One time I played a whole video game and got to the final level without realizing there was a run button.

did this with skyrim because run was bound to left alt and there was no run in previous beth titles. I accidentally pressed run button like 200 hours into the game.

I use cheats when I play single player games because I want to speed through them and move on to the next one.

I've done the same in a couple of video games because the characters default animation looks like they're running and they move quite fast. When I found out there was a "run even faster" button I was surprised.

Did this too, since running requires you to do the hair-whip attack then hold it down afterwards and I always just precisely timed out my whips and didn't hold it down while moving till the Risky level.

I used a guide to finish my Shantae GBC run. I had set it down mid-dungeon and came back a month later, had no idea what I was doing anymore.

First time I've played Metal Gear Solid I was looking for the crouch button because running around in a stealth game seemed really unrealistic

FEAR is better without slowmo

I played through 70% of M&L SSS without realizing that during level-up you can use the roulette dice to upgrade any stat, not just the first one on the list (either HP or physical attack, I don't remember). The roulette even presents worse and worse buffs the more you upgrade only one stat to encourage you to branch out, but for whatever reason I never tried pressing up or down on that screen.
