It's not just a little buggy, it's practically unplayable
This is one of a handful of games I traded in and I took it back the next day because it was just not very good. I completed it in a day, it wasn't particularly fun, I think I just glitched into the last boss fight because I'm certain I didn't unlock one of the worlds.
Just generally bad.
Wikipedia cites 3/10 reviews from major publications due to issues with framerate, controls, collision detection, sound inconsistencies, graphical glitches, etc.
FOUR DAYS LEFT HNNNNNG
Even if it weren’t so glitchy, it’s still a really half baked game.
This game taught me that just because it has the name of one of my favorite things doesn't guarantee it's good.
Remember those cupid lizards in the "Heaven" level?
Headbutting them and hearing their noisy tumble was SO INSANELY SATISFYING
It was one of the first Soulless games to be created, which is tragically ironic because Ripto's Rage is the most soulful game I have ever played. It defined the word "cash grab"
Coming after a trilogy of consistently fantastic games, it was a pretty big letdown. It had a fuck load of bugs, slowdown, long load times, etc. It was incredibly short, and stuff that was promised early on was cut, like the storyline involving Gnasty and Ripto teaming up. It should be known that all of that was caused by Universal cutting the devs' time and money in half in order to rush it out by Christmas, and not because the devs were incompetent. The GC port actually cleaned a lot of that up and managed to make it an inoffensive 6/10 game, a Spyro title that was merely half-baked and way shorter than it should be. Some of the level themes were cool, the multiple breath types were neat (except for the useless bubble breath) and the soundtrack was on par with the PS1 games.
I'm one of those people who don't think Reignited was somehow a complete disservice to the franchise, and I wouldn't mind seeing ETD get remastered as a $20 expansion pack or something. The short length and halfassed story would be justified, and they could fix the remaining wonkiness.
It's short. It has plenty of good ideas that would have been fun in a longer game but it was rushed in multiple ways so even if the bugs don't bother you the fact you can finish it really quickly will.
