How does she keep the mountains of enemies across her borders from attacking a weakened foldan, one that condemns the existence of Crests, which were the only think supporting the strength of Faerghus and keeping the line at Fodlan's Throat? And what happens when Edel dies?
If we think about what would realistically happen, if the whole world didn't make itself retarded for edel, she would fare no better than the Romans did, or the French.

If anyone wants to answer this or debate me on it, I'm all ears btw. It's the one reason I have been dreading her route so much. I feel like no matter what she does, her overall plan and allegiances come across as shallow, and the ways that her route tries to humanize her and her war just feel cheap and lazy, especially coming out of other routes that focus so heavily on the wider sociopolitical aspects of Fodlan.

Saying she did the best for Fodlan isn't really any more true than saying that she's evil.

Arguably she didn't do anything right, as she used war and her first resort. Her actions make sense for her character, but all that really says is that she may not have truly been the right person for the job. She has good intentions you could say that the ends don't justify the means.

Edelgard's main characterization is "the ends justify the means revolutionary", and Byleth's influence is the only thing that keeps her from completely going off the deep end.
The story of the Immaculate One and the true nature of the Fodlan church is passed down through the imperial family, so her intention from the beginning is to remove/eliminate that so the country isn't ruled by non-humans. To that end she works with TWSiTD, in an "enemy of my enemy" relationship when they're really both just using each other. It's kind of a shame that they aren't dealt with until an epilogue in her route, because otherwise she accomplishes the most of any route in the most effective manner possible.
She doesn't try to justify her actions beyond freeing humans from non-human rule. Conquering the Kingdom is necessary because it's the seat of the church's power after Garreg Mach and the Alliance would cause even more trouble if she went directly for Rhea's seat of power first. Also, given her Crest situation, she never expected to live for very long which is one of the reasons why she used war (it's quicker than years of political dance and spy-vs-spy backstabbing) and plans to abdicate after finding a successor. She's a flawed and tragic character, especially as the main or secondary villain in the other routes, but I don't really understand why people don't think she should've resorted to war. Based off the information she had at the time of the game's events, it makes sense.

Edelgard motivation is explained in her own route. Eveything else is answered in Golden Deer

The funny thing is what she "knows" are actually lies, heck one look away the actual history of Fodlan could tell you that. The church established the religion sure but its stated and shown multiple times that its influence isn't nearly as great as Edelgard claims it to be. The Adestrian empire were the actual rulers of the Fodlan when it was founded and therefore are the ones responsible for establishing its nobility and therefore the ones who could have done something about the crests becoming so influential but chose not to. And we can't blame Rhea for the Crest worship because she hated it.

Long story short Edelgard is just blaming the inhuman dragon for the flaws of humans and the mistakes of her ancestors because that's easier than admitting to the failures of humanity. Edelgard herself is simply too broken to even consider finding a more peaceful solution even though one existed. That's why she's wrong and that's why she's tragic and why she's the villain in the other 3 routes because she fights for a worthless cause.

It's important to note that Rhea did help found the Empire, but it was in order to fight Nemesis' forces. And we've seen times in other Fire Emblem games where gods did actually bless humans and there decedents with power, humans themselves distorted the intention in Three Houses.

Both Rhea and Edelgard are wrong but Edelgard is a much darker shade of grey than Rhea, and could be considered outright black in all the other routes. But she is definitely chaotic and definitely not good.

Awakening and Three Houses I would recommend. Don’t play Fates until much later after you actually start liking the series. You don’t want your first game to effect your expectations how most of them are supposed to be played anyway.

I guess this is just my interruption but I thought her plan was supposed to appear aggressive and a bit careless but she just rushing through doing what she's doing for control as fast as she can because she's dying from crest cancer.
I mean even if her end goal is destroying the church I would think the best way to get handle them and the slithers would be to turn them against each other (maybe trick Rhea out to a spot where they can launch the missiles at her then triangulate where shambala is and rally fodlan against them). M8 in GD which might be the most golden of all the endings of you pair Claude with F!Byleth you see that the slithers invade Derdriu, and that route is one where you destroy Shambala

All of them have subtle loose ends if you look hard enough. Dimitri dies young in nearly every ending because of his trauma

You can understand what they want you to know in that route by talking to the characters. Edelgard's route is the one with the least cutscenes.

That only happens of you S support Claude with FByleth and even then the Slithers get ganked by Claude and the Alymeran army leading to Fodlan and Alymera uniting. Therefore ending their conflict for good. So it still ends up better off than Edelgard's ending.

Hell, no matter how you end BL, Dimitri still reforms Fodlan and succeeds in uplifting the poor, and making society not obsessed about the crests. Him dying early in some endings is just a personal tragedy.

This is the only ending that also allows Claude to achieve his goals in his lifetime. Also it's more than likely was just a rude to get the two sides to cooperate.

The GBA FE Games are pretty easy to play and get into, they're a good starting point if you want to get a taste for the older games in the series.
If you want to keep up with the newer games, I could cautiously recommend Echoes for it's fantastic presentation alone, but the caution comes from the gameplay being archaic map design. Great Game, but Celica's route will make you want to drop the game at many points. Echoes has weapon arts and a turnwheel too, so you should be able to transfer smoothly.

So when you play Awakening don't self insert just use FRobin and think of her as Chrom's a love interest. That's how I treated them in Awakening and it's story ended up being okay. Admiiitingly its easier here since she actually doesn't get along with everyone.

In 3H use FByleth and just treat her as though she's basically Naga/ main lord love interest this works for Bl and GD.

The more you detach yourself from them the better they are. That's why I just treat the My units as love interests for the main lords since they serve the same function.
