Microsoft didn't want to fund a sequel. Remedy only just recently acquired the full rights to the IP but they were working on Control. they absolutely could do Alan Wake 2 now. not enough time has passed to say that they wont.

because they're dumbfuck retards who released to up against red dead redemption and when it under-performed, Microsoft did what Microsoft always does to studios who work with them, release a game that doesn't sell to their wildly high expectations, and aren't making halo, gears, or forza and told them they weren't interested in giving them another chance. this is also why insomniac came running back to sony after microsoft hyped the shit out of sunset overdrive then immediately treated it and its devs like a redheaded stepchild once it turns out it wasn't a huge smash hit like they were hoping.

A great tragedy we never got a follow-up and never will without it being Pachinko, honestly I wish Rising was a few more levels longer, shit comes and goes without much time to settle on anything with Mistral, Monsoon & Sundowner feeling underdeveloped as a result. Also would've helped with the pacing with regards to Raiden regaining Jack the Ripper because that shit comes out of nowhere.
