Looks more like the sequel than the original, so I dont have much faith in it, but it's free with gamepass, so might as well give it a shot.

because it's super hard to nail the feeling of tension and fear if there isn't a tangible force to associate with it.
the original movie worked because of two reasons. 1) we were completely sold on it being real, from viral marketing (which the movie pretty much pioneered) to extra effects like having the cast avoid any and all press for a year after release, everyone went into it assuming that they actually found the footage out in the woods and cut it into a documentary.
and 2) the movie itself is shot entirely from the characters POV. the viewer is NEVER given information that the characters don't have. So as the movie goes along we are just as clueless and disoriented as the characters are
