Do you like it?
Let's talk about Dwarf Fortres
Go away joel.
That's way beyond the attention span of a typical Yea Forums-poster. The board which praises dark souls and considers fire emblem to be an unironically good strategy game, and rest of the time discuss other assorted console trash.
As for the game, it's pretty exceptional. My favourite playstyle is building on the surface.
could never get into the original but I've played almost every knockoff there is
I really love the base builder genre it spawned, it's the perfect mix of strategy and simulation for me
Unfortunately, neither of those two games comes even close to the depth (hehe) of dorf fort. I would even settle for 5% of the complexity.
I heard the steam version is gonna have mouse controls, you should give that a shot when it comes out
My favourite game.
You shouldn't talk about it on Yea Forums though, DF threads are are always complete shit.
Go to /dfg/, it's literally the comfiest general.
I miss dort threads
I never really liked that Toady added HP for undeads, them being nearly impossible to kill was why they were scary as hell. He should have just fixed small parts receiving no damage.
anyone know what the steam version is gonna add?
I haven't really looked myself
It'll be the same except with a texture pack and more musics.
And tranny characters but it's not like it'll be visible anyway, Toady is just trying to create outrage for free ads.
user, don't set that tone for my thread. You don't have to be a contrarian retard who shits on good games to praise other good games.
He might be toxic but he is right, considering that Yea Forums worships, e. g., the Souls series it is juat a surprisingly shallow action game.
Can't say anything aboit FE as I haven't played the recent ones.
Also, go to /dfg/ if you want comfy, this is Yea Forums.
Nobody on Yea Forums praises souls for being a bastion of complexity. Everyone likes it because it has just enough options for you to make some silly bullshit build work, with a bit of elbow grease, and the gameplay is competent but difficult.
Same with Fire Emblem, really. Nobody thinks it's the most complicated thing in the world, but it has enough complexity to be satisfying and varied per playthrough.
You sound butthurt to be honest.
post forts
this was a bridge between a continent and an otherwise unconnected island. I never finished it
I sure am glad water pressure didn't fuck you up, user.
dunno how you think it would've. the entire thing was several z-levels above the ocean and never actually touched it
>tfw a gorlak joins your ranks
It's always endearing!!
yeah, I like the older versions like 0.34 and 40d. Game feels more like actual Dwarf Fortress rather than 10 frames per second world/story simulator.
i mean props to the guy for literally trying to create a second universe with code but I dont give a fucking shit about adventure mode or like 80% of the features he's added since updates after 0.34.
Activating the world in 0.40 straight up halved everyone's frame rate and shit just keeps getting worse and worse.
I'm glad it spawned or revived the whole resource/colony management simulator genre. Plenty of other good games have come out that scratch the DF itch like Rimworld, ONI and shitloads of other smaller indie games.
