Trodged my way up to level 30. Probably died 900 times doing it. It’s definately fustraiting at times the way mob aggro works and Wanding being super fucking clunky. But I’ve already talked to a ton of people and had a bunch of memorable interactions. Also with the simple economy and resources along with satisfying gear and talent progress it actually feels like I’m playing a good mmo.
Pvp has been light, seems like my server is horde dominated. Still got into some fights over resources. Other times I’ll just seduce em with my succubus and /kiss as I run by because I’ve already spent too much time in some god forsaken shitty quest.
The tension when questing with alliance around is pretty good.
overall it’s somethig that needs to be experienced to understand what makes it enjoyable. Some people say it’s not for everyone, but I think it can be if you just play how you actually want to and just don’t worry about what the fuck anyone else says.
The worst parts have been the random disconnects and some Incredibly RNG quests where even grouping will hurt you so you are just competing with your own faction to not get fucked.

Layering sucks more than I thought it would. Player density for a high pop layered realm is less than a lot of private servers I've played. Also, there have been a shit-ton of disconnects while seemingly playing by myself.

Shills keep shilling about how awesome Classic is but I'm not seeing it.
Gameplay sucks dick. Classes seem really boring and there's a lot of downtime. Spamming 1 spell over and over again and drinking for 45sec+ after killing 3 or 4 mobs is lame. All quests are basically "kill X mobs" just like a hack'n'slash ARPG except the combat is not nearly as exciting. Lore seems to be lame as well.

I mean, the game is barely an RPG - it just lacks so many RPG elements. Character customization is shit, there's no stat customization, no real gear customization unless you count shitty enchants, there's a few talents to throw around and that's it. Professions and crafting system is kinda basic, there's just no depth or anything interesting.

It's not a fast, casual game like Fortnite or League or whatever they're playing now where you just log in, click PLAY and you're having fun. You actually have to grind. Except, grinding doesn't feel rewarding. It just feels like a chore you have to do to get to end game to do.. what? Raid log? I dunno brehs.

Struggle? In WoW? You can easily hit max in less than a month.

It's a boring slog by yourself, play with others. Unlike modern MMOs the game is designed to naturally push you into partying. It helps if you have a group of friends already to play it with, the game is a literal 10/10 'play with friends' type game.

Nah, this game isn't designed for partying. Allods Online, for example, was way harder to solo and you had to group up just for normal leveling. You also got 40-man raid quests at like lvl 6 or something.

Level 20 on zandalar tribe (horde). All my friends rolled there but they had a head start and i've been leveling alone. Got ganked a few times which reminded me how tedious leveling can be on a pvp realm when alone. Had some good interactions to but the ganking and camping just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. No, it has threat issues, mana issues and dmg output isn't that great.
Viable dps is mage, rogue and technically fury warrior but it's hard to get a group with warrior. Hunters and locks are taken for utility/curse/enrage dispel but their dps is shit.

I want to play warrior but don't want to tank in vanilla so I just quit since there's really no way for me to get decent leveling weapons without tanking at least a few instances and then doing it a bunch to get geared at endgame. Was enjoying everything else though, just can't deal with the pressure and having no real "oh shit i fucked up" tools other than taunt means I would be causing a lot of wipes the second extra packs are pulled. I have to say I don't remember deadmines being so fucking packed full of mobs, that very first room is a goddamn death trap if you don't take it slow.

There is nothing locking you into a guild. If you see there are only 3 60s you can just leave and find another, unless you're some kind of autist sperg who would feel too bad for leaving at that point.

Layering is really bad. The game feels empty. I've seen more people in 1-30 zones when I was trying an old private server months ago, but on this fresh server there are like 5 people in Duskwood at any given time. It really kills the experience.

I got 6 from my Runescape Clan to play Vanilla WoW back in the day from a top 10 Clan. They were all high ranked Council or Leaders. I was a Rogue. The Clan Leader, a hunter kept pulling everything in sight so we kept dying over and over again. I tried to instruct them what to do and what not to do but it just pissed them off or whatever and they kept doing what they wanted to do.
I thought playing games with friends was supposed to be fun but this is how I learned that it's not always the case. Sometimes you're better off just playing by yourself.

Just got finished farming gnolls to get tailoring up to wool and first aid. Also got cooking to level 75. That gave me three whole levels last night, and I am sixteen and a half now. It was boring at the start, but by the end I thought it was more fun than questing.

But also that's why it was so addictive for so many—it was built to drip-feed you experience at a slow pace, and that constant unlock and slow progression with some story, to get to the promise of better gear and endgame stuff, kept people hooked. It's paced out so that it's easy to just run to the next quest then run to the next quest then run to the next quest.

I agree with you, though. I have so much more fun in other games, and I think about this a lot when I'm playing WoW. Tabletop especially, D&D and other (better) RPG's are how the games are really supposed to be played and show you the real potential and fun of RPG's. In a lot of cases around that time quests aren't even worth the time it takes to turn them in when you could just keep killing mobs instead, generally just go for ones that give you meaningful upgrades, and ones that are already on the way back to your hub whenever you restock on whatever your class uses (if anything)

Bruh mages at your level should be aoe grinding. You can literally kill entire packs of mobs in one go. It's more efficient than frostbolting one mob at a time but also harder and more interactive. Try it.

Really good, if not THE best. Levelling is a breeze and you rarely die. In dongeons you definately get to shine with your CC, survivability and by bringing a good pet that will take some pressure off your tank and is often the difference between a wipe or close fight

Your pet becomes useless (if you send him in he'll die in seconds), your dps is shit and your rotation combined with the fact you don't have to worry too much about melee or aoe will make you fall asleep. I imagine about 0.5% of those subs are people who've completely stopped playing, or even thinking about the game entirely but are still paying their because they've forgotten to cancel it.

Mists of pandaria has some pretty high skillcaps with some classes. Brewmasters tanks could put out some insane dps by gaming the system with their 90% aoe avoidance to boost their vengeance sky-high. But maximizing your dps pretty much always went down to snapshotting with your cds+trinks

I've usually always tried to play some MMORPG's with friends and grinding with them is fun for a while but most of the fun is just playing with your buddies, not really playing the game. If I'm playing on my own, I just feel like it's a point A to point B rushing grind, which probably comes from the fact that I play the games like a grindfest and ignore everything else, e.g. story and other players. Maybe I'm afraid of strangers playing an MMORPG game which sounds ridiculous as fuck.

To be fair lots of people in MMOs are either retarded or just not interested in other players beyond meeting up for mandatory multi-person content.
But sometimes a priest will walk past and cast a buff on you or you'll come across someone from the rival faction and have to quickly assess whether to fight, run or hide and that's when things are good.

I'm giving it the same treatment I gave FFXIV, which is to chill out and read all the quest dialogue. Its pretty generic but it's nice fuel for my headcanon of some lowly adventurer making his name known.

Only downside is my fucking server, Faerlina. God I wish my friends weren't spergs that just like to chase streamers.

None of the early fury talents really help you in leveling. Use something like this. It makes the small amount of points you likely have more worth it. Don't worry about respeccing later, we all respec when we hit max.

Improved overpower is a godsend for all those dodges.
5% parry chance is huge as well, straight up damage reduction and when you parry something your next auto attack is twice as fast.
Tactical mastery makes tanking dungeons and generally being awesome a lot easier but you don't "need" it until you get intercept and mocking blow.

New player here. I'm playing as a dark elf/hunter and am having a hard time choosing a profession. I've read that being a hunter/pet tamer is the most efficient, but I want to be a full bowman, without pet taming. I know it's going to be a lot harder leveling up and progressing as you're supposed to have the pet fight the target and you shoot it from afar. What profession should I choose? I heard there's one that lets me make bombs to stun the target so I can get further away and shoot arows? Has anyone rolled a character like this, give me tips please. I'm level 8 by the way and haven't even gotten training for my class yet, because I'm worried about making choices I'm going to regret later. I heard that it costs a lot of gold to reset & choose different combat abilities.

Do skinning and leatherworking if you want to make lots of shekels.

I would go start with Skinning/Mining. Then at max pick up Engineering/Leatherworking using the mats you've amassed (selling is good too).

Most basic and likely best choice for a new player Like you would to start with leather-working/skinning. Engineering/mining is good as well, but engineering requires some odd mats.
Going Marksmen is best pet if you want to do all the work over your pet. Find a pet with an auto casting skill like screech (owl) and just ignore it.

Pets are mandatory as Hunters, if an enemy gets too close you outright are incapable of shooting your bow/gun. Exploiting this deadzone is what people will be doing to you in PvP.

If you want to heal Druid is fine. They can battle rez so they're nice to have in a raid.

If you want to DPS you probably won't be in any cutting edge raid groups, but you can probably find some casual raiding.

Learning new ranks of skills isn't the same as your talents, which are the things you'd reset to change your specialization. You do however want to only take new ranks of skills that you actively utilize while you level to save money for your mount, and worry about filling everything up once you're at max.

Moving on, I'm going to say this with the utmost of honesty, having played a Warrior to 60, a Priest to 60 and a Rogue to 60, all classes that generally are considered to have the worst time leveling (besides Paladin), and the bar-none worst time I had was as a Hunter after the starting zone, and before I got my pet. That four-level span seems so tiny and inconsequential, but it was more than readily apparent that I was not playing a functional, complete class yet.

The problem is, your major source of damage as a hunter is your auto shot, the basic ranged attacks of your weapon, and in order to auto shoot, you need to not move. You can shave the amount of non-mobile time down to exactly what is needed with a swing timer that tracks the "cooldown" between your autoattacks (very useful and recommended) but it does not change that the NPCs will always outspeed you and catch up. Your melee is also very ineffective and if you're dual wielding forget about ever hitting a move precisely. Your pet is intrinsic to keep the enemy at range and give you the chance to stand still and get your full damage off, plus it has useful abilities to snare, debuff or further harm them, or to give you beneficial effects.

Now you WILL find that in raids a lot of time you might as well not have your pet because bosses will decimate it with cleave effects, and it is then that you may realize your dream, but it is still a benefit to you to pack a wolf, for they can sit by your side passively and still buff you with their family skill.

There's also a huge system to learning pet skills and teaching them to your stable so you should really look that up because I'm tl;dr'ing.

Hi! You seemed to have confused 'viable' with 'good at every aspect of the game'. Don't worry, this happens to a lot of people here. As it turns out, nearly every spec on your list is actually viable, whether it be in PvP, or in conjunction with gear milestones that enable them to function to their fullest extent! Hooray! The only exception is dear Protection Paladins, for you see, the imbalance in PvE content is already skewed towards Alliance's favor, and the addition of a completely new and exclusive tanking class for them to take into raids would further upset this delicate balance into parodical levels.
