navigator versions of the hunters

>Axl plays more akin to Bass and gets a different niche from X

Say what you will about it and the level gimmicks, but it had care put into it.

I've been playing the Dreamcast version recently.

Gunman was so badass, the weapon customability was on another level. Almost as good as Half-Life itself, albeit much shorter

Activated the key on steam a few years ago and got the hl1 complete pack

i remember just hugging the wall on 2 and still winning

If that one asshole didnt make a review of it last year I'd be literally the only one

Attached: Cover.jpg (353x500, 52K)

I always see this game in my steam recommended after I've been scrolling for 10 years

the only thing I remember of this was the absolute piece of shit "reputation" system
>race a fuckton to raise your rep
>buy a new car
>before you can mod it and take it for a ride some faggot calls you and challenges you to bet the car on a race
>if you decline your rep takes a masive hit
>probably gonna loose your new ride
might be a bit wrong on the details but I assure you Juiced was a really crappy NFSU clone

story and art design were very good, too bad everyone was complaining about it to realize

Is it really that good?

It's a pretty meh game. Typical late PS2 fare.

This game is a mediocre Resident Evil 4 clone, when that was the trend.

Nigga, no one ever talks about Dungeon Keeper. Not to mention that RTS games are dead.

>Nigga, no one ever talks about Dungeon Keeper.
What's there to talk about? DK1 is great, DK2 has improved mechanically and got a bit worse aesthetically and in terms of creature variety, WftO is good but not as good as it ought to be.

>Not to mention that RTS games are dead.
How do you talk about games in a dead genre, then? "Oh, guys, remember that time?" I can just go play the games instead, the disks are like 30 centimetres to the left from me.
Also I was in a brief conversation about TBP a week or two ago. user didn't know one transporter truck is not enough to fully saturate adjacent mine+refinery/transport base as ED.

I still regret not buying up the CD of this I saw on ebay several years ago, it was the full game and I don't think I've ever seen it available anywhere. Even if the game isn't the greatest, I'd still like to try out the rest of it.

Absolutely no one else but me played this. I remember trying to look up FAQs back in 2002 and no one had anything.

It came with a CD with a bunch of other "ripped" games (Nox, Age2, Starcraft, some Bejeweled-like game called The Alchemist...) by those old scene groups (Razon 1911, Paradigm, Class). The most memorable mechanic was that one could choose if you built things cheaper or faster.

It even had branching paths. My only complaint is it has such great music, but the music restarts every time you change companions, so you hear the first 30 seconds of each of the songs over and over again, despite them being actually fairly long.

I remember playing the shit out of the beta but, never got the actual game. I think the devs kept changing stuff for the worse and made the MP matches less fun.

Based, Tail Concerto and Solatorobo are both amazing. I can't wait for Fuga.

I'm still waiting for someone to upload State of War 2: Arcon in english, I can't find that shit anywhere.

I still remember laugh my ass off on the scene were the chick was talking and the old guy was like in the lower corner of the screen just staring at her tits while she gave an inspiring speech. During the speech his hand was slowing reaching up to touch them.

The actual development team didn't know what the game was actually going to be about until the big E3 reveal for it. This was like 6 months before release.

I've looked for this game so many times, is it as amazing as I remember? The troop/solo gameplay was fantastic, wished Dynasty Warriors would've stolen from it.

Pick Unreal Tournament, and make it a melee combat focused third person game, and you get this.

It's not related at all creator wise or legally, they're just both based on the same source material, A Roadside Picnic.

Both.

I'm pretty sure it was well known when it was released. I remembering ordering this of a guy who had bootleg games but he gave me Sheep dog N wolf instead (which was alright).

My dad got this for me at a used book store. It turned out to be my favorite obscure game. I love my dad.

Was widely played.

God damn it I loved this game

That's like saying A Fistful of Dollars is based on Hammett's Red Harvest. In a roundabout way, it is, but the different STALKER games both have Tarkovsky's work as a layer of translation after Strugatsky.

I played both of them as a kid. I still have them actually. Beside the childhood memories, I have to say that these games are rather mediocre rtss with some cool ideas throw here and there.
Just like pic related Ancient Conquest, another cool but medicore rts.
btw Aztec Empire is called Aztec Wars in US.

I am playing it right now. I like it, but random crits that can one hit kill you can fuck off.

Another killer game

As a 7 year old - I played this for fucking hours on end, just wandering around the open world. One of the first games I had on my PC.

nexuiz for sure

Attached: nexuiz-classic.jpg (800x600, 116K)

Not that obscure, however I've literally never seen it mentioned here or anywhere else.

Attached: Rise_of_Nations_Rise_of_Legends[1].jpg (640x891, 86K)

Ok never mind.

Even today people rather often talk about Vampires and Arcanum, but the third Troika game seems to never get such cult classic status.

Attached: The_Temple_of_Elemental_Evil_Coverart.png (256x358, 168K)

Whenever I see people talk about it they say it's a much better implementation of D&D mechanics than the Infinity Engine games. I've played it a little but but only for 20 minutes or so because I remember having problems with it on my old PC. I do want to properly play through all of it someday, it seems really cool

One of the first non DOS games I played. It was fun in MP

I wonder why.

Attached: ADnD_ToEE_review.png (1307x286, 115K)

The best Fallout game after 2. I wish they make Tactics-style game in the future (like Wasteland 2) instead of something like Obsidian's New Vegas 2 or anything Bethesda will do.

why xonotic? classic is better

Pretty cool survival horror.

I've never played tactics since I got put off by the squad based stuff.
Is it actually good ?
I love 1&2.

I think I bought this for like €1 on a market years ago.

See if it emulates on the PS2.
A lot of older games from that era just don't run very well on modern pc's and actually run better on emulators.
You can even upscale it and make it look like a more modern game.

Everyone always talks about the first one but never the second.

I remember seeing a trailer for this back when magazines shipped with demo discs full of trailers.
I think it got re-released for the pc not too long ago.
Is it worth a play ? I kind of liked the look of it back then.
Also the girl is kind of cute.

You're not. If I remember correctly, couldn't you play multiplayer as skele? Also, post screenshots.

This game was fucking amazing, I played it for so long.

Finished it before it was released in the west. I think there was a fan translation or something.
I think I might've liked it better than Recettear even.

This game was great, I miss good fantasy rts games.
Normally when they go the fantasy route it's always elves and other generic tolkien stuff.
This at least had the balls to try something different and I will always love it just for that.

I loved the Marilyn Manson song in this one.

Yea I remember that. You could also play as a little Dwarf.
I used to have it on my old PC and it was pretty fun. But the game is far from futureproof. Windows 7 struggles to run it. Winjews 10 doesn't even play it and the UI looks tiny on 4k screens.

You can get it from GOG or just pirate it of course. I am not in position to say if this game implements D&D rules better than the Infinity Engine games. The turn based combat system for sure make it resemble more the tabletop, tho it make some fights waste a bit too much time. The game for sure feel like tabletop session, especial in term of story (which might be oblivious since it's an adaptation of printed adventure) and it might be a good or a bad thing.

>Not him but I enjoyed it, it is just purely combat though so don't go in expecting 1 & 2. Or a game that really follows the lore

Yeah, me too. I can get pass the characters creation phase. Can't even begin to think how to make a properly optimization of my party. What worse is that I have never played any dnd game. I could just pick the pre-made characters, but it seems to me like a lamer option.

>It's a high pitched sound
>Hot rubber eternally pressing against a blackened pavement
>A wheel is forever
>A car is infinity times four

Is this that game where you play as a deer hunting rednecks in a trailer park?

It was super-mediocre. just like FEAR lmao

Most spoopy game I've ever played.
And that ending music!

Fuuuuck..
There was that game, kinda Resident Evil-esque, it was a formula of a TV-show in haunted house with demons and other hellish stuff.
Anyone?

What era?

Probably The Devil Inside

The game was notoriously poorly optimized, runs like shit even on the most modern hardware

Literally one of my first PS1 games.

A bit repetitive but otherwise solid game

Came here to post this. Absolutely based.
>4 factions with unique weapons
>weird magic lads with fucking flying magic lamps and carpets
>decent campaign for an arena shooter
>comfy maps
>nice fantasy aesthetics without any tolkienshit
>FUCKING MAGIC AYYYLMAOS INVADE AAAAA
Extremely underrated game.

fun fact. If you put the gunman chronicles key into steam, you get the valve classic pack added to your account.

By the same team that did Arkham games

Anyone here played Unreal 2?

I really loved some aspects of it like having your own ship as a mission hub. Wish they expanded on that idea. The environments were also pretty kino

It's so fucked that this game was completely buried in my memory never to surface until this thread. I used to play it every single weekend at my grandparents' on their PC. Makes me wonder how many other games I've spent insane amounts of time on that I just don't remember.

>Anyone here played Unreal 2?
Uh, yeah, dude.

YES!

Not that dude but holy shit, totally forgot this game existed. I remember all the previews in magazines at the time being super horny over the succubus

Whatever happen to the burnout series?

TIMMYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

I like the twist in the killer robots trope. Series 9, one of the playable factions, were just an agricultural robots until the nukes went off and completely destroyed all their crops. Now they want a revenge on humans for making their existence pointless.

All I remember about Unreal 2 was the graphics were pretty impressive for its time but the gameplay was so fucking bland nobody gave a shit.

I only every played the first-level demo that came with a games mag, but the game has always stuck with me

>still have physical big game box of old
good times

Unreal 2 is basically non-shitty Mass Effect

>You forget just how niche Yea Forums is as a whole.
No, Yea Forums ain't niche no more. it's mainstream as fuck. Literally everyone around corner of the internet is here shitposting and waging their political war.

2008-2012 Combat arms. Fuck I miss it.

You are now hearing Ymir theme on repeat.

>Anyone here played Unreal 2?

Yeah, but like the other user said it it was pretty forgettable, it just didn't compare to the original in terms of wow-factor, because U1 was fucking mindblowing back then.
It's a shame because Half-life kinda stole a lot of Unreals thunder

Thanks for nostalgia.

Imagine for a second the shitstorm this game would cause if it was released today.
also I’M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU MASON!

Hey, you're right! I am!

>Imagine for a second the shitstorm this game would cause if it was released today.
I think it would do great actually.
Be riot police at antifa protests.
Beat the shit out of sjws, fatties, hipsters and soiboys.
Maybe add some BLM protests as well (not sure how relevant that still is in burgerland).
Add some modding options and it would be a cult classic instantly at least on /pol/.

One of the first games I played and for sure the first turn base game. Most likely never came out in US.

Ah man I have a physical copy. Never could get into it.

Stfu about that curse

The multiplayer for this game was amazing, incredibly underrated.

Amazing PS2 shooter nobody knows about.

Attached: Cold_Winter_PS2.jpg (359x520, 169K)

Fucking what
What could such a game even entail?

So fucking hard to find online thanks to its name

The cutscenes still haunt me.

Attached: 86349-shockwave-assault-windows-front-cover.jpg (800x982, 120K)

The good news is there's no reason to find it online. It's a dud. It's a 2 hour FMV game that is probably one of worst FMV games ever made. I have no idea why people make out like it's brilliant. It's genuinely fucking awful.

God I fucking love this game. The psp remake aint half bad either

Fuck yes, I loved this game! I still have the CD.

The poison ran deep

It's just a remake

Anyone?
I tried to replay it some time ago, but it doesn't seem to work on modern systems. The menu is fine, but character creator and everything after is fucked.

Look man, I have a collection to collect for.

Fun-fact: Gunman Chronicles CD-Keys can be used to activate Half-Life on steam.

X-Com-like base-building mechanics with Fallout Tactics mission structure and combat, with some RPG elements from Fallout 1/2... A man can dream.

Attached: brendan.jpg (540x720, 178K)

Ended on a fucking cliffhanger with no sequel ever.

So who did design it, then?

The mythical creatures feeding on junk, commonly known as Germans.
