I already have a 144hz monitor which is all you need. Anything more is just redundant, like going from 200fps to 1000. Sure the jump from 60 to 120fps&hz is noticeable and a great improvement, almost like 30 to 60fps, but anything past that just becomes marketing bullshit to sell to rich people with too much money and not enough sense. Like companies selling mice and advertising how they have "DPIS UP TO A MILLION WOAH" as if that actually fucking matters. Anybody with two brain cells uses

the difference between 60 and 144 is big enough for me but the difference between 144 and 240 is negligible. you're just retarded

I have a 1440p 144hz one, and my 1080ti has trouble pushing some newer games to that much
also framerate gets some pretty hard diminishing returns after about 160, you're getting to a point where you're wasting a lot of resources on pushing out a fuckton of extra frames instead of more resolution or grafix

It's possible, but you need to spend a lot of time calibrating, silicon lottery also plays a part in terms of black uniformity and such.

However input lag is much more egregious to me which is why I traded up to a TN panel from my old, more expensive VA.

I can't decide if I want 1440p/144 or 4k/60 so I'm stuck at 1440p/60.
VA and 32'' or bigger of course.

A lot of 120+Hz monitors use backlight strobing to keep the response time low and counteract motion blur, that could be what was doing it.

Yea I never understood how that is even possible but playing on a 144hz monitor always fucks me up, like reading in a car. Probably some fucky inner ear bullshit since not a single organ in my body seems to work properly

Not in the near future. The combination of the pace at which more powerful hardware gets released, game tech, optimization and consoles being the main platform means that 1080p will still be the mass market resolution for at least a few more years. 1440p is way more realistic to reach higher frames on without having to play on low settings. 4K is just too big of a performance hit so unless you're willing to sacrifice fidelity and FPS then it's not a good idea. Not to mention that by the time 4K becomes the norm, the display tech will be way ahead and you'll be stuck with an outdated panel type that can't make use of certain features like freesync and whatever new thing they come up with.
