No just get the PC port (not the one where you need to pay money) doesnt require being always online has proper music not that fucked piece of shit that is the new port. Alternativly just hack your switch abd play the superior port (that is also free). In short dont pay for doom just play it

I played the game on Switch and it has really dogshit FPS, like, it feels like I'm playing on a powerpoint presentation. Did the original DOOM on DOS feel this way, or is this just Bethesda's shit porting? I've played on GzDoom and the FPS is fine but I understand GzDoom is not how Doom was originally intended to play.

Doom may run fine on a calculator but Unity never does and this is not a Doom port, it's the game recreated in Unity.

It's cause they capped the fps at 35 like the original pc version which was made for 70hz displays which leads to really bad jittering on 60hz displays. I dunno how they didn't think it through.

Dude, we are well past the stage where anything but the original retail copy is using the original Doom engine. That shit has been modified to hell and back. If this is not a recreation in Unity then why are they patching shit like lighting and sounds? Unity is clearly not acting merely as a frontend to a separately executing Doom engine. It is the engine.

The engine code is open source, the game is not. To actually play Doom you are still supposed to pay for it even today.
