The amount you can "build" in this game is almost 0. There's one optimal way to play every job and if you read the skill tooltips almost all of them are pretty intuitive. If you want to play at a tip top hardcore level then you should do extra research but it'll take you a long ass time to get there.

you can be every class in this game so just take your time and learn their stories, and level all the professions to 15 to get cross skills if you into crafting, and fishing is max comfy in this game

Ranged DPS are basically always within attack range of their target. Being melee is more of a gamble, and that gamble should have a payoff.

Basically every well-balanced MMO follows this principal.

This Tokyo Drift rotation is meme. If you check fflogs you will notice that not everyone triple weave. Even with NIN in group. You don't need to force yourself doing this shit. As rotation goes SMN is fine and not fucked like NIN.

The job was basically undesireable and borderline unplayable for 3 years. It only became playable in 3.3, and people only started adding them to comps (as a 4th) in mid-Stormblood.

It's probably the only job out there that deserves to finally be competitive, and I hope the same happens for SAM someday.

We're on 3S prog now. Started a week late and then half the static was on vacation during weeks 3 and 4, so we're a bit behind. To be honest, I'm surprised we're even on 3S prog now, considering we also only run for two hours two days a week.

You can meld whatever you like on BLM. Spell Speed is nice (I run it), but if you don't *like* going fast, you just meld DH/Crit instead.

Ranged DPS should have the most complex rotations to make up for the lack of needing to be in melee range or the loss of mobility of being a caster, instead of just having lower damage
For some reason FFXIV does the opposite, just making them useless. I think the best approach they can take now is to heavily nerf or delete trick attack and make NIN akin to DRG and MNK with little utility but high DPS, and make BRD and MCH buff sluts again

For me, 3,020-3,121 SpS is a pretty comfortable tier, as it makes F4/B4 an even 2.5s cast time, and Despair is down to 2.68s. You're also able to comfortably weave TCP at any point in your rotation without fear of dropping during your Despair cast/

If the third party data didn't exist, they'd never even notice there was a difference to begin with.

Listen here retard, the entire design around the jobs is that more utility = less dps. It's nearly always been this way, but the balance gets kinda fucky when an expansion starts. No one expects anything other than SAM or BLM to be at the top because it's rightful that they should be there, because they don't bring anything else. DNC has a place because it makes everyone around them better. In a purely prog mindset, it would be inefficient to bring a BRD or MCH, because they don't bring anything as remotely useful except what, Nature's Minne for BRD and a 3 minute cooldown, 15 second direct hit buff? Their single defensive cooldown that DNC also has?

However, NIN was too far gone to even be brought to fucking normal Eden, let alone savage. It was performing so badly, everyone, literally everyone, was talking about how bad it was. And now it's back where it should be, and all it took was some minor potency buffs. Without them, it was not worth playing or bringing. You worked too hard to get less out of it. May as well play something else. Which most people did. It's the same reason you may as well just play BLM instead of SMN unless you're just learning a fight. The extra rez and shitty buff simply do not compare to BLM's raw output. Even a complete retard playing BLM will outperform even the most perfectly played SMN rotation. There should be good reasons to play these jobs besides damage output, but the pruning left jobs like NIN, BRD and SMN with... not much of anything except some damage and a less-than-stellar amount of utility that doesn't compare to other jobs.

BLM plays exactly the fucking same from 70 to 80, you only change once F4 for Despair and Foul for Xenoglossy

Its mobility is proc-dependent and Xenoglossy isn't the same thing as having mobility available at all times.

I've been using Of the Vengeful Lance for over 4 years now since my character's second name is Chulainn and that's the title you gain from getting Gae Bolg. Its really rare to see anyone using it.

BLM's mobility is Triplecast, free spells from procs, Xenoglossy, teleport to party-member and teleport to Ley Lines. Triplecast has a decent cooldown, Thundercloud's free Thunder III isn't always available, Firestarter's free Fire III isn't always available, Xenoglossy requires a sizeable charge-time to build its stacks, and the to-from teleports are for maximization of uptime or to panic-teleport to a party member. Xenoglossy is the only mobility tool Black Mage has gained since Stormblood and the vast majority of your time is going to be spent standing still just because of how the core Fire IV -> Blizzard IV/Flare -> Freeze rotation works, unless you want to cite Umbral Soul being a better Transpose.

GNB is pretty damned close to a DPS in actual functionality and would whet any inclinations you have for a melee DPS at the same time as a tank. BLM is pretty unique and involves sitting still for large periods of time to fire off constant heavy-hitting spells, it's a different animal from SMN and I recommend it for sheer fun.

It's basically just a question of confidence in yourself and your party. The more you tank the more you get used to it and get an understanding for how much you can pull. Also depends a lot on your healer.

Generally 2 packs is a safe amount, with the option to pull more if you think you can. But in leveling dungeons it's okay to go down to 1 if you're not confident or if the healer is struggling, because stat scaling is very harsh in leveling dungeons compared to 50/60/70/80 ones.

Because you can stock polyglot you can basically use Xenoglossy at any time. BLM is far more mobile than RDM or SMN as you never really need to run while playing it. You can just xenoglossy and teleport. There are almost no fights where you'll have to move in distances too long to slidecast more frequently than once every 30 seconds or so.

I like progressing and I like the learning part but constantly getting stuck because people just aren't "getting" it or they duck raid night is getting frustrating. I liked my first static and they're good people but I don't want to be chained to e1s for life.

I have no idea what to level up. I used to main SCH and WAR but I got all my classes to 70., Sch and War seem so gutted, SCH especially, and I hear War is boring now.
I know there were a lot of people who really liked DRKs playstyle in 3.x, but I was never a fan of it.
But from the little I looked over the tank classes, it seems they play a lot more alike compared to before, and DRK seemd fun enough now.

Technically it should be the lowest rDPS, but only by an insignificant margin. That way you prevent the syndrome of people just locking in SAM/BLM because they don't require everyone to be performing well to get results, but you also incentivize groups to bring them because they make the best use of the buffs that other jobs provide.

I actually don't mind the Amdapori connection to sin eaters since even old lorebooks describe them as being from visions of extraterrestrial creatures, though with their own say-so that they're riding by the seat of their pants with the plot they probably weren't banking on the First or sin eaters at the time of writing. It strengthens white magic's connection with holy/light spells compared to coasting off of Conjurer's connection to the elements, too.

Nah, SAM is a little bit below where it should be. Ideally SAM should be only slightly below BLM. MNK and BLM are really the only jobs where they should be in terms of rDPS. MNK is slightly higher than BLM in an optimal group, because it provides a slight group buff but slightly less personal DPS. Ideally every job should be within 1k rDPS of each other. DRG, NIN, RDM, SMN, BRD, MCH, and DNC should all be buffed in such a way that they end up ahead of MNK on rDPS by a bit. The less pDPS a job has, the more rDPS it should have (since that job will only hit those "peak" rDPS numbers in a group with "selfish" DPS in it anyway) to encourage parties to bring varied comps. Also BLM should be able to raise or RDM and SMN should have their raises removed so that they don't have to add a raise tax to RDM and SMN DPS.

Amdapor and Sin Eaters from The First having a connection doesn't make any logical sense to me. Amdapor is what? Hundreds? Maybe over a thousand years before the modern era? The flow of time between The Source and its Shards is wonky, but as far as I know it's still linear. The flood of light was still happening during HW's story, which as far as I know is when Sin Eaters first started appearing in The First.

Unless time moved so agonizingly slow during most of that flood period that it took centuries in The Source for it to play out.

If you mod the game, you know how much bullshit they're spewing. Every single race reuses the midlander or highlander body models except for lalafells and roes, which now are reused by hrothgar. Gear looks so wonky on some races because they seem to be automatically scaled by the devs the same way body parts are.
So the "cost of developing a new race" is just adding more variables to the body/gear scaling algorithm they use and ONLY requiring manual input in the case of offsetting emotes and minor adjustments. You're right, but even ignoring XIV's lore, catboys are generally one of the furthest fantasy races from people's minds when they think of the type of race a dom would play. Then you add the fact that all catboy PCs in XIV are canonically failures and cucks and that becomes even more pronounced.
