What's the appeal of turn based JRPGs? I unironically don't get it. The "gameplay" is awful and the combat comes down to grinding, spamming attack in a menu and 90% of the time watching animations that take forever.
>The "gameplay" is awful and the combat comes down to grinding, spamming attack in a menu and 90% of the time watching animations that take forever. JRPGs are fundamentally puzzle games where the puzzle is finding a solution to how to overcome a particular challenge. Viable builds for defeating each boss is the puzzle. If the RPG doesn't make that interesting, it's shit. >90% of the time watching animations that take forever. play a decent RPG like Etrian.
Hunter Cooper
>retards can't comprehend people not liking their awful genre
Adrian Reed
>not liking turn based >have audacity calling other people retards

Nathan White
>mashing attack in a menu and grinding the same mob for 10 hours is high iq based retard

TPBP
Dylan Phillips
it satisfies autists by making them progress while doing virtually nothing. the origins of phone games and treating your audience like dopamine addicted lab rats can be traced to JRPGs. brace yourself for a dozen ad hominems from retards.
Josiah Lee
To be fair you need to have an IQ above 65 to enjoy turn BASED gameplay.
Matthew Cooper
>inb4ing your own post All video games are made with the intent of giving dopamine addicts their daily dose, user. ALL of them.
Jose Butler
>90% of the time watching animations that take forever. Stop playing Pokemon and 20-year old games you mongol. And you stop playing MMOs. Literally no JRPG requires you to grind the same trash mob for hours, and only bad RPGs allow you to win every battle with X spam.
Kevin Torres
A bigger question would be: what's the point of those continuous anti-turn-based JRPG threads? Why are you so butthurt about this genre? Also asking "what's the appeal" is always retarded, if you ever have to ask, then it's not for you, and you won't get it because you didn't find that fun.
Jackson Watson
Yakuza 7 will finally be good. Holy fuck can't wait.
William Flores
It's comfy. >Not sitting on a big couch, bundled up with your hot cocoa on a cold winter morning watching your dudes take turns whacking slimes
Jose Scott
What's the appeal of action based WRPGs? I unironically don't get it. The "gameplay" is awful and the combat comes down to grinding, spamming the attack button and 90% of the time sitting through cutscenes and dialogue that takes forever.
Is it just the western version of the visual novel?
Do you think jizzbrains actually play those for the gameplay? No, they play it for their fapbait waifus, flashy animations, generic plot #647 and the lack of putting any effort into their excel spreasheets. Make them play a game where you need to press more than a button and watch them chimpout.
Easton Ross
>What's the appeal of fighting games? I unironically don't get it. The "gameplay" is awful and the combat comes down to tapping out "footsies", spamming the same attack combo ad nauseam and 90% of the time watching animations that take forever.
Because it's not a waifu. It's an attractive female you can barely interact with. Every game genre has attractive females - JRPGs, WRPGs, fighting games, shooters, even fucking racing games have those. You'd have to be a literal fag to consider every rendition of female in gaming a "fapbait waifu".
Lincoln Adams
Then what would be the definition of a fapbait?
Alexander Anderson
Thing I don't like.
Dylan Gutierrez
>what would be the definition of the word that I used? You're really pushing your luck here kid.
"Fapbait" would be characters that are made to be put into arousing situations. In harem animes, that would be the big titty girl that "accidentally" loses her top every three episodes.
>grinding Most modern jrpg don't force you to grind. Dragon Quest 1 was published a long time ago...
Lucas Morgan
Those are common enough in Japanese media, though I guess SMT is an exception.
Lucas Gray
>retard can't comprehend people liking different things
Asher Taylor
Not sure about other jrpgs but the main appeal of Persona and Fire Emblem is the characters and social interactions outside of combat I don't know how anyone could prefer turn based combat to real time action like in Kingdom Hearts
