Find a single flaw, pro tip: You cannot
The graphics aged like shit.
System is trash.
Its too generic, its the only Squaresoft game that i cannot force myself to play
Wrong retard
Bland characters outside Sydney, that's pretty much the only flaw
Convoluted battle system.
the manuals have incomplete, misleading, and even outright wrong info.
the game itself though, yeah, it's great.
Bland characters, apart from Rosencrantz & Guildenstern.
wouldn't let me backflip 360 no scope
You cant change weapons without going to the main menu
Block Puzzles!!
Unironically this.
Too pixelated and doesn't get to benefit from it.
The art direction is great, but the tech used did not age well.
>The graphics aged like shit.
What did he mean by this ?
>ashley, sydney, hardin, ashley, merlose, grissom, tieger, neesa
>bland
wtf
The item- save- chest system. That f'ing sucked.
[spoilerI love Vagrant Story though][/spoiler]
I swear Callo was supposed to be a playable character.
In Bizarro World!
This game is achingly beautiful. Art Squared.
They were going to have a sequel but Square Enix cancelled it because they needed to spend the budget on more piece of shit Final Fantasy games instead despite FFX already being way into development
FFX is better than Vagrant Story in every way, though.
>youtube.com
find a flaw, literally one
Aw fuck.
This and derp
It has no sequel
Block puzzles and clunky menus. People who say it's too slow are expecting a different kind of game. People who think the combat sucks are brainlets. It's one of the best RPGs ever. Play Crimson Shroud if you haven't.
Tieger and Neesa were cool.
FFX was the worst piece of shit
The menus are an absolute dogshit, especially the fact there's no presets or ability to quickly swap weapons.
Having to look at a guys naked ass for the entire game.
One of the ugliest and most boring games I've ever played. No idea why Yea Forums praises this game.
The battle system is shit, the platforming parts suck, the camera is bad, and the crafting is janky.
>enemies can cast insta kill spells on you
Shit taste zoomer
How come this game never got a sequel? any boomer can explain me this please
Spirits Within cost 137 Million dollars & was a massive failure. All of that could have been avoided however if Nintendo didn't back out of their negotation deal to purchase SquareSoft in 1999
*casts magic ward before entering a new room*
NES was my first console, zoom zoom.
I cant play it, the controls felt akward
Isn't the spell really unlikely to hit you?
Matsuno never wanted to do a sequel and it didn't sell great. It's the reason they made a kid the protagonist of XII. The stuff about a sequel is lies--he was busy with XI and briefly Tactics 2 rather than Vagrant Story 2.
>walk in to harpy room
>it casts banish
>somehow survive
>walk in to lichs room
>radial surge lvl 1
>instajibs me
arooooooooo, I still fuckng love the game though, fuck liches
>The art direction is shi-
doesn't have a fancy remake
Needs qol improvements rly bad famalamaloo
>when your daily Vagrant Story shitpost thread finally get ignored enough on /vr/ you bring it to Yea Forums for easy (you)s.
Too much fucking menu swapping. Even just having just 2 weapons you can quick switch would have this game much better.
>letting the magick dude even cast his spell instead of running up instantly and chaining him to deal at 1 dmg a hit
The risk system is stupid and people that can't do chaining are even more stupid.
Protip: Listen for Ashley's grunt, not the visual of the weapon swinging or the exclamation mark. You now chain into the 50s easily.
so many fucking zoomers banging on about the menu, just cos you're not 360-noscoping every boss within 10 seconds doesn't mean it's bad
Some of us enjoyed carefully planning our approach to new bosses/enemies
Cast ward you dumb nigger.
>be 10 years old kiddo
>mfw those grafxs
how did they do it?
I hate threads like these. All they do is solicit the indignant uninformed opinions of absolute retards to shit on something.
Zoom zoom
Maybe its all a test to see if its real Riskbreaker hours up in Yea Forums?
>finish game
>well, it wasn't that hard
>tfw that secret dungeon that can only be played after you beat the game
some game mechanics are redundant and useless such as break arts, and healing is way too easy
>roach hair
>flaw
>Blatantly unfinished
>Completely broken and beyond simplistic game systems
>Dumb minigames that can also be trivialized by a single item
>Meme translation
>Erratic plot, characterization and narrative
>No asscheek slapping SFX for Ashley
>Blatantly unfinished
explain
I think those times are long gone, user. Even the Valkyrie Profile thread on /vr/ is filled with nothing but Yea Forums-tier windowlicking and shitposting.
Quebec ruined it for me.
You know the fight where you team up with Sydney for one fight?
He was supposed to join you for the rest of the game. Everything we played was essentially the chapter 1 of the game and they just ended the game when it was hitting chapter 2.
How is that true though, that'd render the entire story after that point completely pointless
Sydney's entire plan was to test ashley and then pass the city's power to him and the top of the cathedral
that sounds like fucking shit desu fampai
What is there to explain, the game is obviously and notoriously unfinished.
What you get is actually half of the original game, you were supposed to murderhobo your way back to the graylands with Sidney as a buddy in the original draft instead, Neesa and Tieger were also supposed to be your partners(There's even artwork about it shown in the staff roll) and so was Merlose since the game was originally supposed to use the Gambit system Matsuno recycled for FFXII, there's an undocumented but fully functional monster taming mechanic so they can work as temporary partner too.
VS as it is now is a hastily made frankenstein monster of bits and pieces of the game it was supposed to be, which is also why the balance is nonesistent and several mechanics work against each other instead of being complementary.
VS is a fucking mess of an unfinished game.
Yes, in the beginning. An unfinished game is truncated by default.
When he said unfinished did you think the game just froze in place because they just shipped what they coded? No, they plan for the short deadline and change things to fit.
More games ship unfinished than they do finished.
even if that is the case they still created a masterpiece with what they had, you rarely see a game with a story as deep as VS nowadays
>they still created a masterpiece
VS has too many massive craters in game design to be a masterpiece, and the story isn't even deep.
>craters in game design
like?
It's arguably the deepest story in vidya.
>Turn based
>Cinematic
>Old as fuck
You're a fucking retard and a liar. Concept art has Ashley teaming up with Neesa and Teiger, which was cut for technical reason. Also, every game has cut content for many different reasons, are they all half finished too?
He couldn't figure out the combat so he hit every enemy for 1 damage
Like the fact that basic damage multipliers don't work as they should, or the problem with a single CA invalidating the entire system CA/BA system let alone weapon forging, or Counters making you effectively immortal, the list goes on.
He thought the game was an ARPG instead of a turned based game and thought it was shit because it didn't play like a Zelda game
>be kid
>be ESL
>play this game
I don't think any other game BTFO me as hard as VS did.
I like to thinks adults and murricans had it a bit more easy
>he actually hated the translation
nigga that shit is praised in the localisation industry, the japanese script is filled with typical anime cliches and the dude managed to turn it in to gold
>I like to thinks adults and murricans had it a bit more easy
Apparently you're wrong about that, user.
You may like going into the menu every time just to change weapons/equipment/gems, as well as the long saving times whenever you store items in the chest but I don't.
Quick menus/quickswaps for weapons and gems as well as decreasing save/load times would really help this game.
was it really THAT complex?
once I got gud with timing I finished the game by dealing 1 damage per hit to most bosses and enemies.
>was it really THAT complex?
No, VS just has the illusion of complexity.
Vagrant Story isn't complex. The mechanics are just kind of obtuse. Once you get a bit of understanding of what does damage to what, then the game's difficulty is over.
Not really.
I mean, in theory, it could have been, but as the game actually is, it's incredibly simplistic, it just has various layers of distracting mechanics that ultimately do not matter one bit and give you the illusion of depth, like all games made by Matsuno.
What’s this about tactics 2 that isn’t the game boy game?
>hexagon system
>3d iso -> 2d
I think it’s fine that it didn’t happen sounds like it could’ve been a massiv e disappointment
it wasn't this
>Block puzzle
>Backtracking
>grinding
>The game
a lets not forget you are supposed to swap weapons according to the enemy you are facing and doing so requires you to pause the game to navigate through several screens
i still dont understand why people like the game
>I don't understand why people like an absolute masterpiece
What was his problem?
>grinding
You just revealed your own ignorance.
He was based, redpilled and a real human bean, but he didn't know that you must be a pure snowflake to handle the powers of darkness for some reason.
What game do you posing faggots think are complex? And if you say Starcraft or some indie garbage like Zactronics then your opinion will be immediately discarded
Can't swap weapons quickly
The whole weapon type/affinity system makes literally zero sense, you can scan an enemy and figuring out exactly what weapon its weak to takes longer than swapping each weapon in and out
Needing to save when taking stuff out or putting stuff into the storage box, leading to a workshop visit having 2-3 saves trying to get the best combinations
>2 hours long
Jagged Alliance 2
Surely not VS
Disregarded
Literally proved my point. Sorry VS hurt your fragile ego
I don't mind backtracking, but the last time I tried playing I forgot what the fuck I was doing and it would take probably an hour to get back on the right path
You and your badly hurt anal cavity never had a point to begin with.
If you seriously think VS is even remotely a complex game I don't know what to tell you, because as much as I would like it to be and acknowledge that it does have what it takes, it ends up delivering none of its potential complexity, let alone challenge.
The game doesn't have a journal system or anything to help you catch up with recent events/next goals, but IIRC, the map will show you the doors or entrances that you haven't been to yet which helps.
Can you just get a trip already so I can filter you? Didn't even make it through half your moronic postering before I completely gave up on reading it
