what video game would you recommend to a person who has never played any video game before?
What video game would you recommend to a person who has never played any video game before?

Don’t bother asking that here OP, this board is full of contrarian, brain dead teenagers who will either give you le funny meme answer XD or some niche anime shit.
Mario Oddysey
Something similar to what they already like, like horror then a horror game, like action then an action game. and so on.
cod 4
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
It's a great introduction to 3D games.
Unironically start with SNES and play all its classics
I'm glad you're truly answering the threads question then, oh wait...

Rythm game. Pretty much any one.

The Legend of Zelda and what said.

Its low stress, and easy to learn.

I would tell them "you're lucky" and just say to keep doing whatever they're doing.
I'd say 2D games. Though it all depends. I recommended my boomer dad to try out Chrono Trigger and after a week he told me he got lost in the church dungeon and gave up.
What i mean is what movies/books whatever irl they like
You can't recommend some sci fi games if they can't stand it in other medias

Super Mario Bros 1
look at these juicy funbags!
Call of Duty, Legend of Zelda, Mario.
Ironically, something mainstream is the best to start with. It obviously depends on what they like, but it is hard to determine the right answer even with that information. I had such conundrum with my cousin, and I simply presented as many titles as possible and hoped one eventually stuck. It's honestly amazing how rapidly one can shuffle through a library in a 'sample taste' fashion.
What's also amazing to observe is how inept a complete newbie can be at basic tasks that even casuals take for granted. I have never seen a person struggle so hard to shoot and navigate at the same time, much less listening to the dialogue on top of it. It's like looking in the mirror from my own early days of playing video games.
Tetris
post more breast envy
If your goal is to play games with them in the future and you like:
Shooters: Warframe, Borderlands
RPGS: Kingdom Hearts, FFX
CRPGS: D:OS2
Strategy: Civ
Action/Adventure: Any Zelda Game
Platformers: Any mario game that isn't sunshine
All are able to have their difficulties made fairly trivial, but all still teach important mechanics for their genres, as well as skills that carry over into other games
Spec Ops: The Line
Fate/Grand Order
