So here's my honest opinion without shitpostong nobody asked for. >oldest house looks cool, but it's getting boring pretty fast, because everything looks samey >some enemies/bosses are terrible bullet sponges >combat options are limited, and they didn't reach the full potential with wielding supernatural powers >climax of the story is weak and disappointing >gunplay isn't as satisfying as it should be >family cat died on the street today ;_;
The atmosphere, and setting are really cool though. Shame about the rest/. 6,5-10. Add one point more if you're a SCP fag.
>some enemies/bosses are terrible bullet sponges If you are talking about the big fat guys you aren't supposed to shoot them. You are supposed to catch their grenades they throw and throw them back for huge damage. Only enemy I couldn't stand was when they threw the flying guys that dodge everything you throw and gave them a shield that could only be broken with thrown items.
Jason Johnson
>You are supposed to catch their grenades they throw and throw them back for huge damage. I know that, but some bosses are really tedious to take down.
Carter Cox
The "skill tree" is probably the lamest thing in the fucking game, nothing but +X% shit. The enemy variety is way too low, although this has been a remedy problem since forever. The morphing gun is cool, but what's the point when the starting configuration is the best and the fucking materials for new modes take forever to gather. The supernatural powers are all kind of lame just like the time powers were lame in quantum break(generic shit with a time prefix).
It does look good and I'm getting OK fps with no crashes yes. The story is a blatant ripoff of SCP, not that there's anything wrong with it, but it's nothing revolutionary. Like OP said, 6,5/10 and an additional point if you're an SCP fag is more than fair.
Jackson Hernandez
What's the SCP faggotry story?
Isaiah Baker
dude paranormal lmao
Nathan Smith
What is SCP?
Juan Allen
oh no, how your cat died?
Aaron Evans
Someone should buy Remedy and make them create good games directed by a good game designer. Sad to see all this talent being wasted.
Cameron Rodriguez
hit by a car, seriously I feel like shit now
Liam Young
YOU SHOULDN'T LET IT RUN AROUND EVERYWHERE GOOD.
Mason Rodriguez
not op's fault, cat are retarded by nature.
Carson Ortiz
OP IS RETARDED BY NATURE BY LETTING HIS FLEA BAG RUN EVERYWHERE UNLEASHED. CATS ARE DOMESTICATED ANIMALS THEY LITERALLY DON'T CARE WETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A LEASH. OR DO YOU THINK IT'S HAPPIER AS PANCAKE?
Isaiah Murphy
>>oldest house looks cool, but it's getting boring pretty fast, because everything looks samey >>some enemies/bosses are terrible bullet sponges >>combat options are limited, and they didn't reach the full potential with wielding supernatural powers I see that Remedy hasn't learned anything since AW and QB
Mason Murphy
Supernatural men in black
Ian Foster
>>oldest house looks cool, but it's getting boring pretty fast, because everything looks samey >>some enemies/bosses are terrible bullet sponges >>combat options are limited, and they didn't reach the full potential with wielding supernatural powers I see that Remedy hasn't learned anything since AW and QB
Jaxon Walker
Oh shut the fuck up you faggot, cats are not domesticated animals at all you imbecile.
Isaac Morales
Yeah sounds about right. But I have to give it an extra .25 points for the hilarious fridge boss and the absurd puppet shit. I just don't get how reviewers were giving fucking 9s. The tech behind it is good, barring the optimization clusterfucks, but the spectacle isn't enough to supplement how shallow the gameplay.
Like someone explain to me why they just didn't give you an actual sniper, shotgun, assault rifle, BUT made it so that your main gun had even sillier upgrades from the "SCP"s you met?
Luke Myers
Sam Lake has all the creative control and hes got Kojima disease where he really wants to be making movies instead. But goddamn if that man doesnt create the comfiest atmospheres in all of vidya
Christian Long
>that ending >no meaningful use of shifting geometry and gimmicks departments >not enough optional puzzles cool as fuck ashtray maze though.
Seriously, remedy needs to stop wanting to make a TV series andhire some more develoeprs. The concepts they've created are really cool, the Board and the Former, object of pwoer having a gimmick, everything is a great idea, but never expanded upon really.
i also expected some more pwoers tied into the various objects and maybe some dimension hopping with the projector (those reports about Ordinary were really great read)
Having someone like Arkane to help with level design would've elevated this game to 10/10 status
Anyone else realize that the gimmick of "you can grab anything" actually doesn't matter at all? All the objects you throw nearly all act the same and even if there wasn't anything to grab, she'll just grab shit from the ground to make a rock further highlighting just how inconsequential the system is.
Dominic Barnes
>i also expected some more pwoers tied into the various objects and maybe some dimension hopping with the projector This so much. So many wasted opportunities.
Christopher Jenkins
The most disappointing part about all this is that the fucking upgrade system for your abilities all revolved around generic number gains. Like come the fuck on.
Imagine if you could upgrade the gravity gun to levitate and throw more than two objects at a time. Imagine if you could upgrade the shield to have a massive whirlwind of death fly around you. Imagine if you could upgrade the levitation so that you can actually fly fast. Imagine if you could upgrade the force push to just completely obliterate everything in front of you. Imagine if you could upgrade the "dash" to shine spark status.
Fucking imagine all the actual fun shit you do and then contrast it to how completely neutered the abilities are in the game.
Jackson Edwards
>CATS ARE DOMESTICATED ANIMALS THEY LITERALLY DON'T CARE WETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A LEASH
lol no. they fucking hate being on a leash. do you even cat bro ?
Caleb Green
this game has surprised me in different ways. i think the concept they're going after is really cool. it's flawed though and is way too short. 4 years of development only to get a 10 hour campaign is a bit shit but they've put a hell of a lot of detail into the the world even if it is really small and confined to one building.
also one thing that shocked me was how it loads so quick. like it literally takes 10 seconds to fast travel even on a basic hard drive. also there's that recurring scene where you hit the light switch 3 times and it teleports you to a whole different location with no loading screens at all. either they're fucking tech magicians or this whole marketing wave sony have been going on recently and their SSD no loading screens is just bullshit and we can already do that. they're probably using it as an excuse to sell another $600 console.
Asher Cook
yeah, even having more realized departments would've been great, only the luck department had something going on for it (one puzzle, heh) >dead letters had no secret pneumatech running on prayer >the furnace is possibly an intruding organism but you never explore or fight it >power station is not running on diabolical energies or some trapped eldricht beast >research sector is not a bunch of small specialized department that work with rituals and popular belief >no sifting through possibly supernatural garbage in containment area >medical wing is not injecting liquid prayer to heal astralnauts >toilers are not secretly some supernatural dimension pockets that are just waiting to eat you
Asher Cox
You fucks called it SCP so much that when I played it I was actually horribly disappointed how little SCP there actually was.
Where were all the incredibly wacky enemies and one off unique mobs that were just balls to the walls insane? I was expecting something on the level of the original SCP game in terms of variety.
James Mitchell
>The cat (Felis catus) is a small carnivorous mammal. It is the only domesticated species in the family Felidae and often referred to as the domestic cat to distinguish it from wild members of the family
Camden Johnson
>CATS ARE DOMESTICATED ANIMALS THEY LITERALLY DON'T CARE WETHER OR NOT THEY HAVE A LEASH
lol no. they fucking hate being on a leash. do you even cat bro ?
Oliver Bailey
Have you read some files though?
Isaac Collins
Yes?
What's the point if they don't translate it into actual mechanics and intractable entities in the game?
Ethan Johnson
Worldbuilding.
Liam Ramirez
Agreed. I just got passed the part with the furnace and I can feel myself getting bored with the combat. The intrigue of the story has me going, but that also feels weaker than quantum break and Alan wake. I love remedy but I can never understand why they can't get gameplay locked down.
Nicholas Morales
>kids play around the pocket dimensions >bullies find out about it and become slaves to the outworld creature which slowly turns them into monsters >bullies turn their friend into a fucking alien dog >spooky polaris entity latches onto the kids >resulting kerfufle kills off all adult population of Ordinary Jesse Dylan Faden had a hard life.
Daniel Gutierrez
Wanted to play it for the combat but it sucks. The story is more interesting but I'm not playing a game where I have to stop to watch little videos or read a billion office notes where maybe one in ten give important clues instead of just being witty or repeating something I already know. Nothing about it is that bad it's just not fun enough to play.
Leo Sanchez
>repeating something I already know They're rather expanding your knowledge on the things presented in game, and those that happened in the past/elsewhere
Josiah Parker
don't be such contrarian faggots
the game is already critically acclaimed you just hate it because a.) steam drones crying about epic and b.) MUH UGLY WEMENZ
Kayden Morgan
Rest in peace catto
Eli Taylor
Fuck critics, also nobody except you mentioned anything about those things itt.
Nicholas Jones
Why the fuck do devs insist on shoehorning in leveling systems in games that have no use for them?
Anthony Ross
Artificial depth.
Christopher Wright
Occasionally you can grab something that explodes. Imagine if instead if the boring as fuck +% upgrades you could buy upgrades that shapes non-exploding crap into a spear/disk/ball
Connor Ross
>you could buy upgrades that shapes non-exploding crap into a spear/disk/ball God so much potential completely flubbed for a glorified techdemo. It keeps fucking happening Remedy.
Christian Rogers
Remedy's games always have this disconnect. The story is always full of mystery and intrigue, but the gameplay is always barebones as fuck and borderline takes me out of the game. Do they just prioritize their budget on the visual and story aspects of something?
Mason White
it's a decent game my condolences user
Aaron Wood
>could have scrapped the retarded material gathering shit and just made the forms into upgrades >could have had upgrades that allowed you to pick up regular enemies and throw them/crush them/dismember them >dash could have upgrades that damage/knock down/ignite enemies you pass through Either they ran out of time, money or they're fucking retarded.
Dylan Sullivan
>Imagine if you could upgrade the gravity gun to levitate and throw more than two objects at a time. That's a shield's throw. >Imagine if you could upgrade the shield to have a massive whirlwind of death fly around you. That's a levitation's ground slam. >Imagine if you could upgrade the levitation so that you can actually fly fast. That's a dash in mid air. >Imagine if you could upgrade the force push to just completely obliterate everything in front of you. That's a launch and a shield's throw. >Imagine if you could upgrade the "dash" to shine spark status. That's a Golden costume.
Parker Watson
>power station is not running on diabolical energies or some trapped eldricht beast Yeah, like the Director before Trench. Go listen to NSC hotline again. It's fucking Northwood powering the shit
Jose Nelson
How do you even buy this game on PC ?
Juan Bailey
You don't, Tim bought it for you.
Jaxon Perry
It's only on the EGS ?
Jacob Adams
Yes.
Gabriel Davis
You put out a plate of fresh remote for the creepy wanker before you go to bed and in the morning you'll find the game under your shoes when you wake up
Adam Wright
>half-life 2 but you only get the pistol and gravity gun
This crossed my mind. Felt like I was playing a low budget half life
Daniel Howard
In hl2 you could cut zombies in half with the gravity gun.
Kayden Sanchez
Shit, I've been searching Origin, Windows Store and Steam. I haven't read anywhere that the game was an EGS exclusive. They can shove it up their asses. I mean even more that before.
kek
Jonathan Morgan
>you only get the pistol The pistol can also be a shotgun, a machine gun, and other shit.
Blake Kelly
Why couldn't they just have given you every weapon then?
Bentley Lewis
Anyone know where to find Corrupted Samples? It takes too many fucking resources to upgrade shit.
>story is literally "big guy 4 u breaks time" At least levine got shit for being a moron.
Ayden Bailey
I love the way the story is done, the house looks amazing, great fucking graphics and design, I never expected this to be a metroidvania nor did I expect the great gameplay with no cover mechanics at all and high difficulty especially from an AAA westcuck shooter 8/10 so far. Would have been 9 if the heroine wasn't so ugly (but she's at least well animated)
Isaac Turner
What if she had bigger breasts and ass with different bikini unlocks?
I have a hard time playing this game because my GPU is at like 87°C playing it. I don't want to abuse my graphics card for prolonged periods like that.
Nathaniel Evans
> finally I have everything under control™ Fucking seriously Remedy??
Jason Hill
What GPU? I play on a toaster myself.
Michael Butler
You find "find" Polaris inside yourself again and reject Hiss, try to cleanse Dylan who goes into coma, you accept your position as a director, Hiss problem remains
Rest is DLC I guess unless there's a true ending after doing all the sidequests
Andrew Gutierrez
Darling said she is not the source but catalyst. What did he mean?
Cooper Roberts
GTX 1080. Runs around 45fps with a mix of high and ultra.
It's annoying how aggressive the engine is with texture pop in when it never even goes above 4gb usage at Ultra. Also they need to stop doing that extreme closeup of main characters eyes where you can very clearly see the pixellated eyebrow texture, either upgrade the texture or stop using extreme zoom on low res textures.
Jack Baker
More like Control+V because the gameplay is so repetitive
Liam Hall
He said that about Hedron specifically... fuck if I know what he meant
Christian Reyes
The question remains, is the rubber ducky an object of power or not?
Jeremiah Robinson
Pointless if her face is the same. I like her civilian clothes though
hard to say, something about the mystery and the lack of exposition or how the mc involve the player (or is she? is her second voice (you) or not?)
Isaiah Sullivan
You'd know if you touched it
Ethan Bennett
i have a 1070 and it hits 80C max and i average around 60 fps ultra. that's a problem with your PC not the game.
Carter Edwards
Games should really try to use this first person narrative style more. They're always trying to be movies so they don't use it a lot but when you're playing a game you're inhabiting the role of a character so an inner monologue makes a lot more sense.
Ryder Stewart
Turn down the resolution. I get a massive performance boost by just playing at 900p. Pretty much locked 60fps on a 1060, with some medium settings thrown in (max reflections though)
Grayson Brooks
I think that hiss problem remains is just a pretext for post game clean up and side quests.
Angel Walker
rate the npcs: Ahti > Darling > Trench > Dylan >>> the two guys standing pointlessly in Darling's presentation >>>>> everyone else
Gabriel Torres
Spoil it for me. I doubt I'll be going back there
Lucas James
it just teleports around
James Gomez
The duck starts to teleport around you Quacking at a distance and teleporting away when you get close
Carson Martin
Lame
Xavier Roberts
Literally nothing wrong with her face. She's still atractive and you guys are just memeing/overacting/shitposting.
Andrew Sanders
Can you even get rid of it?
William Brooks
I haven't bothered to 100% the game so I don't know about the left over lingering Hiss that were still on this side of the portal when it closed but you do close the portal to the source.
>hiss got to trench first and they let them in. >dylan has been in a coma this whole time. >portal got closed but hiss still lurks in house. >lockdown can't be undone until 0 hiss are in the building. >game picks up again right after real credits are done and you're now the director but still got shit to do. >main character prob has schizophrenia. >more "story" DLC incoming. boring game, if you ask me.
is the DLSS really better than just playing in 1440p with 2xMSAA? That screen looks jaggy as fuck even scaled to my 1080p monitor.
Zachary Sanders
think that's ps4 pro
Brandon Diaz
>SCP game >enemies are normal shootpeople that are glowing red pffff The star of the game is the Oldest House.
Jaxson Mitchell
It's an SCP game, made by normies who didn't understand the gist of SCP all that well. Or how to write one. Or what to do with them in a game. Also the narrative really suffers from the lack of D-class personnel, and substitution of their functions with security staff.. Basically it's a mom-friendly neutered SCP specially for babies who can't handle harsher version.
They just stole the bunch of most boring stuff off the wikia and did nothing interestingwith it, making it even more boring >the creepy sculpture is now a fridge. >There is the Architect, but it does nothing really space-mangling >the mirror world is a classic neutered defeat your evil twin trope >the others are just as boring
There's no altered versions of the bureau or glimpses into realities where bureau has failed, there's no really wicked shit like SCP-1861, Unlondon or world-in-symphony etc.
There are occasional sparks of brilliance, but they are very few and far between.
Jacob Parker
One way to cope.
Xavier Baker
Higher res in this game destroy the performances so you're actually better off with 1440p or less. DLSS is absolute shit, never ever use it
Jason Thomas
is the story just about two entities that came out of the projector, Polaris and Hiss? One got inside Jesse and the other inside everyone else? I kind of wanted to know more about Polaris, the speech with the brother of how Polaris and the Bureau are using us to do their shit, what was that about? Plus, the part where he talks about their names and how they could be switched or something...
The entire gameplay loop is doing headshots and then spamming launch as the gun reloads. The story is dull and up its own ass. The characters are non-existant. The setting is the most boring office imaginable. The music is some cheesy C-rate Youtube horror.
Carter Powell
But it makes sense in this game because everything is classified.
Asher Barnes
Yeah bullshit. They did the same sleep-inducing shit in Quantum Break. Remedy can't do storytelling worth shit.
The best part about the original SCP game how it would just completely blind side you and literally take you to another dimension if you fucked up or took a wrong turn. Or how utterly relentless it would get later on as all these weirdos stacked on top of each other strangling every inch of movement you can do. How there would just be dead ends that just completely fuck you like the skull or the bell and even completely innocuous shit like the peripheral lizard. Playing that shit blind was equal parts frustrating as it was utterly brilliant as you discovered all the SCPs in the game.
You really did feel like you were in a fucked up zoo/amusement park. But without a doubt, the best part about that shit was the grinder/clockwork thing that had so many dumb but intriguing interactions.
I never felt any of those at all in this game. The puppet part was fucking great though.
Zachary King
>Executive Alert in the Mail Room >go there >the moment i enter everything explodes >Executive Alert failed wat
Easton Nelson
>that console comparison near the end consolefags utterly BTFO
Owen Sanders
>scp containment breach is now 7 years old
just end me lads
Blake Bailey
Wait that's the ending? Not even a boss? The side missions had tons of bosses.
Oliver Morgan
What's the percentage of people who pirated it vs those who bought it?
Angel Nelson
Do I have this straight? The Board, Former and other side bosses are astral beings The Hiss and Polaris/Hedron are being from another dimension that vibrates on another resonance frequency. The Janitor is a Norse God?
Leo Lee
It isn't an RPG. It's unironically better for it to just be +% shit in this context because otherwise more gameplay mechanics would be gated into the game out for artificial "Growth".
The way it is now you basically have everything from the get go and just get some simple progression to boost up your favorite weapons and abilities. It isn't an RPG.
Ethan Lee
He's not asking for an RPG. He just wants progression/upgrades that shakes the game up as new mechanics get added to your abilities.
Because after a few hours the action becomes boring as fucking sin.
Samuel Sanders
NOOOOOOO PS4 bros it was supposed to be OUR exclusive
Like I said, progression for a game like this just gates away things that should have been available in the beginning. If you want more combat variety than ask for it, but having to wait until the end of the game to be able to fully use your character doesn't make action games more fun.
Aiden Bell
The Janitor is obvious member of the board. Remember, you're even working under him.
Samuel Foster
It's really fucking boring. And after the boring fest of Ion Fury god fucking damn it. It's not bad. But I really dislike the minimalist hud and shitty trendy everything is polygons shit. Prey did a better job somehow and had a better twist ending.
Look, I don't mind a token black person in my games, but why does it always have to be some ugly as fuck racist caricature? Just make a normal looking person, fuck.
Yeah I don't get why all back girls in western games are ugly as fuck.
Joseph Howard
Seriously, I enjoyed Evil Within 2 cheesiness better. Remedy is not the same from max payne nightmares.
On the larger picture, it does not matter, these fags have no power. The faster the triple A industry drives itself into the ground and goes off to make fucking hamster wheel microtransaction games and multiplayer trash the better. We are seriously seeing the end of singpleplayer, cyberpunk will be million dollar eurojank finale.
Levi Collins
How do I unlock this?
Aaron Adams
F
Daniel Allen
its a finnish studio, thats what black "people" seem like to them
Brayden Nguyen
>CONГROL What did they mean by this?
Cooper Robinson
You purchase the Plat Station™ 4 version of course.
Dominic Bell
Fuck. How did the snoy4 version get the sexiest outfit
Henry Brown
I can't get over how awesome the maze was. Totally out of nowhere and unexpected.
Julian Turner
How soon until we sfm of her and other female characters getting gangbanged by enemy units?
John Morgan
>his face
Fixed that for you incel nazi.
Carson Morales
Maybe never, it's such a boring game. You cant even hate her like bitches from life is tumblr so you can hate fuck them. We never got anything from darksiders 3 as well.
Jordan Roberts
here is my review >download shitgirl repack since tim already paid my copy of control >install it >4files failed to verify >its 31GB/34GB >cant play the game TIME STOLEN.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
Why do modern games always have that really shit pixel mess of an hair
Wyatt Fisher
ok buddy thanks for your contribution
Levi White
removing the alpha layer saves 1byte off every pixel in the image file.
Ethan Nelson
see consoles are literally operating on sub low settings
Jayden Allen
The way the action unfolds and how they made sure the music is synced to your progress is really good. Jesse also puts on the headphones and takes them off later.
Jeremiah Richardson
gee I wonder why there's a file with every single fitgirl repack named 'VERIFY GAME FILES BEFORE INSTALLING.BAT'
Henry Flores
>download shitgirl repack lol
Henry Morales
Because they use TAA by default and it blurries the image so much most people dont notice as to why exactly, probably some retard said it looks good
Joseph Howard
that pic is from pc version on max lmao
Evan Green
TAA is actually made to reduce that shit. The pixellation is an alpha layer optimization because alpha effects are expensive as fuck.
Liam Gutierrez
That's not very expensive though and now the hair looks like shit and the game is a vaseline smeared turd
Jack Taylor
With no MSAA.
Ryan Evans
What's the purpose of the secret mold area accessible from quarry entrance? The only thing down there is a single random loot container but it's actually pretty big and requires the television in order to get back out. Cut content? DLC hook?
Jonathan Martinez
Of course. Why would i ever use msaa on top of taa. I can barely make out the details with aggressive sharpening as it is.
Caleb Morgan
It fix the hairs.
Jack Bennett
MSAA gives you less grainy hair because they use alpha to coverage. It also improves geometry aliasing and things like fences and grates a lot. 2x MSAA is worth it for the very small performance penalty and nice image quality boost.
Daniel Hernandez
Polaris is pretty nice, though.
Elijah Garcia
More blurriness is not worth it. I'd enable it if i could disable the godawful taa. The shitty hairs is the last of your concerns with this game, the image is so blurry during gameplay you don't even notice anything(including any detail the game might have had).
Kevin Roberts
You're way too retarded for this game anyway so if anything based /fit/girl saved you 15 hours.
Ian Morales
holy shit the performance hit from having that heavy motion blur is crazy, toggling it off gives me like 15 more fps even when nothing is moving.
Jeremiah Carter
MSAA does not make the game more blurry. It's also not a particularly blurry TAA implementation. Do you mean the motion blur?
I read it as Hist every single fucking time. Can't help it.
Luke Lee
MSAA never add more blur though. It's the cleanest AA there is. What is it with zoomers who think the only type of AA are postprocess AAs.
Mason Clark
Ahti is likely a member of the Board in human form.
Jacob Barnes
Well not him but the game IS blurry due to the TAA. MBlur isn't the culprit since it's always blurry even when nothing is moving.
James Rogers
Just reached the "subway station" , im assuming im about 80% or so deep into the game and just found a "secret room" that gave me 1 ability point and a collectible file.
Have i been missing a lot of those? whats your experience anons? i usually do fine finding secrets in games
Daniel Davis
Probably escaped into one of the Slidescapes. Either that or he's dead.
Jacob Young
He's either the house itself or "Ahti, finnish god of depths". I don't think he's a board member at all, all the loops they need to jump through in order to directly interact with us seems like it would be a pointless frustration if they could just manifest in our world directly. The former couldn't do it either.
Jordan Smith
There's quite a lot of tiny little nooks and crannies which give you 1 ability point before then yeah, they're everywhere.
Hudson Gray
Ahti is The Oldest House. He takes his vacation in the Foundations, he can control the building shifts, and cares for the building, not the people in it
Michael Carter
I mean, we know that things like Polaris and the Hiss can attach themselves to people, items and locations, and even Former itself can do it with Altered Items. Who's to say that Ahti isn't something similar.
And referring to Jesse as "his assistant" even after she becomes Director, seems to imply that he's definitely higher on the totem-pole than she is.
Zachary Butler
Yeah of course your correct, we just don't know enough about it all to say for sure do we. That's what makes it fun though!
Hunter Reyes
Well fuck me , i ll have to check again the whole map now with flight (the one i found was only accessible with flight)
Luis Wright
This is at native resolution with 2xMSAA. It's a very standard TAA resolve. If anything it should be a little blurrier to properly suppress aliasing. They also bias the texture LOD too much so it sparkles a bit in motion.
the Foundations=the lowest floor with all the pillars=foundation
Wyatt Wright
There's also a drawing of the World Tree scrawled down there.
Kayden Green
>everything looks samey Did you play for half an hour and then drop your review? What the fuck potential were they supposed to reach? I think you keep your complaints vague because you didn't play this game for very long, or at all.
Nicholas Bennett
I havent finished the game yet but my take with Ahti was that he was a manifestation of the oldest house too.
Mason Sanders
>Epic exclusive No thanks, i'm playing Kenshi instead. When CONTROL comes to GOG i'll give it a try so can you stop shilling now?
Brayden Cox
All the invisible walls piss me right off holy shit, it smacks of poor level design. If you don't want me to reach something, put it out of fucking reach, don't use an invisible fucking wall.
Jordan King
RIP your cat mate
Joshua Perry
It's a versy standard vaseline, vomit inducing smearfest.
Julian Hernandez
This is the best game they've ever made, and it's brilliant. Someone should gather all the leftovers from 8gag and ban them from having access to the internet.
Austin Butler
>shotgun, assault rifle Ah, you didn't finish the game.
Jaxon Cook
A lot of the people complaining that the game isn't "SCP enough" don't really seem to get it. The game draws massive amounts of inspiration from SCP, but it's not ENTIRELY that. Control takes bits of inspiration from so many things that it's essentially a stew of weird fiction.
Sure, would it be nice to have more crazy shit in the game? Yeah, it would. But I'm not going to whine about it because I understand how working on something and implementing it properly can go, and all the fuckups that can arise if you try to rush it or just cram a bunch of stuff into the game all at once. I'm fine with the flaky sit we got so far, and I'm really interested in seeing where they go from here now that thry have a base to work from.
Julian Gomez
It's almost exactly as sharp as a classic box filter MSAA resolve and those were always too sharp to be temporally stable. This game should actually be blurrier for higher image quality. Something like Doom 2016's filter kernel with sharpening turned off is much better.
Sebastian Clark
Then why did you bother posting on this thread?
Parker Hill
Corrupted samples only drop form Mold enemies. You kinda have to grind for them since there are so few Mold areas.
Eli Rogers
Most of the people complaining in this thread seemingly haven't played the game for very long and probably just rushed on through whilst expecting it to spoonfeed them everything. Either that or they just haven't played the game at all but think their opinions still have weight.
Isaiah Williams
There are secret areas behind breakable walls.
Ryder Nelson
Yes TAA is as sharp as msaa lmao
Gavin Watson
Who else here missed The Pit until the postgame
Thomas Collins
or y'know they just have a different opinion you retard
Adam Lopez
Meh. I dont really care about what the game was telling me.
Not saying it's a bad story or game not at all. I get shit is so expensive these days you cant go ham.
Henry Wilson
Look at the edge gradients on my image. They are very very close to a single pixel box filter like fixed function MSAA. It's too sharp and should be a bit blurrier. They should also remove the negative LOD bias so the textures don't alias.
Caleb Foster
You are fucking retarded if you think msaa is anywhere close to taa No one cares about your shitty, microscopic, cherrypicked part of some
Alexander Turner
I think it's just a case of the average docile Yea Forums faggot trying to fit in and not go against the flow.
Brayden Peterson
And that's fine. Just don't act as if your opinion is something objective and defines something you've barely played, if at all.
Benjamin Price
i'm not the guy you were originally talking to, i just think you're being a retard just because somebody like this stupid shit game
James Johnson
Which are the mold enemies, the ones who blow up? Where can I find some?
Gabriel Johnson
Edge gradients are edge gradients bro. Every scene is the same in that regard. For geometry edges in motion obviously TAA doesn't have any samples to rely on so the quality is worse. For a still image like that it's better than MSAA.
Isaac Russell
>stupid shit Try again, user. Maybe get some better insults that don't sound like you're fresh out of preschool.
Gavin Walker
The pit (under research) and in the medical wing.
Christian Carter
see you take it as an insult personally, get a grip you loser. the game isn't very good just like everything those finnish retards have done since mp. stay mad virgin
Sebastian Cooper
I see we've got organized shitposting going on.
Noah Gutierrez
I wish more was done with Mr Clogg, it seems like a perfect opportunity to build up to something huge but it goes nowhere, the second encounter is especially disappointing.
Ryan Hughes
I guess you also need better English too, since I can barely understand your post as it stands.
Cooper Sanchez
Thanks bro
Luke Morgan
might want to work on your reading comprehension then you retard lmao, also "need better english", you are one dumb little cuck kek
Aaron Turner
underrated
Jose Russell
Interesting observation:
When manifesting powers, especially holding an object to be launched or hovering, a field of force is projected around the character which can lift/push small objects, with hover providing a slightly larger and stronger field, however there are things which are not influenced by this field of force, namely Health Elements and Pickups. They are not influenced at all by this force.
The force around an Astral Spike CAN lift Health Elements and Pickups into the air, Elements tending to float in place while pickup items bounce around more like the rest of the rubble it has collected.
It doesn't mean anything really, almost certainly an oversight, I believe those things aren't meant to be movable for a reason, but it is interesting nonetheless.
Carter Rivera
Anyone found any cool secrets that haven't already been talked about? Is there anything hiding in the firewall?
Lucas Jenkins
Well, there's Kojima's voice cameo but that one has been talked about to death.
Landon Powell
no.
Jace Cox
>Fully upgrade the melee attack tree >Level 1 launch does the same amount of damage, at range, and can obviously be upgraded to do considerably more
Cool, good balance there. I especially like how they cost the same amount, you know, just to make sure it's fair.
Isaiah Brown
Why would those need to be the same? I swear you faggots are just nitpicking the smallest shit at this point just to fit in.
Adrian Allen
>no meaningful use of shifting geometry and gimmicks departments
I died once during the ashtray maze and poets of the fall song. It was the biggest loss of fun boner I have ever had. Absolutely lame of them to make it so that you have to start at a fucking control point after that rush, mother fuckers.
Same thing near the ending: that red colored area where you have to float down while Dylan talks. Somehow I managed to die to fall damage. Again, same thing, start at a fucking control point. Jesus fucking christ whoever decided that should be shot, it totally ruins the immersion.
Blake Brooks
Melee doesn't cost energy or ammo so you can use it when you're all out.
Brayden Williams
>Why should melee be stronger?
Because you have to expose yourself in order to use it? Because there are less viable targets for its use? It's riskier so it should be more rewarding, how does that not make sense to you?
Austin Rodriguez
Darling meant that Polaris was not meant to be something that sticks with Jesse forever, someting she can cling to. Instead she was a catalyst for her to realize her full potential.
Daniel Perry
How do you need to expose yourself to use it, when there's literally a shield to help you approach targets? Turning this shooter into a melee game would have been a really stupid idea. Melee serves better as a "get out of a pinch" solution than a main combat mechanic here.
Brandon Lewis
>No, you must play how I say! You can't expect melee to work because I don't use it!
Adam Martin
Does anyone know who is the actor of Darling? IMDB only says voice actor, so does that mean that the actor in the videos is different from the voice? I think he was pretty good.
Mason Rodriguez
>Paine Elevators
Samuel Reed
Yeah I think he nailed it in the video clips, that was fun stuff.
Jayden Roberts
good Fuck cats.
Matthew Lee
Yeah, this was really old. Modern games should not use this vomit. Like ,when you can see to the other side of a wall through a crack she could obviously fit through, but can't go through it.. ugh.
I just finished the game and did a shit ton of side quests, but I never got the parts I needed to make Charge. In the end I even went to do 5 additional side quests hoping to get the parts, still did not get them. It was some kind of grenade gun?
Seems fucking lame to me that they made it so difficult to get it and the game is over before you get the parts.
Bentley Wood
I'm guessing they apply open world logic in this game and you need to go to a specific section to get the needed resources.
Michael Hughes
What is this TAA? I've never seen that setting in any of the games I played. Only FXAA and MSAA.
Jonathan Long
I had the materials to build the charge soon after I got the recipe.
Ryder Brooks
You can easily make the charge in the first half of the game
John King
based
James Hall
You haven't played many games then. It's temporal anti aliasing
Charles Edwards
Ok, so does Witcher 3 for example have TAA? That's a good example, I don't remember.
James Ward
Ok, then I guess I was wasting the materials I had on upgrading something else or more or less useless. Bleh.
Juan Martin
No idea. Console games mostly use it since the graphics are so trash you just smear it with TAA and call it a day.
Oliver Sanchez
It does not. They use something like FXAA I think.
John Mitchell
I don't think this game uses TAA. Looks like the ghosting look is a result of the light and shadow engine in the game that uses rays to render which leaves ghosting when moving the camera.
Asher Murphy
It's a clearer but sometimes more smeary FXAA. Really depend on how it's implemented but in Control or RE2 it's pretty damn bad, while in Doom 16 it was fucking perfect
But the entire image looks so blurry even without moving
Luis Nelson
in what way does this look blurry
Justin Carter
but TAA is just FXAA that uses frame data from older frames. It shouldn't blur more when not in motion.
Dominic Sullivan
It definitely uses TAA. If you run the game at a lower resolution than your monitor you can see the resolution get much higher as soon as you stop moving the camera. They're accumulating samples to the full resolution final buffer.
Xavier James
I missed my chance to pay this at Gamescom. Did I miss anything good? Is the game worth playing? My last Remedy games was Alan Wake, and I really enjoyed Max Payne 1, 2 and before that. Haven't played quantum break but I play on giving it a try.
oh you poor summer child you should probably look into what TAA does to motion, you're in for a treat It's the cheapest, most budget blurring method that came from console games so it's not that surprising
Kevin Sullivan
FXAA is much cheaper than TAA. TAA was rarely used on the 360 and PS3 because it was expensive. FXAA is a filter that tries to search for aliased edges and blur them. TAA reprojects pixels from the previous frame and accumulates them like SSAA. You can get ghosting and blur in motion from bad TAA implementations if they don't properly throw out samples on surfaces that changed. TAA has a huge advantage in modern renderers because it can correct undersampled effects like SSR and SSAO and it solves shader aliasing which MSAA can't touch.
Luis Roberts
What is it with AAA devs and TAA these days? Why is it so widely used? Don't say consoles because TAA looks like shit at 1080p and 60fps or 1440p 30fps, which is the performance that they are aiming for.
TAA literally has like 1 frame cost And you can use it together with upscaling from a lower resolution which is how it came to be used on ps4 and xone and then popularized in other games
Brayden Wood
>TAA literally has like 1 frame cost
Yeah but that was my favourite frame
Joseph Rodriguez
It has a small performance cost on modern hardware because modern hardware is very fast. On the 360 and PS3 it was a luxury option over FXAA. Temporal upscaling is objectively far superior to plain spatial upscaling because it can accumulate more data and approach native resolution.
Camden Morales
What are you even talking about
Hunter Lee
I don't give a fuck about x360 and ps3 nigger, i literally named the ps4 and xone, the consoles that popularized taa. I also sdon't care about your retarded attempts at arguments, TAA is a poor niggers choice and a spit in the face to the people who made textures and models for your game. TAA is only acceptable as a toggle option that anyone with a shred of dignity will disable.
Aaron Lopez
How would you do antialiasing for a modern high end renderer then?
Ryder Gutierrez
I would redefine your retarded definition of "high end renderer" as the first step that i won't even go through. But in the end, just make it an option you can disable. Yes, it's that simple.
Justin Smith
I see you haven't tried exploring much. The game makes extensive use of invisible walls to keep the player in their area, when from a design point they could have simply made certain platforms/openings a little higher or further away. Basic design stuff especially in a game which gives the player so many mobility options.
The Quarry is a stunning example, as soon as you get there you can climb up the sides and find areas and viewpoints that you're not meant to see, yet there are blocks you aren't allowed to stand on for no reason at all due to invisible walls boxing the whole area in.
Try flying through the firewall and tell me the game doesn't use invisible walls lol.
Asher Perry
If you were in charge of the graphics technology for a game released in 2019 with realistic graphics what would your preferred solution for antialiasing be?
Ayden Smith
A toggle.
Tyler Nelson
So your personal preference is no antialiasing? You're not even going to make an argument for any other method?
Christian Gray
Why not just make Alan Wake 2
Quantum Break and Control are hot garbage
Joseph Green
My personal preference is an AA toggle, so i can disable or enable it you empty headed dude.
Connor Garcia
I'm having trouble with Essej, can anyone give me some tips?
Connor Edwards
I asked what your preference was if you dislike TAA. What would you set your toggle to?
Julian Rogers
Hide behind as much cover as you can. She'll obliterate you basically the instant you stick your head out.
John Nelson
>Why not just make Alan Wake 2 >Quantum Break and Control are hot garbage You just answered your own question.
Brayden Hall
TAA:ON TAA:OFF I like MSAA to a point, SMAA and downsampling.
Owen Evans
MSAA FXAA TAA with strength slider Render Resolution slider Sharpening with strength slider
Brayden Morris
how long is this game? Im interested but i don't want it to be a game i blast through in one go
Luke Turner
I got bored and didnt beat this game but it did make me want to go back and play mass effect mp and run around as an asari with a talon and hurricane.
Connor Harris
It's not terribly long if you just blast through the main missions, 7-8 hours for most people I imagine. Maybe less I don't know.
But there are some fun side missions to do also
Ignore the random generated missions, they're crap
Owen White
Easily over 12 hours, unless you're a brainlet and refuse to read/watch the lore stuff and do side quests.
James Reed
Can you stack the same mod on a weapon to recieve more of the effect? I know you can install two of the same mod but are they actually working or does it only take the higher effect?
someone mentioned breakable walls earlier, i've not come across any, what's that about?
Nicholas Rodriguez
Why the hell did they limit the levitation? If your going to let me fly around then let me fly around, don't limit how high I can go or how long I can stay in the air.
Henry Lee
That looks really fucking cool but its still the same combat loop as when you unlock the launcher skill. Kinda depressing
Justin Sanders
They really needed a fire power that could be a fireball, flamethrower or even other shit. Even Quantum Break's time shit would have been cool, its crazy how awful the selection is. The 2018 trailer showed off everything but Seize
Bentley Parker
What's the deal with Lab 79?
Xavier Flores
You can break some walls to open up secrets and get neat stuff.
Lucas Adams
I do not believe you.
Mason Gonzalez
That slow annoying levitation was so fucking dissatisfying. You felt like you're flying through slime all the time. So glad I'm done and deleted this garbage.
Oliver Garcia
>complaining about levitation >when literally any game that gives you unlimited flight sucks donkey balls 90% of the time Fuck off.
Leo James
I found the perfect comparison game that has a similar "fun" factor that wears off quite quickly: Prototype.
It's super fun using the powers at first, you get different ones, at least in that one you could move around large areas.
But once you've fiddled with them for a few hours, it gets old reeeeally fast.
Colton Miller
DCUO did flight right. Fun, fast, satisfying.
Brody Diaz
How many Threshold Kids episodes are there? I found like three, and one of those was through the looking glass
Landon Watson
>an MMO where pretty much everyone has soem access to flight in some form >comparable to a metroidvania-like game where the whole point is exploration and searching for shit whilst managing your own internal reserves Retard.
Ian Powell
is it possible to swap character models? I just want to play with my anime waifu.
Michael Reyes
I completely disagree on the comparison. This game rewards using all of your abilities to their extent more and more as the game goes on. That provides added variety. Prototype just gives you bigger versions of basic powers to do more better damage to more number enemies.
One offers some (easy) kind of skill curve to climb, the other doesn’t.
Lincoln Brooks
Yes. With a mod you can also take off some clothes, it's pretty cool.
Grayson Sullivan
MetroidVania? bAhahaaha what kind of nu-terminologhy is that
Matthew Robinson
Is it just me or does it feel like this game ripped off a lot of elements from Dead Space?
Zachary Morris
This happened to me as well. It was fucking horrid. I was on such a rush, got through 90% of the stage, then it threw me to the control point. Insanely bad level design to do that that late to the story.
Nicholas Bailey
How so?
Grayson Gomez
It's a 20$ game. It isin't really worth more than that
Gavin Foster
Wait, something happens with the poets of the fall song room?
Lucas Gray
The gay as shit console game "too close over the shoulder" type camera for sure.
I would say it ripped off Inception, Dr. Who, Lovecraft, FEAR, STALKER, Channel Zero...
Elijah Evans
He is talking about the Ashtray Maze, when you wear the headphones. Rock song when you're blasting enemies.
The PotF audio room is just a gimmick.
Blake Gray
>The PotF audio room is just a gimmick. Whats the gimmick, I sat in the room listening to the song waiting for something to happen and nothing happened, unless gimmick is just the inclusion of the song
Eli Roberts
Exactly thats what I meant, having the full song in the room is the gimmick.
Jack Reed
The Ashtray Maze is different band though. Similar voice in the clean vocals, kinda.
>The audio room that just smashes the fuck out of the dummy when you press the button
Hmm
Andrew Cook
Thats because its the same band with just a different name lol
Leo Butler
>Old Gods of Asgard - Take Control >The song which plays through Ahti's Pony Walkman >Which he gives you to let you though the most powerful lock the place has
And people STILL argue that Ahti isn't THE Ahti from myth?
Ethan Wilson
>too close over the shoulder Bitch the only type of game that has farther third person is tab target MMOs.
Ryan Watson
Just dodge and use cover, can use the stairs and just peek round pillar as she wont push you you get a bit of health after each version of her the third being the last.
You are a worm though time. The thunder song distorts you. Happiness comes. White pearls, but yellow and red in the eye. Through a mirror, inverted is made right. Leave your insides by the door. Push the fingers through the surface into the wet. You’ve always been the new you. You want this to be true. We stand around while you dream. You can almost hear our words but you forget. This happens more and more now. You gave us the permission in your regulations. We wait in the stains. The word that describes this is redacted. Repeat the word. The name of the sound. It resonates in your house. After the song, time for applause. We build you till nothing remains. The egg cracks and the truth will emerge out of you. You are home. You remind us of home. You’ve taken your boss with your boss with you. All hair must be eaten. Under the conceptual reality behind this reality you must want these waves to drag you away. After the song, time for applause. This cliché is death out of time, breaking the first the second the third the fourth wall, fifth wall, floor; no floor: you fall! How do you say “insane”? Hurts to be happy. An ear worm is a tune you can’t stop humming in a dream: “baby baby baby yeah”. Just plastic. So, safe and nothing to worry about. Ha ha, funny. The last egg breaks now. The hole in your room is a hole in you. You came and we let you in through the hole in you. You have always been here, the only child. A copy of a copy of a copy. Orange peel. The picture is you holding the picture. When you hear this you will know you’re in new you. You want to listen. You want to dream. What did they mean by this
Josiah Long
>no reply Epic board
Cooper Rivera
Theres on in medic molded area at the back of the c shape walkway round the centre bit, only one ive found.
James Green
>you can choose between shotgun, pistol, machine gun or sniper rifle >You can only pick between two of them during fight in real time >You still can changed them during combat but need to open the menu and changed them manually one by one. Uninstall. Dunno why this dumb ass console faggotry system exist. If you want to limit the player then might as well block the menu system during fight. This clearly a system that dumbed down because of shitty controller.
It's the Incantation, the verbal form of the Hiss corruption. Presumably, listening to it without either an HRA or direct intervention from something like Polaris would completely fuck you over.
Pope analyzes a part of it, and finds that the most repeated words are Want, You, and Time.
Kayden Baker
Also this Max Payne 3 did this to make them looks realistic by holding them with other hand. But in this game you got a fucking SCP weapon that literally can change its form, limiting it into two choice are fucking dumb
Tyler Martinez
Maybe they didn’t expect people to want to use more than 2 weapons in 10 seconds.
Elijah Morgan
Consoles. Remember that console peasants have a limited amount of buttons to work with.
Michael Reyes
Its fucking retarded need to changed your weapons whenever you fight in tight corridors and then changing it again when you enter an open area, even fucking worst a tight corridor that also got an open area in a single few steps. This isn't a fucking RPG.
Jonathan Ramirez
Go to sleep Sami.
Lincoln Flores
Literally any weapon combo is “viable” in any situation in this. It isn’t that type of game where you NEED a sniper or shotgun. Pick 2 that you’re having fun with and mix it up later if you want, stop being such a bitch.
Robert Johnson
Oh for fucks sake you're telling the truth, I just went there myself. Goddamn, it looked like a normal wall to me, things like that should have a tell.
Also it didn't give me the secret area found message, when this is easily the most secret area.
Easton Powell
Why do people call it a sniper rifle? You mean Pierce? It was a pistol that shoots one bullet at a time...
I hated the mechanic that if you held it charged too long, it would shoot it away. Ugh. Consoles...
Jeremiah Lewis
Ask the other guy, and how the fuck is that a console problem.
Michael King
Are you actually defending controller system in a shooter game? what the fuck is wrong with you? Okay, let me tell you why this game is shit. >Tight corridors with that shitty blob mist that regen everyone. >3 fucking shield guy >Pistol did nothing >Energy are limited so spams is fucking useless when they regen for fuck tons. >Need shotguns because it can destroy the shield and occasionally pistol for small grunt headshot >Now the shitty blob mist moved to open area after couple hits >Flying shitters and snipers >Shotgun are useless >Pistol shot make them flinched on every headshot >need to changed to sniper again Fuck this game and FUCK YOU!
Because console are limited to fucking controller you fuck head and the devs literally decide to pick them because controller are more popular because of shitty console you dumb fuck. Older MP games got no problem with this because they were made with K&M in mind.
Jose Foster
Mostly some of the locations have a very Dead Space type of aesthetic/vibe. Both the fridge boss and the mold boss are kinda similar to some dead spaces bosses. The way the guns move when you switch and aim them. The levitation feels a bit similar to deadspace 2 zero- g. Picking up stuff from the environment and throwing it, has been done before but is a bit similar to the way deadspace does it. I'm surprised they didn't utilize the telekinesis more for puzzles and interacting with the environment like deadspace.
Ryder Perez
Throw shit at the healing orb and then seize it, nigger,, it can't heal itself and it'll start healing you
Carson Turner
The "blobs" shield disappears with 1 or 2 Launches. They were super easy to deal with. I never used shotgun as I felt it was the most useless one of them all -- because most of the time the enemies are too far for it to be effective.
But if one does not level up Launch early on, I can imagine it to be really shitty.
James Gutierrez
Calling it console shit doesn’t explain how charging guns is a console problem. I can think of no exclusivity nor benefit towards consoles when it comes to that. It’s just a shitty mechanic.
Calm down you fucking trannie, the only game I play on console is bloodborne.
William Thomas
Are controllers less capable of holding down an input than a mouse? Or are you a third worlder who doesn’t understand english?
You fags have serious mental problems.
Ethan Smith
At least I'm not a consoleshitter with their limited option. Oh yeah, let me rush into a fucking tight corridor full of 3 shielded bulls and multiple grunts stand still for couple seconds just so I can got raped by multiple grunts and failed the limited time quest again. I got no problem if this only an open place, but the Maintenance are got so many tight corridors that limited your view.
Xavier Lewis
In my case I never managed to get them to heal me, as my Launch killed them so easily, did not even occur to me that that was possible. Interesting.
Wyatt Rodriguez
Launch is used for several puzzles actually. It's also WAY less limited than kinesis is.
Also, not sure how the bosses are similar to DS ones? There's little that you could use to compare thrm beyond aesthetic, and even that's a stretch.
Leo Wright
>Are controllers less capable of holding down an input than a mouse? You tell me, why all today devs decided to ditching the old shooter system where you can carry at least 9 weapons at the same time? Now we down to carrying two type of guns, what a fucking joke.
Zachary Nelson
Most of those things but especially flying fast isn't possible because of consoles. Movement speed is capped in lots of console games so the data being loaded in is ready by the time you get there. It's why Spiderman on the PS4 is so fucking slow.
I think you need the ability to seize large enemies to do it >standing still you can seize whilst moving and even flying, moron
Henry Morales
Yeah that’s literally not what the user was talking about. Learn English.
Joshua Turner
>Weebfags
Samuel Morris
>Install game >Start new file >Walk into building lobby >Walk around for a bit >Find a box with flashing lights >Hold F to open >She opens it with her fucking mind
Before finding any OoP. So Telekinesis is her latent power is it?
Jaxson Baker
I'd say those boxes are just a gameplay loot mechanic that serve no narrative purpose unless something (which I haven't seen) references them.
Andrew Russell
Moving does jack shit on that maintenance corridor area near the pump station, why the fuck you guys defending this shitty as excuse of game design? Even worst people actually defending dumbed down controller design on PC game.
Owen Robinson
Imaging being attracted to betajaw.
Landon White
Although cuter, the right one looks weak and would not have been believable as a protagonist in this horror realm in any way.
Are you meme-ing or just plain retarded? Do you know how tight the corridors area between the pump station and the control point?
Camden Barnes
I found one at the transit corridor north next to the stairs that lead to the plane wreck on your way to the ordinary awe. Its a wall with a picture and theres a fence around the corner next to the stairs where you can see theres an accessible room.
Adam Morgan
This scene was really cool. Except for the fact that I somehow ended up in one spot that led to an endless pit and I died, during this atmospheric scene. Fucking hell Remedy, could have skipped that shit for this kind of areas. Ruined the immersion totally.
Jack Williams
It’s not the games fault you’re somehow too dumb to play it. As easy as it is.
Chase Cooper
Oh yeah, its my fault that 3 goons keep spamming multiple homing grenade launcher on a L shape corridor. While 3 shield grunts blocking the road that keep getting healed by the blob whenever I spam launch and shotgun. Nope, not the game fault at all. I bet you guys don't even know where the corridor place at on the map, just shilling this game because this game is perfect with no fault at all.
Parker Gonzalez
Not that user, but the game did have some annoying more difficult parts too. Like the Polaris beams thing. That thing was shitty.
I got to the last one, and was just having fun, shooting things, throwing things, and then suddenly one of the unique mobs appeared and pretty much one shotted me.
And the game makes me start all over. Those kind of mechanics are NOT pc game mechanics, they are shitty console game checkpoint mechanics.
Gabriel Brown
>Actually doing the limited time missions
They're a waste of time.
Isaiah Watson
I'm playing it right now. The only remotely tight area between the pump station and any other control point is the cave corridor, and not only is there plenty of room to evade, you'd have to actually be brain dead to not be able to punch through that with all the rocks in there
Christopher Rivera
Was doing it because i need the credit for pierce gun, that flying blob are fucking annoying.
Cooper Miller
>to not be able to punch through that with all the rocks in there LMAO Try getting limited mission in there and report back
Adam Brooks
When you get the Dash powerup you'll have a much easier time of things, no worries mate.
There are so many things this game lets you do... you can run past them, run back if you need to so they come one by one, as long as you keep moving they cannot hit you for shit...
Ryan Diaz
This is genuinely a very easy game user, you're just bad at video games
Joseph Jenkins
That reminds me: one of the most disgusting things in this game was thoe huge yellow announcements about the random missions. During the most pivotal moment in the main quest, for example, I got that obnoxious announcement on my screen. They should definitely not be on during the main story stuff.
Parker Thompson
I don't know try not being bad I guess, two weapon limit is lame though
Parker Morales
So was it the hiss fucking with Trench for ages or was it the former?
Blake Phillips
You mean the evade? That literally the one that killed me when I tried to passtrough the corridor so I can chase the blob. This game trying to be old school shooter while still using nu-shooter mechanic. Multiple grunt doing GL spasm on open area I can get by to it, but a fucking single line corridor is retarded. What make me frustrated is that because i was near a control point I can just keep healing myself and I did that. The shielded grunts keep going back and forth on that corridor while the stupid small grunt keep shooting homing grenade on me whenever I showed up myself. making it impossible for me to moved forward. Then out of frustration I tried to brute force my self with the evade dash, and that the thing that killed me and failled the mission. Died rushing into never ending grenade spasm.
Bait harder consolekids.
Juan Parker
This is ironic right?
Jaxson Torres
It was the Hiss. Former might have helped in fucking up the place a bit, but the Hiss was what was eroding Trench's mind to the point he started fearing that the Board and Polaris/Hedron were manipulating everyone, and that he needed the Slide Projector to stop them.
Daniel Cruz
Wtf that sounds like something from PSOne days. I remember those games that made you play 30mins again to get where you were, if you died.... cancer.
Michael Morris
Honestly I really fucking bored of this shit. It's everywhere. It's in every fucking sci fi now, everything is a fucking floating geometric shape wannabe 2001.
Wyatt Moore
Other than picking up cube shaped batteries and plugging them in (which deadspace also did) I can't remember any other puzzles that made use of launch. Maybe the luck puzzle cause you have to move the fish. Launch is pretty much required for some bosses. I don't know I just get a very strong dead space vibe from some of the gameplay and some of the locations.
Ayden Lee
I just completed one of Ahti's side missions; Cleaning the Mold from medical, and when I destroyed the last mold it said it was complete, removed itself from my missions list and... that was it. No reward, no payment, no "go see Ahti" who gives me nothing when I do. I just got nothing at all.
Can someone explain to me what that deal with Polaris and that metal sphere that came down, was?
Was Polaris corrupted by the Hiss or wot? Or was there some kind of deception? It was very confusing.
Alexander Hill
>zoomie needs constant rewards to keep his interest up
Evan Barnes
Some rewards are given in the control point screen only.
Samuel Turner
That's not it, you're being deliberately obtuse now. I've not had another mission that gave zero reward or zero acknowledgement for its completion before, so it breaks the pattern of what is normal for missions up to now. Obviously I have to wonder if it is a glitch.
Gabriel King
Why do Remedy games always turn out to be such a bore? They say to have everything going for them, but I can't bring myself to finish any of their games.
Julian Jones
You thought Max Payne was a bore? Holy shit. I can play that game every year during xmas time,.
Jeremiah Roberts
>he said that on a game that need to unlock all weapons using currency from those rewards.
Levi Jackson
Sure. Recently Observation, that shitty indie space sim I forget the name, and it0' sprinkled in other games ins certain parts. It's everywhere in movies like oblivion and interstellar and that homeworld banana shape shitty movie about first contact.
Only the first one is good throughout its entire length
James Baker
Alan Wake gameplay wasn't good until the expansion. Makes me wonder why they can't get it right the first time.
James Bennett
Yes when I say Max Payne, I mean Max Payne. Not Max Payne 2.
Gavin Adams
Polaris was an opposing and benign force of resonance that emerge from Slidescape-36, where it first met Jesse and Dylan via the Hedron entity, which was essentially something that 'projected' its resonance outward. Like the Board, Polaris is opposed to the Hiss in defence of humanity and was guiding Jesse to the FBC in order to combat it and prevent it from breaching the lockdoen and consuming reality. Following the destruction of Hedron, Jesse is seemingly the core vessel of Polaris' resonance.
The HRAs seemingly channel its resonance to block out that of the Hiss.
Go BING-BING-WAHOO elsewhere.
Julian Reed
>Quantum Break got more interesting physic abilities and upgrades compare to this game >The combat were more engaging too. What went wrong?
Xavier Wood
It was le ebin mystery guggeyoo.
They dont explain shit.
Jackson Fisher
Consoles. Alan wake was shit too.
Nathaniel Edwards
God damn that shit is annoying, with the loud noise and giant letters that block your view and it happens when a new timed mission starts and when the time for it runs out.
Sebastian Rodriguez
she doesn't look like she smells bad and isn't offensively ugly, like every character from da inquisition did
Brody White
See
Jordan Gutierrez
the horizon chick was literally a supermodel tho
Robert Harris
literally who indie vr games and two movies from the last 8 years
yeah its fucking everywhere
Owen Scott
So the mold boss was giving me troubles then I just went down there and stood to the left of the biggest hill cover and it glitched out allowing me to just stand there and shoot until it died wtf
Oliver Butler
Was Hedron man made? It looked like just some machinery they put together.
And what happened to Polaris when Hedron went down? It just went back to its own realm and cant communicate to Jesse anymore?
Christian Stewart
I'm pretty sure those missions give you some materials and currency for weapon upgrades.
The Hedron/Polaris stuff confuses me. So Hedron and Polaris both come from the same place, right? Polaris has powers but for some reason those powers have to be channeled through Hedron, a completely different entity? And somehow that is how the HRAs work but Polaris didn't know that or couldn't be arsed to signal some significance about it all? And now Hedron is dead, so Polaris can't channel her powers through it but....that changes nothing at all? So...
I feel like i'm missing a piece of the puzzle here.
Easton Bell
Nobody knows where Hedron came from, but its seemingly 'natural' wherever it came from. As for Polaris, it 'communicates' to Jesse in the endgame, using her form to do so. Its basically a part of her now, using her as a receptacle in the same way that it used Hedron.
It's up for debate if Polaris and Hedron are separate entities engaging in symbiosis, or if one was just an expression of the other.
Matthew Thomas
From Wiki: "The Hedron is an extradimensional being originating from Slidescape-36 which acted as a conduit of Polaris's resonance."
I for one do not understand why they would want to complicate things unnecessarily by having that "entity" be the middle man between Jesse and Polaris. Does it make any sense? Why couldn't the story just be that Polaris was communicating with Jesse? We learn of Hedron and then it is destroyed within moments. Seems like really shoddy writing to me.
Benjamin Cruz
Gameplay: 3/10 >Gunplay is pretty medicore and the fact that every gun uses the same ammo pool means that you usually stick to one the entire time (terrible design decision). >The throwing power is done exceptionally well and is the only time I've found it not to be tedious and clunky in a game; it's almost fun even. >Rpg and loot mecahnics are mindnumblingly pointless filler and you will probably forget to even equip new gear and skills at some point because it's all boring '+5% to some bullshit' that has zero impact on how you play. >Enemy variety is ok, nothing particularly special. >Side quests vary from barely decent to pretty lame. Not a whole lot of effort went into them. >There's some environmental destruction but it doesn't add anything to the gameplay at all.
Characters and story: 5/10 >Really fucking likes cutscenes. >MC is boring as fuck and literally looks like a tranny at all times. >Pretty much all the primary female characters are boring or annoying in some capacity. >Other characters are a mixed bag, with the science and the "janitor" guys being pretty good. >Not much to say about the actual plot so far, other than that it's pretty reminiscent of half-life and the mystery elements are reasonably interesting. >Sam lake has a bunch of audio logs as the former SCP director that really push the limits on pretentious writing. Don't think they were supposed to be ironic like max payne, either.
Setting: 8/10 >The one thing it does really well is being a pretty good knock off of the SCP foundation. >Though so far the majority of the SCPs are actually pretty lame due to just being inanimate objects that give you telekinetic powers after you solve a puzzle. >Flavor text collectables are probably the most interesting thing about the story and setting.
Overall like 5/10, worth downloading. >ugly horizon zero dawn trannies shilling control on Yea Forums yup
Ian Myers
The relationship between Hedron and Polaris is all kinds of weird. It seems like theyre separate things, per what we see from Jesse, but it's clear that Polaris is just raw resonance and can basically survive so long as it has a host, which Hedron seemed to be. Darling even goes so far as to call Hedron "a catalyst", indicating that it's not the source of the resonance. Polaris gas basically taken Jesse as its new Hedron, using her to manifest its resonance.
Lincoln Adams
The gun reload is so fucking slow and annoying
Zachary Foster
It should have actually turned into excalibur, or longinus spear or mjolnir or whatever the fuck it was during other ages.
Angel Phillips
So why is everyone just floating?
Noah Long
Yup, that is the only reason I died sometimes during my playthrough. Nothing more annoying than seeing the allahu akbar mobs come at you and cant get the gun to work in time.
Wyatt Ramirez
because it looks cool
Isaiah Murphy
But like, is there a reason story wise? I havent had a chance to play it yet.
Noah Campbell
Can someone explain to me did the game explain how come they treated Jesse as the new director "Oh my god, youre the new director! Pleased to meet you" style, and Jesse just played along with it. Obviously she had not met any of them before so how did they all act like she had applied for the job through a recruiter or something and they knew her name as the director?
Daniel Garcia
The Hiss has possessed them, but they're dormant.
Landon Watson
Hiss corruption. The ones who have combative capabilities are used to try and kill any non-infected, whilst the ones just floating about recite the Incantation
Michael Russell
>SCP themes
are there actually cool items/monsters that are housed in this place? or is it just the spooky corporate secret building thats scp style?
Brayden Phillips
Because she had the gun
Mason Diaz
Basically, they know that the Director is chosen by The Board, through the gun. Anyone who picks up the gun and isn't the Director it is strongly implied they just fucking shoot themselves dead on the spot or at the very least can't use it.
So, because they know that, there's little point in questioning it, She has the gun, she can use the gun, the pictures in the house have changed to her. She's obviously the new Director now and the Board knows best.
The game really could have handled it better, it should have been JESSE's reaction to it being so nonchalant that addressed the players' feelings but no, they skipped that for some reason. Jesse's reactions pissed me off multiple times actually, there's one point where she says "Even though this situation is hell, I like it, it feels right" and all I could think was "Holy shit lady, you've got one magic dimensional entity riding in your head protecting you, you've got a magic gun, you've got a host of magic abilities given to you, you've got The Board backing you, no wonder you're having a good time. Everyone else is FUCKING DYING have some goddamn perspective"
Daniel Roberts
It's both
Dominic Williams
that's really sad
Brandon Cox
>"Even though this situation is hell, I like it, it feels right"
I was actually 100% sure that there was going to be a twist that she was born in the other dimension or something like that, based on those lines.
But it turned out to be nothing...
Nathaniel Hughes
The map is so shit to get around im fast travelling everywhere pretty sure i wont play this game again
Easton Roberts
Console game, console map
Noah Thomas
It should be kept in mind that Jesse has basically spent 17 years dealing with the shit from Ordinary. Kids getting addicted to the Not-Mother's milk and turning into atrocities, all the adults and presumably her own parents up and flat out dying out of the blue, Dylan getting blackbagged, probably being shifted about from place to place snd being treated as absolutely insane for her convictions that strsnge shit happened, having Polaris guiding her, etc.
It's pretty clear that Jesse is entirely jaded and has more or less stopped giving a shit.
Jose Peterson
How is the sound design, is it good? Does the ambient sound add to the scary feeling?
Thomas Parker
I would say, playing the game on my PC, through two huge floor-standing performance speakers driven by a big old amp, that the sound design is completely spot-on, there are several locations where the sound really increases the tension and it is generally good throughout. Except for mission notifications, those spoil it.
Cameron Phillips
>Watch out for the shifting house, you don't want to get lost! >Careful, the house could shift at any time, don't get lost >The house never shifts, the only movement is when you cleanse a control point of hiss influence and the room goes back to normal, nothing actually moves around/changes connections
Cool, way to fucking waste the mechanic on the intro scene.
Jackson Hill
I'm looking for a traffic light that is rogue in the Panopticon but I can't see anything, anyone point me in the right direction?
Aiden Moore
Where you found the flying TV, you gotta play red light green light with it
Michael Gomez
Aha, thank you. I wasn't expecting them to reuse that room for some reason. I'll go sort it out now.
Benjamin Lee
The slow loads on death, the putting you back to control points at death and the gun reload being so fucking slow has put me off ever playing this again once is enough jesus christ fuck this game
Nathaniel Gomez
I'm enjoying the game but I hate, Hate, HATE, contextual controls.
Is F use or change weapon? It's both of them! Do you want to grab that piece of paper that is zipping around or do you want to change weapon? Oh look it's right in front of you now, change weapon it is!
Is Space Jump, Climb, Mantle, Hover or Slowfall? It's all of them! Hopping over a wall straight into slowfall instead of flight is such a great and cool way to die in a bottomless pit that you wanted to fly over, sure is a shame the game decided what I wanted to do was fucking kill myself.
This shit is inexcusable, i've got 101 fucking keys in front of me and a multitude of modifiers on top of that, fuck you. Fuck. You.
Ayden Edwards
>bullies turn their friend into a fucking alien dog Nah, it was implied he did it himself, by giving in to that other dimension
Connor Watson
Is there a mod that fixes her face?
Jackson Russell
The best part, the cherry on top, is that "Melee" and "Air Melee" are two different fucking buttons.
Michael Sullivan
SCP is bloated shit, though, so it makes it kinda even.
Jayden King
>There are occasional sparks of brilliance, but they are very few and far between. sounds like they captured SCP perfectly then
John Scott
I'd bump gameplay to 5-6/10, story to 6/10
The setting carries it, but if gameplay was 3/10 (i.e. really-really bad) you would've just drop the game. Not in the mood to describe what I disagree on, but I think that 1 ammo pool makes for great, frantic fights that force you to think on your feet. RPG and loot are the weakest part. But does it all really constitute fucking 3/10?
>>Sam lake has a bunch of audio logs as the former SCP director that really push the limits on pretentious writing. Don't think they were supposed to be ironic like max payne, either. How the hell Trench's stuff is pretentious? He is quite literal in fact, down to >It's director's duty to keep the lights on
Joshua Johnson
Sam stuff has always been hit and miss meh, but Max Payne corniness was nice, it didn't take itself serious. And the nightmare sequences really took you by surprise. It's not nostalgia I dont think he ever did something as cool as those pseudo lynch tv segments and overall max payne cheese. Alan Wake is mediocre, Quantum as well. This one is just whatever.
>the board was actually the good guys That was the most surprising thing to me. Really thought they were behind everything. Hiss and all the shit leaking into the real world.
Ian Thomas
That's just because every single media creation from the last two decades can't keep their dicks in their pants and just HAVE to make the authority figure evil.
Andrew Martin
Jesus fuck off back to facebook if you really don't know
Landon Thomas
You've not played enough, all the OoP are in the prison
Carson Robinson
>Add one point more if you're a SCP fag. this is what basically drove the game for me the beginning was good and some ending sequences but it was kinda generic and meh for most of the middle they should lean harder into 'scp' stuff and make it more weird with a sequel too bad remedy doesnt do sequels anymore
Kayden Cox
They show their hand a bit with the former but yeah, I was waiting the entire time for them to be the baddies and... they weren't. Gameplay isn't the best but the background lore is really enjoyable.
Logan Perez
>health falls low >screen now covered in red goo >impossible to see anything >health does not regenerate, effect does not fade >if you die you get sent back to the last control point almost dropped it at the hedron chamber
Daniel White
>be me >join this Yea Forums server called the Archive Fields >( discord.gg/HnuUfGn ) >filled with literal pedos, traps, etc >cant report them to ToS because they delete posts that break it >faggot called AA-1 runs the place >bunch of people tell me to post my legs >comply because desperate for attention >AA-1 tells me if I write "archive" on my body, he'll give me a special number >stupidly think "fuck it why not" >do it >I send it to him >he sees it >I delete it >he saves it and shows it to everyone >bullies me all day about it and calls me a retard and idiot >everyone in the server keeps calling me a retard >even the fucking traps their are bullying me >AA-1 even DM's me and says the only way to make up for this is too start a live stream and shill the server and then seriously killing myself >leave the server and have massive panic attack >AA-1 sends all of his little buddies to add me as a friend and keep trying to guilt trip me into rejoining the server >inb4 "just ignore them" >AA-1's friends are in other main servers I use and they keep harassing me in their as well
Please help, what do I do? These faggots is seriously ruining my life.
I think they just wanted Hiss not to leak into the Astral Plane to fuck it up, even if they couldn't corrupt the board itself.
Henry Murphy
Some of the fluff mentions a dream showing the black pyramid being invaded by red, with the red eventually replacing the black pyramid entirely. It was written on a whiteboard if I remember correctly.
Could be nonsense, could be directly related to the hiss taking over the Astral Plane and kicking out the board. You decide.
Zachary Price
YOU AREN'T GETTING AWAY FROM ME YOU FUCKING TRANNY, YOU'VE POSTED 5 FUCKING TIMES.
So there are two confirmed breakable walls so far, right?
Alexander Turner
The Former fights are an absolute textbook example of poor design, you have to look UP to harm the enemy but you can't see the holes it makes then. It's just another piece of evidence in my mind that the flight was, at some point in development, free form. Meaning that you could fly UP. What we have now as soon as you misstep you just gently sink into the death pit, it isn't fun and it isn't engaging, it also isn't DIFFICULT, the boss is never going to kill anyone except by them accidentally stepping to their death. It's a mess to be honest.
Especially the flamingo phase, where every misstep death means you get to do the pink bird mash again.
Connor Murphy
This game for me was worse than quantum break, I went through that twice, this I wont be going through again the map just isnt enjoyable to explore and the gunplay is terrible.
Aiden Parker
Yeah, they shouldn't have closed that site. Now all the potential school shooters hang out in here.
Noah Campbell
>effect does not fade It does tho, it just take way to long
Nicholas Peterson
Well, I'm just basing it on that Ahti didn't really get corrupted but who knows by what mechanism he was even physically there or if he's special even by the Board's standards which is also plausible.
Ayden Hall
the controls are awful (thanks for making me hold & release button to fling shit at people instead of letting me push the button, run around, then push it again to throw it)
Sebastian Clark
so how is this game overall? judging by this thread, it sounds shit. the gameplay looks fun, though
William Price
It's okay. If you like Remedy then at least give the game a fair shake.
At the same time, you also need to realize that being a Remedy game it'll have all the shortcomings their games have.
Luke Reyes
Positive: -I liked the fighting, gunplay and fucking with your force -Game looks graphically stunning. -The Janitor was pretty cool
Negative: -Character design is absolutely awful -The writing goes from boring to absurd -Worst level design I've seen in years -Everything looks the same until the last 20 minutes, when they packed out the cool shit -Story is a mess
Pretty forgettable game desu
Hunter Myers
The combat while flashy get stale fast and you mostly fling shit at enemies while taking pot shots.
Chase Walker
>b.) MUH UGLY WEMENZ This doesn't really bother me or turn me off the game, But I don't understand why she looks great on the cover of the game , And looks like Christoph Waltz in game. It's just not consistent, that bothers me.
Zachary Morris
>thanks for making me hold & release button to fling shit at people
On KB+M it means holding an object and moving to your right requires you to move your hands from the normal home-row position, it's a fucking crime against controls and only made worse by the fact that it isn't their first game. They should know this fucking basic shit.
Elijah Cooper
Middle-click is a secondary default bind for launch. And you can change controls in options, you know?
Justin Howard
imagine flying fast on a base ps4 at a buttery sleek 10 fps
How did Jesse get her powers back after Polaris died? Is there a second one "the player" giving her powers directly now or does she have the powers herself? Also I really liked how in the end the Board turned out to be neither good or evil just stuck in the middle of all this bullshit between Hiss and Hedron like everyone else.
Colton Ward
>How did Jesse get her powers back after Polaris died? did you not listen to the ending?
Jaxson Wood
I did. I heard two conflicting things though. Darling said Hedron was a catalyst for a different source that Jesse could now tap into directly. Emily said Jesse was the source of those powers. Which is it?
Kayden Morales
Why did Jesse LOSE her powers when the Hedron died? The powers were nothing to do with Polaris/Hedron, they were from being bound to the objects of power, which in turn were empowered by The Board, other people have used them without and involvement from Polaris/Hedron.
Xavier Nelson
She didn't lose her powers. She was fighting Hiss inside her mind without the help of Polaris/Hedron
Sebastian Carter
tl;dr parts of her were inside them the whole time, didn't matter if the source died
Cooper Howard
The hallway between Black Rock Quarry and Furnace, how do you get there? I've been to the mold area and its a dead end.
Nolan Cruz
i took it to mean hedron was a limb of sorts rather than the source itself, with jesse having taken its place
Dominic Gomez
Where you climb through the wall to go to the mold area you mention, instead of going that way, go back to the tracks and look up. There's an area up there and a door. That's where you go. You can get there early with creative jump-dashing.
Asher Gray
Dragon Age Inquisition was also critically acclaimed
Anthony Cruz
The only time It shifts is in the first minute when you meet the janitor the area loops around and the elevator appears.
Tyler Sanders
I'm a vet, and I always tell my clients to put screens on their windows to avoid having their cats run away. People usually think cats are smart and do well on the streets, but that's wrong. Some cats can even get lost and never find their home again! They get into fights with other animals, they can get kicked by people, females can get pregnant... It's just not safe! Also, this game always looked like hot steaming garbage. Didn't even care to watch too many videos of it.
Austin Green
Yeah, I was hoping for that to happen more often in the game. That part was very cool and set me up for disappointment when it didn't happen again.
Eli Robinson
Oh I just realised the tell for a breakable wall, there's always a wood framed painting on them
Evan Bailey
Jesse didn't lose them. That whole final sequence was the Hiss leaking inside her mind and trying to do to her what it did to Trench and everyone else.
Luke Gutierrez
WHY IS DR DARLING SO FUCKING RIPPED HOLY SHIT
James Hernandez
I was just about to ask about what the fuck this was, and then I read it and smashed
Former is basically the only asshole member of the Board. They "fired" it specifically BECAUSE it was such an asshole. It then decided it was going to go out and fuck everything up just to spite them.
Presumably, had the Hiss actually won, Ahti would've been consumed as well.
Dylan Gonzalez
Alright same guy, WHERE THE FUCK IS THE LAST MOLD IN MEDICAL? Literally been in every room, roof and floor and hiding spots and I can't find it. I wish this game had a flashlight or something
Dominic Davis
did you get the one behind the blocked-off doorway at the end of that one side room?
Cameron Wilson
Anyone else getting crashing on DX12 for no apparent reason with latest Nvidia drivers?
Jack Perez
Works on my machine
Jace Richardson
Running the legit version? With RTX? Could be the pirate copy I downloaded
