On turn based battles but the way people face off is a nice attempt at making it look more realistic and I'm kinda into the idea of them doing a skit on all the jrpg combat tropes through the lense of a modern setting

At least with turn-based, there's tactical decision-making and maybe a little less tedium in the battle. I love the fighting in yakuza, but without the flashy specials, it gets really tiring really quickly

you assumed that when i said fantasy i meant a certain type of fantasy, when i was referring to the overarching concept of fantasy. A grounded game about yakuza fighting each other with spiked bats, knives, and guns just seems like such a strange setting for turn based combat to me.

I mean the previous Yakuza games had glowing energy coming out of people's fists and shit, I know it's just meant to imply power and not be magical but the series hasn't stick to 100% realism it's taken it's stylistic liberties. As long as the attacks in turn based combat fit the same tone I don't really see a problem with it all combat in games is an abstraction a brawler isn't anymore realistic than turn based.
