My steam install corrupted when they had me update their shitty controller firmware and I had to copy my brother's steam directory to my drive so I could run steam and fix it.
I opened a ticket with support soon after the issue and it took them 8 months to reply with stupid nonsense that wouldn't have even helped. I never replied and they just closed the ticket assuming my computer exploded and I died, I guess.

You cannot run CoD2 on win10 without something plugged into the aux jack.
Also XVII, you have to copy all the files from the disc to your hdd, run the setup in winxp compatibility mode (sp2) and then run the setup, wait until 100s of instances start in task manager (none show on screen) and then rename the setup msi during runtime and it will come up instantly.

I only recently got into racing games after a lifetime of not paying any attention to them, thought I wouldn't be intersted in cars, turns out I quite like racing games and just never gave them a shot. Some old racing games require really hacky shit to work, especially stuff that was ported from PS1/Dreamcast to PC.

Here is one for running the PC version of Stubb's the Zombie. A game I had to fucking pirate twice and was actually a decent game. Basically Zombies on the Halo 1 engine and you are the first zombie and you must single handedly destroy a futuristic utopia by being yourself!

The PC port of Sega GT for the dreamcast required me to plug a fucking headphone cable into the microphone slot before it would do anything but hang infinitely. How the fuck was I gotta figure that shit out by myself?
In retrospect it was a terrible port too.

ArmA: Armed Assault and Arma 2 were mostly fine, Arma 3 is just an absolute fucking wankpile in terms of performance. They've actually made the game run worse and worse for me over the years with updates somehow. I did get it to a point where it sort of ran okay at one point but things have got much worse since then, (despite me upgrading a couple of times) to the extent that I can barely do anything on the lowest settings on an empty map.
It's so fucked. I loved arma until 3.
