Nigger, that's a bubble wand.

Yeah they suck
Analog keyboards are where it's atwooting.io/

I don't really get why console fags have such a hard time getting adjusted with keyboard controls.
It's basically using a dpad with alot more buttons.

I would post some cool pic but this is a blue board

>PC 2 when?

post anyway

Lack of analog controls is really a killed for a lot of games

This is your brain on controllers.

There is only one thing a keyboard is missing to be perfect: a thumbstick.
>but mouse
You still need an extra one, and it becomes more evident with sports games where 8 directions won't cut it.

keyboard is perfect for PC gaming
>b-but it has so many buttons!
>i can't remember them all!
brainlet tier problems

We've went over this a shit ton of times already. Unless your god dam games a simulator with actual legit physics you can use keyboard and mouse perfectly fine.
If it does you need a fucking actual wheel. Enjoy spending 200 asshole.
Trackmania players at the highest skill level tend to use keyboard anyways.
What the fuck are you going on about sport games requiring more then 8 keys? I'll be honest and say I'm not a huge sport enthusiast but hell I remember being fine with digital controls for sport games back in the era of the Dpad.

Who hurt you?

WASD works perfectly fine because you use your mouse to adjust for more angles of movement by spinning the camera.

The only real negative with WASD is you can't walk with it, but I honestly don't find myself walking much in analog stick games either.
Something feels weird about only tilting the stick a tiny amount, I prefer the toggle.

In PES and FIFA you absolutely need two sticks. One so you can move at 360 degrees and the other one for the direction of your passes and shots, which is even more important to be 360.

Tell us you use your brainpower to have analog movement on a keyboard then, genius.

analog keyboards are a thing

I've been using joycon+mouse for anything that doesn't freak out from this setup for a while now. Aside from compatibility it has keyboard beat.

Attached: p-158213-wii_41b__55097.jpg (500x500, 16K)

WASD a shit
who here ESDF master race

>the most boring fucking sport games on the market.
Pes only redeeming quality is being extremely moddable. Yet another fucking reason why I don't need a controller for most games.

Attached: 1566437535013.jpg (1024x765, 52K)

Yeh, this is the most comfortable and Splitfish has all the buttons you need.

They are, I don't know if I'd want to use one though.
I'd need to test one, but part of why people are so picky about keyboards is the actuation point that you can physically feel on a keyboard.
If you don't have a similar thing on an analog keyswitch then it's going to make uses that don't use analog a worse experience.
For example, typing or any game that doesn't expect analog movewent with WASD.
You'd basically need to remap WASD to an xinput analog stick for most games out now to work with it.

analog keyboards exist, faggot, this isn't 1995

>no number row
>the ZXCV row is at a weird angle
That looks awful.

While the keyboard is great for FPS, strategy, and RPGs, it's ass for platformers, racing games, and sports games in general. At that point I turn to controllers.

I didn't say it didn't have X, I just interjected to say that shit is fucking ugly.
>have to bottom out every time
you're not going to convince a lot of people with this

most PCfags would not argue with this.
I personally have a variety of controllers and am fine using them when I need to.

I will say for 2D platformers a keyboard is surprisingly decent, although I still generally use a pad instead.

And what? You can press the 9 and 0 keys while strafing with ESDF? This is my point exactly, you need an analog stick on your thumb for dedicated movement, so you free your fingers for pressing shortcut keys.

Nigger turn the lights off if it bothers you so much, if you do it'll look like a generic nondescript 60% keyboard

I think the problem is you think the LEDs are the only ugly thing about that keyboard.

What the fuck is analog keyboard?

lmgtfy.com/?q=analog keyboard

instead of a binary on/off of a keystroke it's a potentiometer

shit thread
stay on resetera transvestite faggots

Get a mouse with 0-9 nig.
Even then what? It will be 10x faster to take your hand off wasd to press 0-9 then it would cycling through your weapons in a fps.
You know that's why 2 weapon limit was a thing for most console shooters right?

That's...just a keyboard with keys slightly raised

Just stick with controller at that point

It's a black slate with black keys. What exactly triggers you so much?

>play Minecraft again for the first time in years
>remember that it's shit with contollers
>can only play it with keyboard and mouse

It's fine. The only way to improve it would be to make WASD analog. A stick would suck as you can't instantly change direction. You're gonna lose a few frames while moving the stick from side to side.

Wait a minute that's not a Karambit...

Attached: cool dog.jpg (540x564, 58K)

maybe the ugly cheap chink plastic?

What in the flying fuck.

What in the fuck are you talking about? I already have a mouse with 0-9 on the side of it. Then I use the more comfortable nunchuck style controller in my left hand, or if I need more shortcut keys, I use the analogue stick handrest with shortcut keys as in the third post. I have all the shortcut keys I want under my fingers while having the movement dedicated to my thumb. There is literally no reason to use a regular keyboard with WASD or ESDF where you have to take your fingers off the movement keys to press a shortcut key.

Wrong, it has an analog stick for the thumb, so you have it for dedicated movment while being able to use all the other shortcut keys with your fingers.

It's a lot quicker and easier to change direction with ESDF than it is an analog stick.

it's ABS and aluminium, which are industry standards
you might as well complain about the cord being made of rubber and wires, it would be equally retarded

But you can instantly change directions....Just push the stick to the other side, you can do this in a split second. It would take the same amount of time as pushing down a key...

PC 2 came out well before you were born. After PC 700 we switched naming schemes.

>you can do this in a split second
But can you do it in less than 1/60 of a second, or less than 1/144?

>It would take the same amount of time as pushing down a key
You can already have the key held down when you release the other one resulting in instant direction changes.

Attached: bqcgd2z-e1479915754636.jpg (800x600, 98K)

> But can you do it in less than 1/60 of a second, or less than 1/144?

The only time you would need to press the analogue stick in the other direction is from forward to backward, and on WASD surely you would need to remove your finger from W and press S. I don't buy that WASD has an advantage here.

You don't just need it forward to backwards.
Have you ever seen someone peek a corner in Counter Strike? They move side to side very quickly. That's a situation where those few frames can make a difference. I'm sure it's a thing in other games as well.

Taking a split second isn't instant. It's not about how much time it takes to press a key, it's about how much time you spend without input. With a keyboard, that's zero assuming perfect timing. With a controller, you're always going to have a split second between stopping the left strafe and starting the right strafe. Just try stutterstepping in any fps on a controller, it's shit. You can instantly tell someone is playing on a controller because they can't stutterstep or change directions quickly.

just admit you're a tasteless 19 year old that lives with his parents.

What? Learn how to make sense

How do you even aim with a mouse, right analogue stick is much easier to use in fps.

It's not. Only massive casuals think this. Literally the only advantage a controller/joystick/whatever has is analog input.
for any game that doesn't care about analog input, keyboards are far superior with faster inputs, more keys and no keybind sharing.
Also you get to use a mouse instead of a stick which is much better for most things

kek

>not using LMB for forward, RMB for backwards and z/x for strafing
enjoy being shit forever

O.O

>Literally the only advantage a controller/joystick/whatever has is analog input.
But how often is analog input actually used to its fullest extent?

Mouse in right hand, this in left hand....Keyboard has no advantage over this:

.

Bought one in 2010 for uncharted 2 and the aiming was awful.

Is it still the same?

there's a reason why no one uses that user. joysticks are shit, not to mention you're giving up the ability to press like 8+ buttons for something that is detrimental. In what game would you actually use this to any advantage?

To be honest, I never saw that before.
Not sure if this was launched in my country.

More keys.

Console games are all designed with stick acceleration in mind, so it's going to be terrible if devs don't specifically allow mouse input.

My keyboard isn't made by Razer, so it's 100% less likely to disintegrate in my hands.

this plus the nunchuk is actually pretty comfy, since you can have your arms in any position, not just gripped to the controller in front of you

Aw thanks, so that's why it was absolutely shit on Killzone 2, cod, Battlefield, Uncharted 2 and every other PS3 games I tried with...

keyboard actually have potential to include way more commands in games than any console, but devs usually dumb down controls because of multiplatform games

in other words, more reasons consoles are holding games back

That's why Halo has a weapon limit, so you only need to worry about 2 buttons for your guns instead of scrolling through or having dedicated hotkeys.

Life Hack: Turn keyboard 90 degrees clockwise.

Then use:
W - right
A - Forward
Z - left
S backward

You can instantly press all the numbers with your thumb, and hit the space bar with your pinky. This is far more comfortable as well.

Life hack: put your keyboard upside down with the keys facing the surface you're using, this way you can instantaneously press everything just by pressing the keyboard on your desk/ground/whatever surface you're using.

You can also rest your wrist and press a dozen keys at the same time but I guess some people just hate their wrists.

What the everloving fuck that is just retarded
>rest your wrist
>your wrist presses down a dozen other keys directly under it
Idiot

Try it. It's the best. You're underutilizing your thumb and pinky with the keyboard in it's regular position. Rotating keyboard 90 degrees clockwise is far superior.

KB are great for platformers.

Anything you want you can either download it or use a pen drive for it.

my aforementioned new rig was installed via usb drive with a windows 10 os installer in it

2D ones yeah.
For 3D, wasd is a pain in the ass plus having to reconfigure buttons to perform specific jumps and/or attacks just isn't worth the hassle.

never thought about it, but i think it would only work best on games that have a really long number hotbar or something like that

>he states facts
>he must be a shill

you have to keep your wrist high up tho unless you press the rest of the keyboard at the same time too

I had no problem with psychonauts on pc

I don't actually use mine for anything game related anymore but it does have a bit of use.
I used my optical drive to install Windows, read blu ray discs (streaming just doesn't have that quality unless you have super fast internet - I don't), make CDs for the rare client that requests them, and rip music CDs. The last one is my biggest use of the drive, I'm an audiophile that actually buys CD albums for those sweet WAV files and don't trust the 256kbps or less quality of MP3 downloads on the internet.

well tenkeyless just means that the 10 key pad is missing, you're probably thinking of 80% keyboards

Attached: pcplayertranscendsthedesk.jpg (1280x720, 114K)

I think a programmable external numpad is the best option.
>can be used for macros without installing software, they're programmed into the firmware by the user
>can be placed on the left side, improving ergonomics during gaming (your arms shouldn't be wide apart for long periods when using KB+M)
>can still quickly use numbers for calculations and have it feel normal
although you're technically correct, TKL is usually designated as being full sized minus the numpad.

it was 500 bucks in 1995 which was way more than anyone would ever spend on a keyboard, as a result most people just passed on it and very few of them were ever sold.

I get having a separate number pad but where the fuck are the function keys? I actually use F1-F12 regularly. And no, having to press a function key just to activate them won't cut it.

sdawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

just switch to another layer with F keys that way you don't have to press a key to activate them

to each their own.
I just hold Fn to use them, most times that's good enough. For example for most games it's just menus or quick save functions.
Having 9 re-programmable function layers flashable to the firmware kind of makes up for it, I've got a lot of macros for editing and games built into my keyboard that I can just plug into any computer and it will immediately work.

checked what those are and they seem pretty good

whats supposed to be bad about them?

You pay more for less.

they're pretty good, most people genuinely have zero uses for numpads aside from office work
i've been using a 60% keyboard for the past 4 years and the only occasional issue comes up in chink porn games that have keybinds that can't be rebound

wagecucks hate them
that's never the case.
the TKL IBMs were much cheaper then the full size model Ms, as well as the HP TKLs

Attached: HP_USB_mini_keyboard.jpg (956x443, 93K)

ive got retardedly small deskspace and having less of something physically but still performs the same as the original is a great thing

KBM is awesome for most genres
>third person action games
As long as mouse is properly supported (looking at you, DS1 PC port) you have the same freedom as gamepad, while having more potential keybinds for, say, weapon switching.
>FPS
>RPG
>Strategies
Nuff said

Where they start to lack
>fighting games/platformers
While i did not play on a hitbox/arcade stick, larger buttons should be better. In addition, cheaper keyboards have ghosting issues. However, mechanical keyboard is much better than gamepad (most serious players do not use stick for movement).
>flight simulator
You simply can`t simulate analog inputs on a keyboard. However, you have enough precision to, say, launch a rocket in orbit in KSP.

The problem that AAA games want that sweet console exclusivity money, so they underuse the keyboard potential. Case in point - Skyrim vanilla vs Skyui.

Fite me.

but user, im a wagecuck and i love them

i dont think ive ever used numpads ever other than for pc ported console games that love spreading keybinds all over the damn place

>h es, I on ever se 17 etters i the ahabet, ho cod o te?

a lot of the time you can get away with a TKL with simple rebinds.
For example GTAV uses the numpad to control aircrafts, but you can just as easily rebind it to IJKL and it works the same.

Yes, an analog stick gives you finer control over your movement, but in most games you always want to be moving as fast as possible, either to dodge or to reach your destination as fast as possible, so that added control is useless. The most important thing in a game is responsiveness, and WASD + mouse to change your direction is a billion times faster than slowly dragging an analog stick.

There's a reason why PC FPS have far faster and more skillful movement than their console counterparts.

It supers

Explain please

KB+M is great but that is the one area I found it lacking in and preferred to use a controller.
Not a big deal, peripherals improve the experience. The keyboard was never intended to be a game input device to begin with, devs simply adapted it to suit since everyone on a PC has one.

If you are playing a game like dark souls it is frustrating.
You can use the mouse for the camera but your character moves around freely without being fully locked to the camera. W,A,S,D gives you 8 directions like using a Dpad which sucks when you want fine grain motion.
Even if you have analog input for the keys it is awkward compared to pointing a thumb stick in the direction you want to go which is far more intuitive.
The game was designed to be used with a controller to begin with so it is not surprising.

On a different note, you could fly aircraft with KB+M after a lot of practice since it is counter intuitive but getting a hotas and pedals is waaaaaaay more enjoyable and easier to control.
I am fairly certain it would be the same deal for driving with VR and a racing wheel+pedals as well.
Peripherals improve the experience.

Yet to find an input device that does the job better for RTS games though.

Steering wheel is god tier for pyro

you're no Fn.

>But you can instantly change directions
>you can do this in a split second
These are two different things.

I always find it funny how floaty the movement in some console games for the sake of realism, but then you realize it's to fit a controller poor response time.

Attached: 1559123416649.jpg (1278x717, 413K)

It's not just movement that's tailored to console controls. It affects a lot of aspects of games. For example many FPS designed around consoles have level design that tries to have you encounter enemies in front of you as much as possible so turning around is rarely necessary. CoD games are the prime example for this.

...your an complete idiot, and not just that, your a retard too !

That's actually how I play 2d games when I don't have a controller on hand. Original Cave Story was like that by default as well.
